Relaxing Getaway

The cabin was cozy and the sound of the water flowing over the creek rocks was very soothing. What a wonderful way to clear your head and get away from the daily grind. Mallory was wonderful and attentive.

Pretty Outdoor Getaway

The location is a beautiful part of Virginia mountains on the creek. As described, this is “glamping,” so be prepared to rough it a little. I will note that there are multiple similar cabins on the property within sight and earshot of each other. Our only issue is that we seemed to have gotten a different cabin than the one pictured.

Could work for a couple who doesn't mind having neighbors

This cabin could work for a couple that doesn't mind having neighbors. The host was very kind, responsive, and left helpful supplies (utensils, towels, etc.) Our group had one adult and children. Unfortunately the pull out sofa bed in the living room was in very poor condition. The host was aware of it and said she had parts on order to try and fix the problem. No one wanted to sleep on a sagging mattress that was at a pretty extreme tilt. Most of the space inside the cabin was filled with furniture and we had a hard time navigating where we could put our stuff. Like I said, two people in the main bedroom never would have had these problems. For the bunch of us, it wasn't great. I wish I could say the outdoors was better but the fire pit area was in such a state of disrepair that my ten year old daughter saw it and said "it looked better in the pictures." The fire pit was also on the side of the cabin that faced a nearby neighbor who spent a lot of time outside and played his music loud enough to share with us. We only stayed one night and not feeling comfortable inside or outside, we left. The host kindly refunded us our unused nights.

I have lived in Rockingham County my entire life, but I have traveled extensively across the USA and in Europe! I love meeting new people as a host and as a traveler!

Why they chose this property

I chose this neighborhood because it is right in my backyard! While I will give you plenty of space, if you need something during your stay I can make it happen within the hour.

What makes this property unique

These properties (Payne and Weave Cabin of Camp Bearwallow) hold a special kind of charm rooted in simplicity and heart. Imagine families raising their four children in a cozy one-bedroom home, proving that out here in the country, it’s still true—love matters more than the size of the house or the amenities it offers.

Step back in time and experience the warmth, resilience, and connection that make this place so extraordinary. Come see for yourself why simpler living leaves the biggest impression.
