The Space:

Welcome to The Railway Getaway, a one-of-a-kind vacation rental offering a unique blend of history and comfort. This fully renovated caboose features charming vintage touches that evoke the golden age of rail travel while providing modern amenities for a cozy and relaxing stay.



Step inside and be greeted by red velvet accents, original railway details, and plush furnishings designed for comfort. The caboose is equipped with a comfy queen-sized bed, a quaint sitting area, and a mini kitchenette perfect for preparing light meals. There are two loft-like areas in the middle of the caboose with big windows. Great for reading or gazing.



A few steps away, you'll find a beautifully designed private bathroom / laundry room in a separate building, offering modern fixtures and a spacious shower, maintaining the balance between rustic charm and contemporary convenience. Despite that, there is a tiny bathroom inside the caboose for your comfort. There is a beautiful deck on the side to enjoy the sunshine.



Nestled in a serene woodsy setting, this unique getaway is ideal for couples or solo travelers seeking a peaceful retreat with a nostalgic twist. Enjoy your morning coffee on the outdoor deck or stargaze at night. Amazing experience in a fantastic location at the doorstep of ONP. The renovation of the caboose was well done, with tons of little touches that showed the owners really care about the property and the comfort of the guests.

The Railway Gateway exceeded our expectations. So glad we chose to stay here vs any other rental or hotel. Very quiet, clean and comfortable with all we needed. It was a very clean and nice property. There was laundry available. It is a little outside of town but that is what we wanted. We wished we had more time to enjoy and spend at the property.

Unique and Fun

It's clear that care went into refurbishing the railcar. It's very comfortable to stay and fun to spend time in. The area is quiet and reasonably close to Olympic National Park entrances and other area attractions. Would recommend for anyone.

Our stay in the caboose was very nice. It was a charming alternative to the usual hotels. It was quiet and comfortable, with everything you might need. The caboose was nicely refurbished and having a dedicated washer/dryer was convenient. The upper-level seats were a great spot for sitting with a book, laptop or just a cup of coffee. The location was convenient to Port Angeles and Olympic NP's Hurricane Ridge and Lake Crescent areas, being only a short drive from either. Would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic stay. Just as described.

The caboose was adorable and clean. Perfect for 2. The shower and laundry in the depot building were easy to get to from the caboose. Bring slippers and a robe if visiting during cold months for the short walk. If visiting in summer, the morning light comes in very early with no shades in the upper windows, but the location is absolutely stunning and quick to get to Port Angeles and surrounding tourist sites. We had a wonderful time and would love to book the caboose again!

Surprisingly spacious

This property was wonderful. Yes, it’s a great novelty to stay in a caboose. But the interior design was beautiful, and surprisingly spacious. We would definitely stay again when we come back to the Olympics. The temperature was comfortable. Even in January winter. I do recommend bringing slippers.

My 74 yr old husband worked as a track repair man when he was 19 and 20 yrs old. This place was a surprise for him and he was so thrilled. He has always loved trains. So to have have the railing and the ties made this so special. We really enjoyed our stay there and appreciate all the work in making this available.
