Rejuvenate in comfortable luxury

Kulalani 2202 is the perfect home base for your Big Island vacation. The model is floorplan A2 which is the largest townhome floorplan in the Kulalani community. With its large master suite on the ground floor and two guest bedrooms upstairs, this spacious abode accommodates a single couple or a party of six comfortably. Its large two car garage has plenty of room for the beach chairs and toys we provide in addition to two cars, so you never have to seek out parking.

About half of our bookings are returning guests. Several have stayed here every year for the eleven years that we've owned the home. Come see why so many guests want to return.

Start your mornings with sunlight filtering through the private meditation garden and master bath, and illuminating the two-story central hallway. Enjoy lazy sunny afternoons and evening sunsets on the spacious wrap-around lanai. Kulalani 2202 features true indoor/outdoor living with walls of glass that open fully to join the living room with the lanai and adjacent lawn. The well-appointed kitchen will satisfy the “master chefs” in your party, and you can choose between the tastefully-designed dining room or the covered eating area on the lanai for your meals.

The master bedroom is a private retreat within your retreat. The California King bed, comfy reading chair, window seat, huge walk-in closet and spa-like bathroom make the master suite a wonderful place to enjoy private time. The “Bamboo Forest” guestroom features a comfortable queen-size bed, walk-in closet, hand-painted walls and views of spectacular Mauna Kea. The “Surf Shack” guestroom, with twin beds that can be converted to a standard king if needed, is great for the youngsters or young-at-heart in your group. You’ll dream about catching that next big wave and, on the clearest mornings, you’ll be able to see all the way to Maui.

We LOVED everything about the condo. Size, location, proximity to the grocery store, restaurants, pool and fitness area. It was so well equipped with so many different necessities, its was awesome! Perfect for families!

We absolutely loved this property, as it gave plenty of space for our family to have enough room, without us having to rent separate units. I especially loved the wraparound lanai, and how close the property is to the pool! We will be back soon and will definitely be booking this property again.

A home away from home

Bruce and Eric's townhouse is truly exceptional. It's impeccably stocked with everything you need, from a fully equipped kitchen to beach essentials like chairs, an umbrella, snorkel gear, and boogie boards. The townhouse is both stylish and spacious, offering a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. We loved enjoying sunsets and meals on the lanai. Bruce and Eric's detailed welcome binder was a lifesaver. Filled with insider tips on restaurants, beaches, and excursions, it's clear they genuinely care about their guests' experience. The property manager, Ann, was incredibly responsive and helpful. We highly recommend this property to our family and friends. If we ever return to the Big Island, we'll definitely stay here again!

Wonderful home!

This is a great home. Lovely and comfortable. They have everything you could possibly need and more. We love Mauna Lani and the beach club/beach there. The pools are super and the neighborhood is quiet and private. The condo’s large sliders allow full open air into the living room. The outdoor kitchen and eating area are comfortable. The floor plan is very functional. The bikes were fun. The beach chairs, coolers, and umbrellas were useful. This is a great home. We will definitely be back.

Another memorable stay

We have been coming to Hawaii for fifty years, and have visited every island. This home has become one of our favorite place to stay and the grandchildren (5 & 7) love playing on the lawn, the pool, and the beach club (and the nearby malasada truck). This was our fourth stay. The condo is exceptionally well equipped and meticulously maintained. Anne Cole is always available and helpful.

Wonderful Property, Location, and Stay

We highly recommend this property. It was an amazing place to stay during our recent vacation. The property manager was easy to communicate with and provided great information to us before our stay and during our stay if there was a need. The kitchen was impressively stocked with all of the essential kitchen items we could have wanted to utilize (pots/pans, dining items, utensils etc.). The patio/lanai was a perfect place to relax or play an evening game. There were items for snorkeling and playing in the water, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The home was very comfortable and in a beautiful location it is located near beaches which are family friendly for both playing and snorkeling. Day trips, to view scenery and explore are easily done from this location. There is a booklet at the home with pamphlets and areas of interest, these are very useful - we had done research prior to arriving, but looking through it allowed us to find other areas of interest.

The property was very well appointed from the kitchen wares, to linens and décor. It is in clean, excellent, well maintained condition set in a quiet development in Mana Lani. The indoor, outdoor living with grill and seating area on the lanai suited us. We were so comfortable, we decided to return for another visit.

Nice house, great location

Very nice 3 bedroom home in a gated community. Always love the Mauna Lani Beach Club and the shopping center. Home was clean and kitchen was well supplied. 5 min walk to 2 pools/hot tubs. My only comment is that the king size bed is very high off the ground, making it a climb to get into bed every evening. Note also the two other bedrooms are upstairs in case you have accessibility issues.

Don’t hesitate - just book it!

Top 3 units we’ve ever stayed in! So many amenities that seem to often be skimpy in many places - the kitchen is STOCKED with anything you could need to cook/entertain. Plenty of beach equipment, towels, etc. And the bathrooms? Get out of here! So luxurious 😀. We will be back!

Amazing Kulalani Retreat

We have stayed at several condos in Mauna Lani. This was our first stay at Kulalani and it was amazing! The condo was luxurious, very comfortable and exceptionally well stocked with beach items and kitchen supplies. The large main floor master bedroom / ensuite was elegant, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The large two car garage, connected directly to the condo, was very handy when returning after a day exploring. We really enjoyed the large and welcoming wraparound lanai for morning coffee and evening chats. We hope to stay again,.. and again. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your lovely condo.

Wonderful!

We’ve been home a couple of days now, and all we want to do is go back! The condo was perfect in so many ways. Plenty of space, well-equipped kitchen, lots of quality beach gear - really everything you need and more. Our family of four (with 2 teens) needed to work and school remotely for 2 weeks, and the condo provided the space and connectivity to make it work. Anne was extremely responsive with answering our questions and flexible with our travel plans due to Covid. We’ve been to this area many times, but so happy to find this condo for future trips!

They've thought of everything!

I recently spent a week at Kulalani 2202 and enjoyed every minute of it. The unit is gorgeous and huge! There’s plenty of room for several people to share the space and not be tripping over each other. The kitchen really does have everything you need – and more! I especially liked the thoughtful touches like storage containers and all the small appliances. There were many conveniences you don't normally find in other rental units. The beds are super comfortable. And having access to beach towels and a cooler was wonderful – so nice not to have to pack them. I loved opening the sliding doors to enjoy the afternoon breeze. With the breeze and all the ceiling fans I really didn’t need the AC, although it was nice to have the option. And it’s great to have a beach, grocery and several restaurants within walking distance! This is a wonderful place to vacation and I look forward to returning.

Great Outside Space

We really enjoyed our stay at Kulalani 2202. It was the perfect gathering place for our family which included 5 adults and 2 small kids. We especially enjoyed the outdoor spaces (dining and living) in this condo and the lawn is lovely and great if you have little ones who want to run around. The beach club is wonderful with a great beach and terrific snorkeling right off the beach. The condo is well appointed with everything from beach toys, towels, chairs (even a cooler) to a fully stocked kitchen and ipad doc and wifi. The pools in the complex are also great (although the 'lap' pool seemed really short) and we enjoyed both. My only reason for giving this property 4 stars instead of 5 is that there is a building site (just an excavated hole really) directly in view across the lawn (maybe 400' away?). Initially this was a turn-off, but it's not active at all (no work going on), so it's quiet and really didn't impact us at all. We have visited Hawaii many times and know that construction is a fact of life there, but If I were going to return, I'd want to confirm that this site wasn't 'active'. Don't let this deter you from renting, this is a great condo at an excellent price.

Best VRBO I have stayed at - hands down

I stayed at the property with my wife and three kids (8-12 yo) and it was our third trip to big island and first to this property. I've given a lot of very positive reviews to other properties in the past, but quite frankly compared to this property they were not deserved. The townhouse was amazing. The furnishings were comfortable, the bedrooms were great and the living room was perfect. Large, fully stocked kitchen. Its not a bargain property, but it is luxurious at a fair price relative to others. Its completely stocked, great high end appliances, and very functional. No BS with limited controls of the AC, etc...its like walking into someone's home they just stepped out of. Location was perfect, a minute from the grocer, the private beach (we used before at a different condo) is truly one of the best on the island. The patio was beyond perfect and a large grass are for kids to play. A short walk to the pools which has lots of shade as well. In fact when we stayed in Muana Lani last time we snuck in to this neighborhood to look around and the pool is what sold it for me. There's not many downsides to the property at all. What I most appreciated about it was the details the owners took to make everything as easy and functional as possible. There are too many examples tp speak of, but I would recommend taking a look in the large closet before heading off and buying anything. I saw a fair amount of stuff for babies as well (thankfully we are far past that stage, but if not I'd be keen to know about it). We have already booked our return visit.

Why they chose this property

We love Mauna Lani because of the beauty of the property and the diverse landscape it offers for long walks and runs. There are few places in Hawaii where you can enjoy a scenic 3, 6, 8, or even 15 mile run or walk without getting on a highway! The beach path to the Puako Road is about one mile from our home and it opens up an abundance of running and walking terrain that compliments the wonderful paths within the resort complex. We love Kulalani because of the newness and comfortable design of the homes and the first rate pool and fitness complex. Late at night we love to sit on the back lawn and gaze into the unbelievably clear Milky Way.

What makes this property unique

This townhome is uniquely situated to capture the filtered morning sun and evening sunsets. The kitchen includes upgrades such as a Sub-Zero fridge and Miele dishwasher. It backs onto a lovely lawn with territorial view and privacy. We make our 2 car garage available to you so parking is always there for you, right at your door.

About 50% of our bookings each year are from returning guests. We have several guests who have stayed at Kulalani 2202 every year for as long as we've owned it. We hope you'll come see why this is a property that people want to return to.
