This cabin was the perfect spot for a quick getaway. It was cozy, peaceful, and equipped with everything we needed. The beds were especially comfortable, which made it even more relaxing.We also loved how quiet and serene it was this time of year — a great place to unwind and recharge. Wonderfully updated property. Very relaxing location is perfect and feels very private, despite having nearby cabins. The extra touches with better quality pots, pans, and knives, really added to our stay. Definitely will visit again.

Easter weekendgetaway

Our family enjoyed our weekend away. The house was just what we were looking for and located within a short distance from Blackwater Falls. We explored several hikes and enjoyed shopping in Davis and Thomas.

It's a cozy place and was clean when we arrived. There was wood provided for tge fireplace, which we used frequently. Furnace and AC had no trouble keeping up. It was obviously warmer up in the loft, but they had a fan to help move the air. Great central location to the sightseeing locales and you can see two ski slopes right across the valley.

We’ve been coming to Davis for a long time but this was our first time staying in Black Bear. The Bear Lair was perfect for our stay. Clean, well decorated, well equipped kitchen, very comfortable beds, and plenty of firewood. The central location was great as we bounced between Dolly Sods, Timberline, White Grass and downtown Davis. Abby was super responsive and accommodating. We definitely plan to return.

A great getaway

We had everything we needed to enjoy the Bear Lair! We loved being able to have fires in the evening and enjoyed the view from the living rooms windows. We really appreciated being able to bring our 4 legged friend, who also had a great time. We did have a little bit of snow so had to be careful on the flight of stairs up to the cabin.

In the middle of everything

Well equipped cozy cabin on a resort with plenty to keep the family busy. Free mini golf, pickleball court, and basketball. 10 minute access to Davis and Thomas. Wildlife refuge visitors center and Canaan state park 10 minutes in the other direction. Endless trail opportunities throughout. Simply everything you need right there.

Cleaning crew did not do a good job. Trashbags left out next to front stairs to the property. The sheets were not cleaned from the previous guest - lot of human and dog hair found in the sheets. No clean sheets could be found in the closets to replace the ourselves.
