Wonderful Stay

The apartment is lovely and full equipped to meet our needs. Negra was amazing and very accommodating to our needs and requests! The beach is beautiful and so is the pool. Getting to town was a little expensive $40 round trip but it was nice to visit the different restaurants available. I would definitely stay here again at Emil's apartment!

Beautiful apartment

Luxurious, oceanfront complex on amazing tropical beach. Playa Coson is a like a picture/post card, uncrowded and relaxing, outside the hustle and bustle of Las Terrenas proper. Emil was a great host, responsive and helpful. The apartment was elegant with nice gardens and patios. The full kitchen appreciated. Staff at the complex was attentive. Restaurant excellent and right on the ocean. Only issue for us was taxis ride necessary to shopping and restaurants, because driving here is challenging. Highly recommend. Great value for this exclusive location.

We stayed 5 nights at this beautiful unit. The beach was perfect, the meals at the restaurant delicious and the unit very comfortable, clean and charming! We stayed Sunday through Friday and were pleasantly surprised to have the resort to ourselves! You will not regret staying here- only that you didn't spend enough nights!!! Gracias Emil for opening your lovely unit to us! (One suggestion...... a speaker to play music off your phone would be nice in the unit)

Tucked away in paradise!

We absolutely loved Sublime Samana! It was the perfect family getaway (but would be great for a romantic getaway as well). The resort was exotic and beautiful, the staff super friendly and the beach heavenly. Our condo was perfect for our family. Negra the housekeeper was sweet and helpful. She cooked us delicious Dominican food that we all loved--including the kids. We communicated by Google Translate since she didn't not speak English and we spoke very little Spanish. Emil, the owner, was very helpful prior to our stay and helped set up trustworthy transportation to and from the airport. Our only complaint about the condo was that the master shower didn't have great water pressure and no hot water some evenings when coming in from the beach and the master bedroom thermostat didn't work well--minor annoyances. We took a morning to go into town and another half day going horseback riding up a mountain to a waterfall--both fun excursions and good for the children to experience a world so different from what they are used to. After visiting the Wyndham-run hotel next door we definitely felt lucky that we had chosen Sublime Samana as it was much more to our liking style and size-wise. We would definitely go back!!

So Relaxing!

We had a great stay at Emil's place. It was spotlessly clean, and Negra kept it that way. Negra cooked us several breakfasts and dinners, and we LOVED them. It was so nice to let our kids swim, while we enjoyed a leisurely dinner on our patio. The rooms were spacious, the bathroom nice, and it was so nice to be close to the beach and pools.

Authentic Caribbean get away with cool surf vibes and excellent food.

This was truly a special holiday and I highly recommend you check this area out. We loved our accommodation, the check in and care was seamless. The hotel is quiet and serene and being small, felt very easy and comfortable. The staff were consistently welcoming and kind and the food was excellent on site. It felt like a hybrid of a trip to have the help of Negra to clean and cook meals, but also can walk up the beach to cool surf shacks for fresh fish and pasta (at great prices). The whole experience was refreshing. We met Emil and his family as they were staying at a resort close by and felt the warmth of their hospitality in helping us to plan our stay and future returns. The restaurants further up the beach in Playa Bonita were magical (European quality and taste mixed with Carribbean cool and vibe). We were two families travelling, 11 people total and loved the week and hope to return. Highly recommend this area.

Dominican paradise

We loved staying at Sublime Samana in this beautiful unit. We had all the amenities of the resort at a much better price than if we booked directly. We were a family of 4, and we had a lovely time, with easy access to everything. As many people have commented, the most wonderful thing about our stay was Negra. She made us comfortable and she cooked delicious Dominican food for us almost every evening! We were sad to say goodbye....

As great as always...

We just returned from our yearly pilgrimage to Emil's villa @ Sublime and came away as pleased and eager to return as always. There's not much I could say which I have not already stated, so please do feel free to check out my other reviews. The only thing I could add at this point is that the area surrounding Sublime has become a bit more popular... This could certainly be a plus for many as you should now see more folks in the ocean and walking around the beach. We're not talking resort-level crowds here, but there's certainly more activity in the area than in years past. In closing, as always, Negra was amazing and so was the villa itself. Emil is a class-act and I'm sure anyone visiting will only regret not staying longer...

Great vacation spot!

Lovely, uncrowded pools and beaches. The apartment, with a kitchen, two bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, was perfect for our family of 5. Negra was a huge plus! She was pleasant and helpful and an amazing cook. The owner, Emil, was responsive-- answering email inquiries within an hour tops!

Another awesome vacation

We stayed here the 3rd week of January. This is our second time to rent from Emil and it was just as good as the first. The condo is beautiful with easy access to the beach right out the back patio. It is very quiet and relaxing. The beach is never crowded. We spent a lot of time watching the waves come in and walking up and down the beach. The highlight of the stay is Negra. She takes care of your every need. She helped us buy groceries. She is a wonderful cook and is very creative. She made us some ice cream with passion fruit that we fought over. We have been practicing our Spanish so we were able to communicate much better this time. The hotel staff is very polite and friendly. They do everything they can to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We are looking forward to our next visit. Thanks for another great vacation.

Perfect (again)!

This is my second time renting from Emil. Staying at Emil's place is a real treat. Negra (housekeeper/chef) is the icing on the cake. The property itself is beautiful, clean and right on the beach. One of my my favorite vacation experiences ever. Must go back!

Where to start? I have nothing but positive things to say about this trip. Emil, the owner, set the tone for our vacation with outstanding customer service from the very start when we began planning. He is super responsive and helpful. When we arrived, we met Negra, the housekeeper who took such good care of us all week. She is a lovely person. If someone in your group speaks some Spanish, it's helpful because she doesn't speak much English. She cooked breakfast for us daily, and it was delicious - from the fried plantains down the freshly made passion fruit juice (amazing!) She will also shop for you and make dinners. We only ate one dinner in because there was so much to do and see in town, but that dinner was exceptional also - fresh fish, veggies, beans, rice, and salad. The apartment is clean, well-maintained, and has everything you need. The highlight for us was the outdoor sitting area, where we spent a lot of time reading and relaxing. The beach is stunning and they have lots of lounge chairs and shade structures. We always found a spot to camp for the day. In fact, we were surprised by how few people there were (we went in the first week of January). The service at the resort is superb. We had lunch once on site, dinner once, and ordered drinks and tapas on the beach. Everything was delicious. They take good care of you and are genuinely friendly. We went into the town of Las Terrenas twice for dinner and shopping and we loved it. It's a bit pricey for a taxi ($40 round trip) but worth it. It's only a 15 minute drive and there are tons of great restaurants/bars. If you want to get some well-made Dominican cigars from a lovely business owner, go to see Marco at Mondo Puro. Also, we highly recommend La Tre Caravelle for dinner, but make a reservation. Recommend walking down the beach and popping into one of the many beach side bars - super pretty! For the more adventurous, I recommend getting a moto concho at some point. It's a motorcycle taxi - really fun! They don't drive very fast so you won't fear for your life, but it is a little thrilling. But do not pay more than 200 pesos - you can argue with them if they try to charge too much. We are definitely planning another trip there! I will be brushing up on my Spanish because the locals are really friendly & helpful but do not speak a ton of English. It would be more fun if I can communicate better.

A M A Z I N G !!! BEST VACATION EVER! EXCELLENT ACCOMMODATIONS AND BREATHTAKING VIEW!

There is so much to say... From the moment we booked Emil and Lissi were very nice and helpful with all our questions and providing information and tips on getting there and things to do. They even contacted us on the day of arrival, as they knew we were driving to the property and wanted to make sure we were not lost. Once we got to the apartment the magic started. Negra, the housekeeper, is one of the sweetest people we've ever met. She pampered all of us and made us feel at home. We have 2 girls, ages 13 and 7, who warmed up to Negra right away and wanted to bring her back home to the US with us. There were tears when we left.... Negra's cooking is delightful!! She will cook anything and everything for you, and will even go buy the groceries. She is simply amazing and goes out of her way every time to make you happy. We had a day trip on Sunday, and I told her to take the day off. She still came at 7am and made breakfast for us before we left. She is just wonderful, and does everything with a smile on her face. The unit is beautiful and very comfortable, but the resort itself is truly amazing, very elegant and sophisticated, yet charming!! Every morning the view took my breath away! It is just magical! Unspoiled, virgin beach with excellent 5 star service. The hotel provides many free watersports like paddleboards, kayaks, boogie boards, which we enjoyed a lot. We also went horseback riding a few times on the beach, which was awesome as well. We all had an amazing vacation, and ended up extending an extra day, as we were lucky enough that it was available for one more day... and we already asked to book again to return! The spa is also excellent! And I recommend you visit while you are there. The restaurants are very good, but we preferred Negra's food because it touched that spot of home for us... and we could feel the love she put into it. We've been to many tropical places and caribbean islands, but this trip to Sublime Samana to Emil's apartment with Negra tops them all!! Best vacation ever as the entire family agrees!! THANK YOU!!!

I’ve been coming to Las Terrenas since I was a child and finally decided to manage a few properties here. It’s just a 90-minute drive from my home, and my kids absolutely love spending time in this beautiful area.
