We really loved the house and location. The place is perfect for relaxing and keeping away from the hustle and bustle. However, the house has the amenities to stay connected if you so choose to. The owner has a great setup.
My wife is already thinking of going back.
Only note to add is that if your family includes elderly or very young children, know that there are several stairs to get from the house to the lake side. Good exercise for some but can be tough for others.

Some pros, some cons
I want to provide usable feedback for future renters. There were some definite pros, as well as some unnecessary cons with this rental. For some
context, our group has six people in total for a week. My wife, both sets of our parents, and me.
I will start with the pros:
The inside was clean. We felt comfortable sitting on the sofas and the bed sheets were clean.
The area is fantastic. Warwick is a short drive away and cool little town. Great coffee place called The Daily Bean was also close. It only took us an hour or so to get to Central Park in Manhattan.
You can stand on the deck and look at the lake. It was too cold and windy for the boats, but they appeared clean and usable.
The appliances worked well, although we had to fiddle with the thermostat a little, but the heat finally kicked on.
The picture accurately represent the inside.
Now for the cons:
There were some odd things missing. It was known well in advance that there would be six people here for an entire week.
Toilet paper- there was only three rolls in the entire house for us. We had to buy more. Unacceptable, but fixable.
Iron and ironing board- none. However, we understand this is more of a cabin and most people won’t need an iron while coming here. But we could have used one.
Closets- none. We had to hang our clothes on the coat rack.
Hand soap- half empty bottles that were watered down. Unacceptable, but fixable.
Shampoo- none. The listing said bathroom toiletries would be provided. Shampoo should be part of this. Had we not brought some, we would’ve needed to buy some.
Trash bags- Not enough for the whole week. Unacceptable, but fixable.
Vent above the shower was dirty and started dripping dirty water when the steam collected from the shower. Should be cleaned.
Strong musty smell, especially in the kitchen.
We had to strip the beds and put all the linen in front of the washer. Seems odd to do a vacation rental’s work for them after paying a decent amount of money.
Bottom line- would we stay here again? Probably, but only if the above items were taken care of.
We were a family of 5 and had a wonderful stay! The layout was perfect. We enjoyed the spacious deck and big grill. Make a note 2 kayaks (1 adult/1 kid) and the site says there’s a pool table but there isn’t, maybe outdated info? But overall terrific! Owner very responsive and kind. Totally recommend!
Beautiful home! Plenty of kitchen items (plates, bowls, glasses, silverware, pots & pans, casserole dishes etc…) Comfortable beds, washer & dryer and very clean! The loft is amazing! We spent a lot of time on the wrap around deck.- we even used the gas grill. The views are gorgeous. Plenty of towels & washcloths. We will definitely stay here again. If we could give ten stars, we would.
If you want no working television, construction going on next door, living with the sound of trucks going by on the highway three houses away, one kayak, no two, half submerged in a decrepit, marshy and grungy waterfront and steep flights of stairs to reach it, this place is for you. No attempt at contacting the point person was returned. Still trying to get my money back. Not fun in any way. I wouldn’t let my dog drink the yellow lake water.

Hi Joyce, we want all of our guests to rest easy when they stay with us, and we're sorry that you experienced some issues during your trip. After talking to the homeowner, we would like to share the following:
- The TV is working fine and includes streaming services such as HULU, Netflix, HBO, etc.
- We include a map on the listing so that guests can see the approximate location before booking.
- The listing also states that stairs are required to reach the lake and includes photos of the exterior and surrounding property.
- We apologize that there was only one kayak at the time of your visit, but there was also a rowboat and catamaran for guests to use.
- The owners assured us that the lake is clean and beautiful. They will continue to work hard to provide an ideal stay for all guests!

Top notch
Beautiful lakeside retreat. The house was CLEAN. It was the first time we didn’t feel the need to clean a vacation rental when we got there. Being on the protected part of the lake behind the island is nice, as we could go out in the rowboat, even though there was too much wind in the main part of the lake. The internet was fast and had no issues.
The house is about 30-35 ft over the lake level, and accessible via descending two sets of stairs.

Perfect vacation spot
Our group of four found this house to be roomy and comfortable. We could relax and enjoy the beautiful view, good fishing from the dock and the nearby charms of Waywayanda Park and Warwick, NY. It is well equipped (especially the kitchen- spices, dishes, pots, etc.) and we look forward to returning next year!
We recently stayed at the house at the end of July. The inside of the house is wonderful. It's clean, comfortable and has plenty of room for our 7 travelers. Having rented numerous houses in the past I will say that the beds are extremely comfortable. Usually, we are very weary about the beds in a rental. The two things I really disliked: just how far down the lake/dock are from the house. If you aren't comfortable climbing down 6 stories, this isn't the house for you. Also, the railings on all the outside decks are not secure. We just didn't lean up against any and we were ok, but I would be cautious with kids.
The location, cleanliness and amenities of this property exceeded expectations. The house is lovely and was very comfortable for four adults and three children. We enjoyed the boats provided and the nearby beaches. A new grill was delivered during our stay as the owner quickly responded to a complaint from a previous renter. It was a delightful experience!

Beautiful scenery
Would rent again and Remember to bring creamer and sugar for my morning coffee. The scenery is the best although you have to be in some what shape for the stairs to the lake.

Three star stay
The property is beautiful. Located on a nice lake. Secluded, quiet neighborhood. I had to give this one a 3-star rating because of all the little details which led to inconveniences.
1. The door pad lock did not work. Had to call Del several times to help us get in.
2. The upstairs bedroom bed...one of the dowels was broken
3. The upstairs bathroom, the door knob was broken, lock did not work
4. The landscaping was very much overgrown. Poison ivy located all on the top area, leading to the stairs down to the dock. Weeds growing over the stairs and stepping stones leading to the dock.
5. No iron and ironing board
Otherwise, it has such great potential. Maybe a good cleaning would help. Beautiful furniture.

Very nice stay. Comfy and cozy.
The house was very charming and great mountain and lake location. We had a great family weekend. This was our first trip to Vernon and we will return this winter for more snow sports. May I make a few suggestions to improve the experience of your home.
Dining table needs repair. Broken gate leg.
One downlite and kitchen undercounter lights need to be replaced.
Repair broken towel bar in downstairs bathroom.
Dusty window blinds need to be cleaned.
Fry pans need replacing.
Provide additional wine glasses. Two are not enough.
Utility basket in dishwasher broken.needs to be replaced.
Dishwasher is unstable and unsafe when pulled out and needs to be bolted to counter.
Provide food storage wrap like Saranor foil.
Provide a few additional blankets.

Very nice place to stay and would especially be nice in the summer when you an enjoy the lake
Overall this is a nice house, a beautiful spot on the lake with a great view, and a good place to stay with family. There are a few issues that caused me to give it a 4 star review instead of a 5 stars. The carpet was dirty, the downstairs bathroom sink was clogged, and the towel bar was loose and wouldn't stay on the wall. I could easily have fixed those things if I carried tools with me while on vacation but I don't and I suspect most other travelers don't either. Anyway, those small things should be taken care of before the house guest arrive. There were some other small details that i noticed in others reviews that I had hoped would have been addressed before we came and were not.- such as insufficient amounts of toilet paper. Also there was no Kleenex tissues and not enough towels for the amount of guest that it sleeps.
The house is also far from everything and would be ok if you are planning to stay at the house and not go out to eat or shopping very often.
Overall it is a very nice house and the view is beautiful. I think we would have enjoyed it more in the warmer months when you could enjoy the lake more but we did enjoy the house and would probably stay there again.

The property was very lovely.
The main problem we had was getting there. It was very hard to find and we had to ask Troy at the lake club house who was nice enough to lead us there. Directions would be very helpful. There are many roads sounding similar.

Nice get away with friends and family by the lake!
Nice, clean and open space situated in front of a beautiful lake. We had a great time at this cozy house. I wish I could've stayed here a little longer to spend more quality times. I hope the house opens for summer and looking forward to coming back with friends. Thanks!

Beautiful Home
My girlfriend and I rented this for a NYE getaway. With my luck, an arctic blast made its way through and everything was frozen and not much to do, but I was fine with staying indoors and relaxing for a little break. The beds were cozy as was the rest of the house. They had a stove for a wood fire, but there was only a single log there so I never got a fire going. The Dish Network television worked for Netflix but I couldn’t watch anything live; luckily I had my iPad. The one thing I really wasn’t a fan of was that this propert is listed through a vacation rental agency and I had never dealt with one of those before on VRBO. I didn’t like that they wouldn’t let me pay off the balance sooner as they wanted to automatically charge my card one month prior to my arrival. I called a second time and begged to pay earlier as I had expenses of Christmas gifts etc. and I just wanted to pay it off. I’m used to dealing with the honeowner in case I have a question or something wasn’t working; when working with a rental agency, you don’t have that same comfort or assurance. The house itself was nice but I picked a poor time of year to rent it and I wouldn’t recommend it for a winter getaway, but I’d bet it would be nice in spring or summer when things aren’t frozen.

Long Weekend Getaway
We were looking for a nice property to go with family and friends for a long weekend and go snow tubing. Everything was clean and we enjoyed our stay immensely. During the winter months you can't go out on the lake but the view is beautiful and we would definitely rent in the summer so we could go out on the lake. If there were any issues I was given a phone number to call and the property manager helped me when I had a question the night of our arrival. It is close to Warwick and Mountaincreek (for skiing or snow tubing). I would book ahead of time for skiing or snow tubing since it fills up quickly.
Thanks for a great stay and we would definitely rent here again!

Family stay for son's wedding
House was spacious, neat and comfortable. Deck was great, lots of seating and beautiful, direst lake view. Very peaceful and relaxing for my elderly parents. It was a perfect setting for our pre-wedding meet and greet.
Outside of house could use some sprucing up. (clean windows and screens, remove cobwebs and bug nests). Grounds were a bit overgrown and some poison ivy. Inside carpets need to be cleaned.
Over all we had a great stay and would consider renting this property in the future. Great location and amenities.
Property manager and owner were very helpful during our time.

Roomy, well--equipped, fabulous area
We had a fabulous time at this property. We have a long association with Highland Lakes and know and love it well. There are five lakes in the community, and this home is on the largest of them. There are no speedboats allowed, and that makes the lake much more relaxing for swimming, kayaking and canoeing. The lake is quite a vertical distance down from the house, so be aware that you must climb quite a few stairs and steps up and down between the dock and the house. Since the terrain is steep, there is no "lawn", but we spread out on the roomy deck.
The home is well-equipped. They had nearly every kitchen tool that we could have wished for. Linens were all provided, including some beach towels. There is a nice big gas grill. There are games and books. The washer and dryer work well.
We were short on a few items, but we called the local caretaker and she came by and resupplied us generously.
There are two plastic-type boats - I would not call either of them a canoe. We did not try them. There is an old rowboat. We brought our own kayaks. They provide life-vests and paddles.
We were there as a family group of seven - three sisters and family. Another two sisters were housed nearby and we shared several meals - plenty of room for all of us.
There is another rental home next door on one side, and the home on the other side may one day be available so that my extended family can all stay near each other some day in the future.
We used all three bedrooms, the futon, and an air mattress to accommodate the 7 of us very comfortably. It was nice to have two good bathrooms for our group.
The parking area can squeeze six or seven cars if you work at it, but 3-4 vehicles is much easier. Consolidate/minimize vehicles if possible.
We enjoyed lots of time together on the deck, the dock, and the water, plus walks around the lakes and trips to Warwick (winery, shoppes). We hope to stay at this property again in the future.
