This off the main path home was just exactly what we were looking for. Captured the history of Ocracoke and came complete the the ghosts and spirits of all the sailors who lived there who were lost as sea. Why else would our candle refuse to stay lit??😀 😀😀. Great spot. It was just me and my wife but you could easily bring 3 kids along …but I assure you we had lots more fun trying out all the bedrooms by ourselves!!!!

This cottage is a cozy, comfortable place for a vacation on Ocracoke Island
Our brief stay at the cottage was very enjoyable. It's comfortable and cozy in a great location just off the street, surrounded by beautiful trees. The screened in porch is a great place to enjoy an afternoon sunset and your a short walk to the local fresh seafood store and some great local merchants, coffee shop and eatery's. The master bed was comfortable, the bathroom and modern kitchen were clean, the internet worked great, but unfortunately the TV didn't. Don't forget to bring dishwasher and laundry soap if your going to stay for a few days, because its not provided. We definitely plan on coming back to Ocracoke and staying at Mattie Midgettes cozy cottage.................... Happy travels :)
Cute house, with lots of history, good location, but had a few problems.
Great location. Had a nice porch to sit on since it rained most of time we were there. Everything on porch was pictured correct in the photos. The chairs could have been slightly more comfortable but they were still nice. I personally didn't like the matress in the Master bedroom. Husband had no problem with the matress in that room though. The living room was VERY uncomfortable over all, just to relax, it has outdoor furniture. But we don't watch much TV and probably wouldn't have been in house as much if it was a low pressure system over us the entire time. The TV was grainy. So if are stuck in house, TV isn't really going to entertain you. We didn't use the kitchen much, but the oven face was OFF so if you had little children or just anyone that is planning on using the oven, it was a burn hazard. We did report it and they said they were replacing it. The outdoor shower must had recently been replaced, (looked nice) , but the KITCHEN sink plumbing was NOT reconnected at all, and when you ran the sink it would run outside. We also reported this and it was supposed to get fixed. The parking was not confirmed on the check in and we had a Large F-350 truck. We could not park in the yard due to the size of the truck and tight space, so we just parked in front of house on the cut through road it was on. Neighbor fussed us out and said this was not allowed even though her house was on main rd and not on the cut through. Lots of history to house and good for couples

July 2016 Stay
This was our 9th stay in Ocracoke and we have always been pleased with our accommodations. Our current house (Maddie Midgett) while charming, had a few shortfalls. The kitchen lacked necessary cooking utensils; rolling pin, oven gloves, basic stuff for those who cook. Also there was no place to put down hot pans. Why not invest in some trivets?
