We had a really nice stay overall! The location is amazing, especially if you’re looking for a lake getaway with a larger group. There was plenty of space for everyone, the beds were comfortable, and we really enjoyed having direct water access and the dock. The grill and fire pit were great, and we loved hearing the loons. We also appreciated the packets of towels for everyone. There were a few small hiccups during our stay. The upstairs shower didn’t seem to have consistent hot water, and the house could have used a little more cleaning when we arrived, particularly the floors. We also had a surprise bat visitor in the basement, which I suppose comes with lake living! The property manager stopped by unannounced at one point, which caught us a little off guard. For most of our stay it was wonderfully quiet and peaceful. There was some construction and tree cutting right next door during our last couple of days, and a heads-up about that would have been appreciated if it was known in advance.Overall, though, we had a good time and enjoyed the house, the outdoor space, and especially being right on the lake. It was a great spot for our group.

Lovely, quiet stay

My family had a great stay. There's easy access to a lake through the backyard and it's very close to Lake Sebago. The lake in the back is low key and quiet but access to the busier Lake Sebago is a quick drive down the road. All in all a very pleasant stay.

True Maine experience.

Staying in this home gives you the true lakes region of Maine feel. Beautiful classic home with plenty of space inside and out. Huge spacious yard and a perfect dock on the water. All 5 of our kids loved this house and the dock and we all hope to return to it next July. It is in a great location too which is always a plus!

Lake House Vacation

This lake home is very spacious with a large kitchen, two TV rooms and an enormous master with three beds. My adult children ended up sharing this room for fun. The private lake is large enough to ski on but without the traffic of a larger lake. The location is in between Raymond (grocery shopping etc) and Naples (restaurants). Portland is a short 45 minutes away and we visited a couple of times. We will come back again!

Summer vaca on the pond

This was a great house for our family of 7 (5 kids 4-14yo.) It was a very spacious house with everything you need. We spent a ton of time down on the dock and in the water swimming, kayaking, and fishing. We brought along a few kayaks and paddle boards. I would recommend doing the same or renting from one of the local marinas/companies if you enjoy being on the water since they do not provide kayaks. Multiple places to rent from though if interested! Very easy access to property and owners communication was perfect! Would definitely go back again!

Woodhouse Review

Thomas Pond is a beautiful lake. We enjoyed the waterfront, especially the new dock. It would add to the waterfront experience if they would re-surface the raft portion and the walkway leading on to the dock. The boards the ladder is anchored in is rotting, and I feared when I climbed out of the water it would rip loose. The house was adequet but not very clean. You had to walk through this total wreck of a garage to get into the house. The light fixture by that door was siting on the bench as you came in. Also the bulbs were missing. I found some bulbs above the stove and replaced two of them and attached the light fixture. Lots of spider webs on windows and dead bugs. Window sills dirty. Grimy finger prints on kitchen cabinents and other door handles. Dining room light fixture so thick with dust, I had to clean it and replace one of the light bulbs. Also had to call the property manager to replace bulbs in downstairs bathroom as only 2 of the 5 were working. That sink also drains VERY slowly. There is no light by the washer and dryer so it is very difficult to see what you are doing. The pool room is dirty but also very hot. The radiator behind the door is on for some reason which heats up the room. The upstairs bathroom water pressure was nill whern we tried to use it. Called the property manager who came and changed the filter which improved it. (Dave was very nice and responsive). Cleaned bulbs in that bathroom, fixed light fixture in bedroom. Could go on, no space

Not as promised

Before writing this review, I want to say that we rented this place in Maine the week after Labor Day. I am not sure if this contributed to the issues (because it was not during the summer season). The house has the potential to be beautiful. The kitchen area is wonderful - large, well equipped, and updated. The location is excellent. From there, we had issues. One of the questions I asked before renting, and always ask, is are there air conditioners in the bedrooms. I will never rent a place that is not air conditioned. I was assured all 3 bedrooms had AC. And it was advertised as a home with AC. Well, the rooms had room air conditioners, all of which were removed from the windows and in a closet. We were there with my sister and brother-in-law and all of us are over 70. Putting an AC in the window was not possible. Especially without the proper tools. Additionally, one of the bedrooms didn't even have screens, so opening the window wasn't possible. The day time temperatures reached 84 degrees, which is unusual for Maine, but I know Maine weather, and know those temperatures are not impossible. One of the bedrooms registers 90 degrees at night. I also asked about easily accessible bathrooms to the bedrooms. One of the bedrooms is up a steep set of stairs and there is no bathroom. None of us are physically comfortable going up and down stairs in the middle of the night. I understand that for some this is fine, but I do wish we would have been told this. Finally, the house sits on a beautiful pond. But there was nowhere to sit and no chairs to move down to the water's edge to sit down. Earlier in the summer, we stayed in a place in Windham which was perfect and had all the amenities as advertised.
Response from VrboOwner on 23 March 2020
I'm sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations. You are absolutely right about the air conditioners. You did ask, and I did answer that they were in the bedrooms. As you suggested, because it was getting late in the season we had taken them out. It was around 60 the week before and the rooms were cold. However, obviously warmed up again as can happen and you bore the brunt of our mistake. There is no excuse. I'm sorry. From now on we'll leave them in until we shut down for the year. I wish you had contacted us so I could have had the property manager come by to put them back in. Still, my mistake for taking them out. I apologize. In terms of chairs for the dock, there are multiple folding chairs in the garage that are available to be taken down to the water. I'm not sure if you were unaware of them or was just too much to carry down. Again might have arranged something had we known. Regarding the bathrooms I thought I had been clear, but see that I wasn't quite. My response indicated that one bedroom was across the house from any bathroom. You are right I didn't explicitly mention stairs. I didn't mean to mislead you. Again I apologize that this detracted from your stay.

The house itself was okay, though a few minor things could use improvement. However, the biggest drawback was active construction right next door. Heavy equipment including well-drilling rigs, excavators, and dump trucks operated continuously from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Thursday through Saturday. When I brought the intense noise to the host's attention, their only response was, "I don't own the property next door."

This has become the week our family looks forward to all year, and this house is a huge part of why. The moment we pull into the driveway, it feels like we’re home. In fact, we loved it so much after our first stay that we specifically planned our vacation around coming back, and we hope to keep making it an annual tradition for years to come. The house is always spotless, comfortable, and incredibly well stocked. The kitchen has everything we need to cook meals throughout the week, there’s plenty of space for everyone to spread out, and it’s such a welcoming place to come back to after a day on the lake. Traveling with five kids isn’t always easy, but this house makes it effortless. The location is perfect, with easy access to everything we love about the area while still feeling peaceful and relaxing. Whether we’re spending time on the lake, around the fire, or just enjoying a quiet morning with coffee, every part of our stay feels special. The hosts have also been wonderful. They’re kind, responsive, and genuinely care about making sure their guests have a great experience. We’ve stayed in a lot of vacation rentals over the years, but this one is different. It’s more than just a place to stay. It’s where some of our favorite family memories are made. We couldn’t recommend it more highly, and we’re already counting down the days until we’re back next summer.

Family vacation

There was three generations that totally enjoyed our stay at this spacious home. The home was very comfortable. The lake and dock was very user friendly for swimming, fishing and boating. There was a pool table and an extensive movie library that was also entertaining. A quick ride down the street were many stores and restaurants! It really was a perfect location.

Spacious house on Thomas Pond

Great big house. Clean & lots of windows for natural light. Couple of downfalls are long walk up or down a hill to get to & from the dock. Needs some lounge chairs for the dock & a screened in porch or deck for outdoor seating. Cushions on the dinningroom chairs would be wonderful too. Lastly there was only one propane tank & it was 3/4 empty. Air conditioners could use some updating as well.
