Great little hide away in the woods. Beautiful views of the lake, the colors of the sunrise were spectacular and watching the moon rise over the lake was so peaceful. A great reset to enjoy the peacefulness of nature and relax after a day of hiking. The outdoor shower was easy to use and warm. Just had to be quick so you didn't run out of water. Our dogs had a great time zooming down the driveway and playing in the lake. There is a beach that is a small walk down the rocks where we could play Frisbee with the dogs.

Amazing spot nestled upon the Lake Superior shore. We were only able to enjoy it for one night due to the wildfires but I’d recommend for a rustic weekend away. Host was very understanding and helpful. Can’t wait to come back in Fall

Room had not been cleaned after previous guests and host was aware it had not been cleaned. Bed was extremely uncomfortable. Propane tank on grill was empty. Battery for outdoor water heater ignition was dead. Outhouse does not have a stack to vent outside so the odor was very overwhelming in the outhouse.

What a fabulous hidden treasure!!! Perfect, cozy little spot just footsteps from Lake Superior. Loved all the thought that went into the design of the property. It’s a small room (I’m guessing 12 x8) but they’ve made such good use of the space, inside and out. Loved having the big picture windows that looked right out onto the water. Perfect for sunrise. The outhouse was clean, tidy, and had the best view I have ever had the pleasure of taking while visiting an outhouse. Also we were lucky enough to get a bit of rain, allowing us both to enjoy a nice hot outdoor shower before we left. Absolutely fantastic. We will definitely be back!

Superior "Glamping"

The two of us enjoyed a fantastic, rejuvenating, secluded few days at this wonderful location. Beautiful views, infrastructure upgrades including a new outdoor shower, and thoughtful touches like a Nespresso for morning coffee made this property impressive and truly one-of-a-kind. We especially appreciated the quick, informative, ongoing communication from the host. We hope to be back!

Secluded Getaway

My husband and I were looking for a home base for a long weekend in the Grand Marais area. I also expected to cook some meals there. The good news is that the sofa sleeper is the best we have ever slept on. The cabin was sturdy and clean. On the other hand, there were some things to be desired. You will find a tiny corner cabinet with a coffee pot, a single hot plate and a small pot to warm water. Fine for morning coffee or tea. No kitchenette. Bring your mosquito repellent. They are ferocious.

We had a lovely stay! Beautiful scenery on the shore and the stars appeared magnified at night with such minimal light pollution!! Everything was clean and well decorated, but the outhouse definitely had some odor and bug issues. (I imagine that is hard to control however!) And the bed that is listed is the pull out couch which they had set up for us upon our arrival. There is a back up generator for when you run out of solar power each day. We were there at the end of August when the days are shorter and the generator startled us the first night when it automatically turned on. (We were told we would need to turn it on if we needed it.)I also wish I would have known more about their cooking situation (grill, side burner on grill, pots/pans, utensils available) as I brought a lot of stuff in order to prepare our own meals.Owner was very responsive to any questions or concerns though and we greatly appreciated that!!!Took a charter boat out of Grand Portage to Isle Royale and spent the day hiking. It was fabulous! Places we suggest trying nearby are Voyager Brewing Company and The Raven’s Nest (a roof top bar above Gunflint Tavern). We ended the weekend on a high with our engagement!

First thing- No water and no communication that there would be no water. When we reached out to the host, he said, "it was turned off for the season." We were not aware of this and had to drive 26 miles round-trip to urchase water for washing dishes, hands, brushing teeth, cooking, etc.Second thing-The outhouse was not vented properly and the smell was putrid. As a result, we were forced to use the woods as our toilet. Any attempt we made at using the provided facility, resulted in us gagging.Third thing-The "bed". We slept on a pullout couch but instead of a mattress, the "bed" was made up of a few very thin pads, that were uncomfortable and seperated during the night. We could feel the couch bars underneath us.Fourth thing-Organization of "amenities" Had to search to find the one hot plate for cooking(which was covered in grease), the coffee mugs(which had standing water in them, and the single pot/pan. No cooking utensils in sight.Fifth thing-The grill was unusable. Caked on with crap from never being cleaned. Ended up cooking over a bonfire.Sixth thing-The "cabin" was cleaner after we left then when we got there. We swept all of the dirt out and cleaned up the sticky end table and counter space that was present upon our arrival.This experience was not worth the price at all. We could have camped by the lake for less than half of what we paid and still would have had more amentities.

The property was NOT kept up at all. The private road going to cabin was overgrown with weeds and under brush. There was weeds and under growth everywhere near the patio with the table and chairs, Some weeds growing through the cracks in the wooden pathway to the outdoor shower and bathroom. The ‘bathroom’ did not have a vent in the holding tank so the smell was undesirable.Property near cabin, outdoor facilities and Lake Superior was not pleasing to the eye!

What a beautiful property. The host was quick to answer questions and accommodating. I loved sitting by the little fire pit watching the lake and listening to the birds. We brought our paddle boards to enjoy the bay which felt like our own private inlet. The outhouse on the property was well maintained and much nicer than the ones we encountered in the state parks. Highly recommend the cascade falls park and devils kettle waterfall hike. Wood stove kept us warm at night, coffee on the dock in the morning. I will definitely stay here again.
