About this property

Pitlochry – a home from home in the heart of beautiful Perthshire

Park Gardens (officially registered with Perth & Kinross Council as a holiday let: PK11118F) is a self-catering 2 bedroom apartment which forms part of a stone-built Victorian house. It is situated in a quiet and peaceful location, 5 mins from the town centre with access to all local amenities. There are quaint shops, restaurants and cafes, a boating lake and just across the river is the world-famous Festival Theatre, Art Galleries, 'Explorer's Garden', Fish Ladder, Dam and riverside cafes.
Maintained to a very high standard, this family home provides warm, comfortable accommodation all the year round. There is gas CH, double glazing, 2 bedrooms, a large lounge and spacious dining kitchen. The traditional lounge has 3 settees, tv, dvd&cd players, PS2, DS and a wide selection of programmes and games. The well-equipped dining kitchen has all modern facilities incl fridge freezer, washing machine & drier, microwave, espresso maker, hob and double oven. A dishwasher has been added in 2021

Heritage:
The Atholl Palace Hotel, a short walk away, is set on magnificent grounds and has a small but fascinating museum; Blair Castle provides an excellent day out.-the ancient seat of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl houses a great display of arms and armour, as well as extensive collections of porcelain, paintings and period furniture.

Nearby Loch Faskally and Killiecrankie offer a wide variety of outdoor activities including walking, sailing, fishing, canoeing and a number of adventure sports.

Salmon Ladder: Pitlochry is famous for its hydroelectric dam and salmon ladder. The ladder was specially constructed to enable salmon to by-pass the dam and make their way upstream to Loch Faskally above. Approximately half a million visitors go to the dam and fish ladder every year, making it one of the top attractions in Scotland. The ladder is 310 metres long and consists of 34 chambers. It enables around 5,000 salmon to return to their spawning grounds each year - a journey of some 6,000 miles!

Whisky Galore: Enjoy a complimentary 'wee dram' when you book a tour with Edradour, a short walk from the house. Edradour is the smallest distillery in Scotland and is the last original 'farm' distillery in Perthshire.

Book a show at Pitlochry Festival Theatre, the ‘Theatre in the Hills’, founded in 1951. 'It’s a unique phenomenon, no other British theatre attempts this extraordinary turnover of plays'. Scotland On Sunday.

Follow in the footsteps of the Scottish Plant Hunters; try your hand at willow weaving or learn new skills by visiting the Explorers Garden, just across the river. The garden is open from April 1st to November 2nd.Opening hours are as follows: Everyday 10am to 5pm.Last entry to garden: 4.30pm.

Walk! Walk! Walk! There are over thirty way-marked walks in the local area-details in the house, complete with ordance survey maps or down the road at our excellent Tourist Centre. Remember to try the 'Pitlochry Historic Trail' -a short 2 mile walk back in time. Make sure you take in Queens View – the favourite viewpoint loved by Queen Victoria, who regularly visited highland Perthshire!

We found and stayed in this beautiful cottage whilst attending a wedding, it was warm and cosy, home from home, Our host Pat was very quick to reply to us, especially when we were staying at the cottage and needed some advice, the area is very quiet, but quite near to a lovely little town within walking distance, lots of places to eat and drink and shop and explore the area, lots of car parking if taking the car into town, we really enjoyed our stay, albeit only 3 days, but hope to return for longer next time..

Wonderful stay! Cute duplex cottage in a friendly, quiet neighborhood. Have to walk down hill towards the town center and back up so if not very mobile or have trouble walking may want to stay somewhere else. Train comes into the town and buses. Not many charging stations in town for electric cars though, some broken and about a 10/15 minute walk from home.

We were very comfortable here for 2 weeks and had everything we needed. Pat was very communicative on our way up and had left a lot of information in the flat to help with shopping, recycling etc. The area is lovely there are plenty of walks nearby too. Thanks Pat :)

The house is old and has a lot of character. The house is well maintained with a lot of creature comforts. It is located in the beautiful, small, old, village of Pitlochry. Pitlochry has many old beautiful buildings. Pitlochry is centrally located in Scotland. We stayed there three nights and made day trips to the Edinburgh Castle, Loch Lomond, Loch Ness, and Urquhart Castle. We had an amazing time.

Sweet place - Great location

We loved this home. Such care and attention were clearly given to the house. Our group of three had more than enough room. Sometimes we snuggled in - sometimes we explored the adorable town and numerous walking trails in the area. Highly recommend. Thank you!

A lovely break

We thoroughly enjoyed our short break at this cottage in Pitlochry. The location of the cottage is suitable for both those with and without car. The cottage is situated a short walk away from the main street which makes it ideal for those travelling by train or bus. For those travelling by car there is ample on-street parking outside the cottage. The facilities in the cottage were well suited to our needs. As coffee lovers we were pleased to see a coffee machine in the kitchen. Over coffee we used the wireless internet to look at the mountain weather forecast to plan our day hiking. A large file included activities and places of interest in Pitlochry and the surrounding area, which is useful should the weather not be suitable for outdoor activites. The books about old Pitlochry and the Tummel region were particularly interesting. We look forward to our next visit!

Perfect home in a beautiful location

if you're looking for a lovely home from home, a great central base for exploring town and country, spacious, with everything you need this is the place for you. We made a very last minute decision to head away for the weekend and Pat the owner could not have been more accommodating and helpful. The house is impeccable with all you need for your time away. The kitchen is fully stocked, the living room warm and inviting and there are books and games a plenty. You'll sleep sound and if you've forgotten your shampoo no problem! All provided. We spent our time exploring Pitlochry and can highly recommend the walks around the black spout waterfall. Another lovely place to visit is Moulin with a great bar and restaurant all within easy walking distance of the house, we didn't use the car once. Thank you Pat for a wonderful place to stay and for all your care and attention - we promise to give you a little more notice next time we return! Highly Recommended.
