Great place to stay. Was perfect for my Pops and I for our bass tournament on Long Lake. The driveway makes it easy peasy when u have a big boat n trailer. Definitely recommend.

The location is perfect for travelers looking to spend quality time outdoors! Across the street from Long Lake, less than 10 minutes away from 2 major parks on Lake Huron, around the corner from a trailhead located on E Grand Lake Road. The outdoor space on the property is also wonderful.

Very unique property! Inviting and comfortable. Was probably more than needed for a couple of fishermen, but being right across from the boat launch made it super convenient for a very early start! Will definitely be staying again if we get scheduled more tournaments for Long or Grand Lakes

This octagon shaped house is very unique looking:)! Communication was prompt and easy. The master bedroom was beautiful. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was very clean:). We had so much fun. Thank you:)

The Octagon is a wonderful place to stay in the Alpena area. Although it rained most of the time we were there, we were able to visit many of the sites during our 3-Day stay. The Octagon rooms were comfortable and the downstairs kitchen and living area was unique and fun. The only “negative” is that it is located directly next to US-23. I guess we were expecting more of a natural buffer between the house and the road. With that said, we really loved it and enjoyed our stay.

Very unique and clean home away from home

We had a lovely time staying at the Octagon. Denise was a great host and provided everything that we needed for our stay. The house was very clean, the location was ideal for where we were visiting and all of the amenities were available in the house.

The air conditioning worked very well in both bedrooms. We enjoyed how well ‘The Octagon’ house was stocked. If we had forgotten anything, it would have been there. The home was darling inside and out, the beds and pillows were excellent, not something you always find in rentals. I would advise people who aren’t able to navigate stairs well, that the house may not be right for them, although I’m in my 70’s and had no problem.If ever in the area again, we would stay here. It’s a unique property with a happy atmosphere.

Great time!

The house is very comfortable and clean.There is everything you need for your stay.We had such a good time here we are considering coming back and when they say center of everything they're not kidding. Highly recommend seeing the lighthouses and murals in alpena. Besser has a nice sandy beach and beautiful hiking trails. I'm sorry I'm rambling on its just that we had such a good time.Highly recommend staying here.

Perfect fishing getaway

This property was perfect for our stay for a fishing tournament on Long Lake. It was only a mile from the boat launch. The house was very nice inside. The hosts had all the necessities available to use like coffee and water and appliances. The house is very well appointed and the hosts were very attentive to our needs. I highly recommend the Octagon house.

Perfect winter getaway

We chose the Octagon for our Anniversary weekend away. Like any VRBO you don’t fully know what you are getting till you arrive. It was after dark and we drop up to a house that was lit up all around. Amazing welcome! The house was immaculate. They thought of everything you could possibly need! We loved the art and unique decor. Denise was amazing! Even helped us with the best route to the house etc. Can’t say enough great things

This was a very unique and clean property!! Access with towing a trailer was very good!! I guess if there was one thing to suggest would be to change to a better toilet paper. That's it!!! Amir was very helpful and quick response to any questions we had!!!! Good location for sights to see and restaurants to eat at!!! We would definitely tell others to use it!!!

Repeat customer: Communication was great. I wish the washing machine was working. But was advised the days before arrival. The second bedroom air conditioner was blowing white ash like debris from it and was not cold. The new window leaked but I reported right away to host. The floor below the windows had an abundance of bugs on the ground which was very different from the year before. The small fridge in the main bedroom is running loud- may need to be replaced soon. Everything else was labeled and supplied accordingly.

Dear Christy, Thank you for your review, regarding the window leak today 6/21/2026 I had the window installer and my property care taker at the house to check for any water intrusion since there was a heavy rain in the area last night and they told me there was none at the same time I had them check the AC unit in the small room and according to them there was nothing besides cold air coming out of the unit to the point that they had to put on their jackets after running it for a solid three hours. I had them run the small refrigerator in the main room for the same amount of time as the AC unit and told me that unit was working as it should with normal noise that a refrigerator compressor generates. On the washer/dryer unit, I’m still waiting on the part and according to the package tracking it should be there on Monday. As far as the dead bugs according to my property care taker she had not seen any when she did her final inspection of the property on the day of your check in prior to your arrival it’s quite possible that bugs may have got in due to the normal opening and closing of the door. On another matter I did observe that you had two different unauthorized overnight guests during your stay, your booking was for two adults, although I did not mind it but in future booking if you choose to do so, please let me know at the time of your booking so I can adjust the proper amount of supplies (ie.coffee,water, towels..etc.) Hope you enjoyed your stay.
