We had a great stay - the house is 5 mins walk from the village which has a great bakery, little shop, excellent restaurant and a playground. There was plenty to entertain our 3 year old on the doorstep, but when we did drive there were many beautiful towns and villages. Plus the best equipped holiday kitchen ever, and cherry trees and raspberry bushes aplenty. Nick and Chris were incredibly kind and helpful with great tips on what to do, and we also arranged a really top-quality meal cooked by them. Worth noting that the garden is round the corner from the house, so with two young children we went back and forth quite a lot, but it is safe and very peaceful. We all had a great time!

Nice old house in a tiny village. The owners are very nice, we even got a bottle of wine, milk, juice and a huge cake when we arrived, Nick and Chris helped us get some wood for the fireplace for it was quite rainy. Quiet and rustic property surrounded by nature and farm animals.

Warm welcome from farmhouse owners, including home made products ( chocolate cake , and raspberries jam my grand sons did appreciate!)

Great family stay!
This was a great place with plenty of room for our family (2 parents, 4 children and their Nana)and still room to spare. Not a place of luxury but rather a home from home that families can enjoy being themselves at. We found the place relaxing and enjoyable. The children loved the size of the property to play in, the garden with swings/trampoline, the fruit trees/bushes to munch on and the bikes to ride along the lane.....made it perfect while the adults could enjoy our dinner. Dinner was made for us by our very kind hosts and we were more than pleased.....better than a restaurant......getting a great meal served to you while being able to relax at "home". Also a tasty cake and bottle of wine upon arrival! I would recommend this place to any families travelling the area....easy drive to Mont Saint Michael, fun little amusement park close by and nice waterfall walk. Thank you for our enjoyable holiday. Relaxing stay!
We were made to feel very welcome on our arrival after a long journey. Very comfortable accommodation for a family of 5, which gave us the space to spread out. The upstairs sitting room was used by the teenagers to watch DVD's whilst we chilled out downstairs with some music.
The owners garden was a real bonus. The swings and trampoline were great fun. Very quiet location, extremely comfortable beds and we all slept very well!
The house was very well equipped and had everything we needed. The property was clean and tidy and there was a bottle of wine, a freshly baked cake and other items to make us feel at home on arrival.
I am sure we will return, and our children say it is the best holiday they have ever had!

Fantastic comfortable family gite
We thoroughly enjoy our stay at 'La Mestiere'.
Fantastic gite with all our needs met and more! In particular the DVD collection which kept Lewis amused for hours!! The four of us and Banjo didn't want to leave.
Nick, Chris, Bethan and Milly are brilliant hosts with good knowledge of the area.

Lovely Gite in good location
We enjoyed our stay in this very comfortable and child friendly gite. The gite was well equipped for our needs and the beds were very comfortable! We particularly enjoyed the meal prepared by Chris and Nick that we pre-ordered some weeks previously.
There were lots of things to do locally, Saint Hilaire being just 15 minutes away offered everything you would need with bars, shops, restaurants and market. The children particularly enjoyed outings to the zoo and the beach which were both approximately an hour away.
Chris and Nick were very friendly and helpful and we thank them for making our holiday an enjoyable experience.

Just as good the second time around
We had stayed at this spacious and delightful property in 2009 and did not hesitate to go back. If possible, the stay was even more comfortable. We received complimentary milk, juice and wine and a wonderful freshly baked tea cake on our arrival. The winning points on this property are:
1. The well stocked library of books and DVDs - it had grown hugely since our last stay
2. The dishwasher, full sized fridge and microwave in the kitchen – rare in France
3. The laundry - especially considering the costs of laundrettes
4. The friendly hosts and their abundant veggie patch
5. It is quiet but within easy reach of so much in the area
6. The absolute luxury of a cook’s kitchen in a holiday stay
This property is large yet cosy and provides a proper home away from home for travellers – whether on a long stay or on a week-end break. We recommend it highly – along with the extensive local knowledge the hosts are generous to share.

Very welcoming
Being part of an 8 adult party who did not know each other very well I was not sure how being thrown together would work. As it happened I needn't have worried, there was plenty of space (indoors and outdoors) to spread out and yet the main living area was ample for the communal meals etc. We felt totally at home from the first minute when we were presented with a bottle of wine and a still warm cake baked by Bethan. Nick could not be more helpful when recommending the local sites, shops etc and Bethan was especially useful for her interpretor duties at Le Viking.
Throughout our stay we felt more like firends with Nick and Chris and even socialised with a number of their ex pat friends.
I would definitely recommend this for anybody wanting a calm and relaxing break.
