Cozy & Spacious 2Bed, 2Bath in the heart of Winfield

We are located centrally in Winfield on East 9th ave - 5 minutes from Southwestern College, the fairgrounds where the iconic WVFestival is held each year and great spots to eat/drink down town.

The Bird House has plenty of space to spread out & make memories with loved ones. Enjoy home cooked meals in our fully equipped kitchen, warm weather on the screened in porch, or comfy nights in with board games & movies.

Our spacious master bedroom offers a queen bed, desk, and reading corner, while the second bedroom has two single beds. The home includes two large couches and an air mattress for extra guests. Enjoy a large soaking tub in the main bathroom and a walk-in shower in the second. There are two living areas featuring a large TV, desk, and dining space. There is space for two vehicles behind the home, accessible via the alley way as well as ample street parking.

Please note that there is light traffic noise throughout the night as we are centrally located in town.

We loved this place. It was even better than expected. From the moment we walked into the sunroom, we knew we wanted to come back in the fall. The Bird House was our overflow lodging when our extended family came home to Winfield for Christmas. It was perfect for the needs of a family of four including a one-year-old and a three-year-old. The rooms are large and impeccably clean and they were able to have the baby sleeping in one room while the toddler played in another! Although I didn't stay in the house myself, I was delighted by the fun Christmas decor, and the screened-in porch would be perfect for morning coffee during warmer seasons. The location on Winfield's beautiful residential main street was ideal walking distance to so many places--our house, the college, coffee house, etc. Hattie was wonderful to work with and flexible when we needed to extend the stay an extra day. Highly recommend, and we'll book it again!

Step into vintage greatness

Loved this home. The details, the conversation starters, the best sleep, the cookies! Don’t even get me started about that screened in porch where we spent hours enjoying our coffee. They have mastered this Vrbo situation. I will make it point to stop in Winfield just to stay here.

Amazing, Spacious, comfortable Stay

Great house with plenty of room to spread out and Hattie was even kind enough to bake us cookies to thank us for staying. She was super quick on communication and truly went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. Extra towels and wash cloths in every room, a fridge with waters, snacks, two different kinds of coffee pots WITH coffee to use. Will 100% be back!

Family gathering

My family stayed in this house while in town for a memorial service for my aunt. It was EXACTLY as described but even more. It was a very cool house with many many added bonuses. It was a very homey house with a lot of very convenient add ins to make it user friendly! The gardens were exquisite and the screened in porch was exceptional. 3 women that have been friends 65+ years, celebrating the 70th birthday of one of them. A darling older home with so much personality! Loved the pocket doors, hope to enjoy the screened in porch in the future. Loved the tile in the bigger bathroom! Nice kitchen. Everything was perfect for our stay.

The Bird House was Great!

The Bird House was very comfortable and I loved the setting. The screened in porch and yard were so cute and would be great to utilize in warmer weather. The parking spaces in the back of the house were very convenient. I was able to get this house for cheaper than what two hotel rooms would have been and it was so much nicer and more spacious. It had everything we needed and more. It smelled wonderful too.

Family Christmas

Recently a family member moved to Cumbernauld Village in Winfield. To accommodate her new situation we needed a place we could all gather for Christmas dinner. This home was perfect. The two living areas allowed those that wanted to visit to be in one room while those that wanted to play games or watch TV to be in another. The kitchen provided all we needed to cook our holiday meal. Having two bathrooms was a plus and the screened-in porch was awesome. The hosts were very responsive to questions. The home is lovely with a lot of vintage accents.

We have lived in Winfield 25 years. We love the walkability of the town and the easy access to wide open spaces at Winfield lake.

Why they chose this property

We love old homes. 9th Avenue is home to many of these beautiful homes. Our home is centrally located. In a 5-10 minute walk you can be at the library, the rec center and/or the small grocery store located inside Braums.

What makes this property unique

The Bird House was designed by William Caton a local architect. Caton returned home from the war and designed several homes ( many located on 10th Avenue) with a nod to the architecture he loved in England. The Bird House is no exception. The home features several pocket doors, closets that light up when you open the door , retro tile bathrooms and one of the most amazing pantry’s we have seen. Be sure to look up on the front of the house to see the bird engraved in stone.
