Convenient for Penn State game if you are from Western PA or OH or west
It was very convenient from rt 99, clean, easy to get to, and Greg was very responsive. The beds could be upgraded, but it was neat, clean and perfect for a post game / teilgating event.
I took my kids to their first PSU game, and this was a fantastic alternative to the extremely expensive hotels. The house was a perfect accommodation for the three of us, it was clean, well-stocked, had more than enough room for us, and was a convenient location right off the highway only about a half hour from PSU. I'd definitely stay here again, and might be back for another PSU game sooner than later!
My mom and I were planning to surprise my 75 year old Aunt for her birthday…. My cousin got her to the property, and BOY, was she surprised!!! The house was clean, stocked with everything you could ever need, and its setting was amazing! We had a four night stay and family gathered around the campfire making mountain pies and toasting marshmallows, 3 of the 4 nights. The fireflies were magical! Greg, our host, was so helpful and friendly, even started our fire for us that first night, since none of us had matches!!! If you’re looking for a charming, clean, country home….. look no further, you’ve found it!!!!!
Loved this place. The owners are fantastic people. Very cozy and home feeling
This property Was exactly what we were looking for. Very homey a great place to have friends, cook out, hikes, and any other thing you wanted to do. Owners are great people.
This house has everything you needed and was nearby all of the area sightseeing… Greg and Tracy were very cordial and were right next door if we needed anything.
Greg’s property was super convenient for us with a great location. It was only minutes to Altoona and the setting was great. The house was very clean and we appreciated being able to bring our 4 legged kids. We will definitely stay again when we are in the area!!
Farm Country, down home hospitality. My dog loved it.
Nice place if you are interested in a country atmosphere. The host is very nice, fair, friendly and respectful. Very easy access off of the highway. Very secure and no worries, about anything. The host made sure we had power in a severe ice storm. Really enjoyed our stay.
It should simply be enough to say the host left a bag of cookies on the welcome note and some Penn State Creamery Ice Cream in the freezer, but that would diminish the personal touches they added in decor and interaction. For kids the active farm had cows to view and for adults there were fields to walk in and a real sense of homeyness to enjoy. A ten minute drive has you in the heart of Altoona and Penn State is 20 minutes in the other direction. Altoona is filled with old PRR railroad history and PSU is filled with flagship educational opportunities, culture and Football. This 2 bedroom property was a stand alone private well maintained and supplied opportunity to relax and enjoy. Would recommend this Host and their ranch highly.
We are Auburn alumni up for the AU @ PSU game. It was an easy and beautiful 35-40 min drive up I-99 to get to the Nittany Deck.
What you see is what you get. Older guest house behind a farm house, but super clean and comfortable. We loved falling asleep to the distant train horn. Other than that it was very quiet.
Greg, the owner, is very nice and super accommodating. There is no set check in and no pressure to leave. We got back from the game after 1AM, slept in, and didn’t check out until just after noon. Since this was kind of a once in a lifetime trip up this way, we spent most of our time at PSU and did not take advantage of the fire ring or much of anything in the fully furnished house. Fully equipped kitchen and I believe I saw a grill outside. You would not want to try or from there as the WiFi is dog slow, but cell service is fine if you have a hotspot.
No hesitation in giving 5 stars!
Thanks again to Greg and family for the hospitality. War Eagle!
We came at the height of leaf season and the views around the property were stunning. Greg was an excellent host, and went above and beyond to make us comfortable when we needed a last minute place to stay. Fantastic experience overall.
We really enjoyed having a place that was near hiking and biking trails. It was nice also to hang out on the porch in the morning and around the fire in the evening with nice scenery in both directions
Wonderful place that was perfect for our stay. Loved being out in the country. Very clean and had everything we needed. Greg and Tracy were very friendly and available if we needed anything.
Had a great time! Greg was very hospitable. As soon as we arrived he came over and made us feel at home. The house was perfect and cozy. It has all the amenities you’d need. Can’t wait to come back!
We loved staying at this house. We have stayed at various Altoona motels in the past and this was wonderful compared to those experiences. We enjoyed the privacy, the spaciousness and being only 10 minutes from Altoona was great. All in all, this was the perfect place to stay during our Altoona visit. We plan to stay there in the future.
