Adorable three bedroom lake house - pure relaxation!

This two story house on a small lake is the perfect getaway spot! Enjoy lazy days fishing, swimming or strolling around town. Perfect for family get-togethers or getaways! You will discover that your hosts are friendly and welcoming, but do not interfere with your privacy. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. The large kitchen can seat up to 6 people, and the large side-by-side refrigerator freezer has plenty of room for all your food and beverages (and there is an icemaker). The bathrooms are modern and meticulously clean, with plenty of towels and washcloths. The new washer and dryer, located in the kitchen, make it easy to do laundry while enjoying your vacation or business trip to Kankakee County! Manteno is a charming town and you will love our small town diners. We also have Subway, McDonald's, Wendy's, 2 Mexican food restaurants, Chinese, Gyros, and many pizza places. Just 5-6 miles south of Manteno you can find Cracker Barrel, Olive Garden, Buffalo Wild Wings, Noodles, Texas Road House, Tucci's Italian, Lone Star, Panera Bread, and more. If shopping is your favorite thing you wil also find Kohl's, Target, Marshall's, Ross, Dick's Sporting Goods, Carson's, JC Penney, Office Max, Staples, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Hobby Lobby, Michael's and more. Movies 10 plays current hit films at the Northfield Square Mall 6 miles from here. There are also 2 theaters in Kankakee, Meadowview Theater and the Paramount Theater.

Wonderful Weekend

Our family was comfortable and had plenty of room to have space without being crowded. My teen boys loved using the paddle boat to go between both homes we’d rented for the weekend.

Excellent place to stay!

We love staying at Grace Place! Our family enjoys swimming at nearby Lake Manteno (which is within walking distance), boating and fishing on the smaller lake which is connected to the house, and playing in the large backyard. This is a great vacation spot!

Cute Little Cottage

We stayed here for a short family weekend. The small lake was perfect for paddling around on for an afternoon. We enjoyed the outdoor space and quiet town. The cottage itself was clean and well maintained. I would definitely recommend it for anyone visiting the area.

A+++ Would Go Back!

Great place to go and hang for a weekend. Beautiful little farmhouse bungalow on a small manmade lake. Very clean, and very welcoming hosts! Loved putting around the lake in the paddle boats and hanging out by the firepit. Would 100% go back!

fantastic stay

We choose this place as the base for our trips into chicago and michigan. The hosts are fantastic and think of everything. The kitchen is well stocked so you can actually cook and not buy all the little things like salt, seasoning, ect. We loved the paddle boats and the beds were very comfortable. Will definately look into again if back that way

Great Grace Place!

Grace Place was beautiful. The cottage was comfortable and well stocked. We had a very relaxing weekend. The rain cut our fishing time short but allowed us time to relax together as a family. We enjoyed the time with our grand daughter, son and daughter-in-law. We recommend PJ's for ice cream if you stay and the Mayberry restaurant has very good food.

What an amazing property!

We celebrated my sister's 50th birthday at Grace place and it far exceeded what we expected!! It is hard to put into words how much of a great time we had, how much we appreciated Annette & Rondy's thoughtfulness, and how much we loved the house!!! We had a great time in the lake and in the house. It was nice to have the comforts of home and then some. Thank you again for making our visit very memorable!

Priceless memories made thanks to a wonderful host!

From the moment we arrived and tasted the homemade banana bread left for us, we knew the weekend would be filled with wonderful memories and plenty of good times. Annette was so gracious and kind, not to mention accommodating. She went above and beyond to make our stay phenomenal. All the comforts of home but away from the daily hustle! Everything was close by incase we needed anything from the store and even walked to the local ice cream shop! Plenty to keep the kids entertained and so beautiful! Grace House will hopefully be our yearly family gathering place:-)

Cosy Home Away from Home

We traveled through a blizzard and had a stop in Rochester MN to see a family member that is battling cancer. Because of our late departure we arrived in the dark and snowing and blowing weather. It was so nice to walk into a home and be able to relax and let the problems of the travel there melt away. The home is as cozy as the pictures show. We were able to go to my daughter swim meet and come back and relax and visit. We went to a local church and just made our self at home. I was able to do some work and my daughter worked on homework as we sat in front of the fireplace. I would highly recommend this home to anyone who would like function as a family and have actual chairs to sit in to visit instead of motel beds. Fantastic home if you’re in the area

This house is clean, well appointed, tastefully decorated, and wonderfully located on the lake. The proprietor is easy to reach and extremely responsive to inquiries. My family of three enjoyed our 3 day stay as much as we could have. The home sleeps 6 without overcrowding but I think after 4 people, finding your own space could be a challenge in bad weather. Be advised that the 2 upstairs bedrooms are connected with only a curtain separating them so adults in need of privacy may find that awkward. Hotel space in the Manteno/Kankakee area is somewhat limited during the times of year most would like to visit. So, this property stands out all the more. It is walking distance from the Sportsman’s Club and downtown Manteno. It is convenient to I57 as well. Train tracks are close enough to hear when trains go by. However, we found that to be part of the area’s charm and we adjusted pretty quickly to that. The kitchen has everything that home cooks need to feed whoever can fit in the house. The 1.5 bathrooms leave no disappointments. The neighborhood is quaint and peaceful. If you have reason to visit the Manteno area, you have reason to stay here.

One of our best family vacations ever!

I honestly can't write enough about what a great trip we had to Grace Place. The house is adorable and cozy...with the charm of an older home, but the LaMores have done a great job updating, furnishing, and decorating. We felt right at home on their quiet street, and we became fast friends with the neighbors across the street. Our children were best buddies all week, which made our week even more enjoyable. The LaMores were very gracious hosts and were attentive to our needs. Our boys spent the entire week fishing ... they caught so many we lost count after the first day or so. They even caught several good sized large mouth bass, and a 2 foot catfish! Needless to say, our 10 year old outdoorsman was in heaven. The boats were so much fun for all ages. The lake is ideal for families, friends, or couples who want a quiet retreat. It is a small lake, perfect for paddle boats, and we did not have to worry about loud jet skis or speed boats. PJ's ice cream, which is in walking distance, was almost a daily treat (lemon bar cheese cake flavor is heavenly), and the pizza from Aerulio's was awesome. We barely felt the need to leave Grace Place all week... but from what we saw, Manteno is a lovely town. Next time, I want to take some time to walk around town and visit some of the shops. And there WILL be a next time, despite the fact we are 13 hour drive away... I wish we were closer! Thank you for helping us make many wonderful memories, Annette and Rondy!

Best VRBO stay we've ever had

This cottage was the most homey and comfy place we've ever rented! The neighborhood is great, the house is adorable (the pictures don't do it justice! So charming!) and the BEDS!!! Oh my goodness, I'm usually excited to get home to my own bed, but not this time! The pillows and linens were all wonderful quality. There really is everything you need at this house; tons of extra linens, beach towels, fluffy bath towels, plenty of kitchen staples (I think that depends on what previous guests leave), but SO convenient! It is a fantastic place to get away for a few days and just relax. Lots of cute places to go within driving distance and a totally reasonable drive into the city. The check in and out processes were both super simple too! Can't recommend Annette and Rhondy's place highly enough! I really hope we get to stay with them again sometime.

Relaxing Lakeside, inside and Out

This lovely home is quite large. We came here to end our 11 day vacay to rest for a couple of days!! We did just that! We used Instacart to order in snacks and food to cook. Such hospitable husband and wife team, who greeted us with banana bread and outside as well after we settled in! It was obvious they cared about us having a wonderful stay! I chose to read a book rather than get in the lake, but another day and I might have! I keep thinking of the word spacious! With the living room/sitting room at the entrance of the house, and family/livingroom with many places to sit there is a place for a good sized family to stay here, spread out in different rooms as needed, and outdoors, at the lake, in the lake or walking in this very walkable neighborhood! One of the safest places I've stayed at! Cupboards are stocked with other spices, and canned foods as well! You get a lot here, and I highly recommend you consider making this 'your place' if you are looking for lakeside, family friendly lake time, a place to relax or burn off some energy!! Whether rainy or sunny, you have a great place to have your home away from home!

Members of the Manteno Chamber of Commerce,we are active members of our community and were named Citizens of the Year in 2012.
We founded a volunteer committee of Manteno residents ten years ago to preserve our village owned golf course. The 'Save Our Golf Course, Inc' committee has been in charge of the management of the Manteno Golf Club and Learning Center for the past 8 years. It is a beautiful and well-maintained 18 hole golf course on the east side of Manteno.To book a tee time call 815 468-8827

Our investment property is on the very street we grew up on. We are located in a quiet neighborhood on the north side of town and we still share our quiet street with lifelong neighbors. Our cozy location presents the relaxing views of our small lake. We think it is the perfect 'home away from home.'
