About this property
Village Accomodations - 3 Bedroom Duplex
Welcome to the historic Outer Banks Motel's Village Accommodations! Every cottage on this property was built on the owner's family property which is the fabric of Cape Hatteras. These cottages offer more space and privacy to enjoy your vacation at a lower price than that of our Oceanside Accommodations given that they are located a mile from the beach. They are built on high ground sheltered from the effects of the occasional storm that we're famous for. On clear nights, the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse light blankets the starry skies every seven seconds. All the amenities, such as the saltwater pool and hot tub on the Oceanside Accommodations are included. This duplex known as the Maude-Estes House was recently rebuilt to be a better version of the historic house that stood in this footprint for nearly a century. Each half is a mirror floorplan of each other. Access the front entrance by climbing a few custom brick and stone steps between the rose bushes to the front porch, which boasts a rocking chair and a porch swing. Upon entering, off to the side, there's the living room with comfortable seating and a Smart T.V. Beyond the living room, enter the full kitchen through the custom arched hallway. Full stainless steel kitchen appliances with all the pots, pans, dishes and silverware provided. Off the kitchen is a half-bath with a full-sized coin-operated washer and dryer for your convenience. Access to the back patio is off the kitchen, as well. Back to the front entrance, straight ahead through the door is the full staircase to the second floor. Second floor has a master suite with a full bathtub and shower with a Smart T.V., a second bedroom and another full bathroom, The third-floor staircase accesses the private loft bedroom with views of the Pamlico Sound through the windows. There's ample parking on the property. Pets are not permitted in the duplex.

The place was perfect, clean and well maintained. Just make sure you bring quarters for the washer and dryer lol ( We had a hard time finding a store that sell us change) Very close to the beach, grocery store and gas station. Definitely booking again next summer!

Thank you for staying with us , please visit again
The home was very clean when we arrived. There were a few minor issues during our stay but nothing that would stop us from booking again, since we were only there 3 nights.Enjoyed the outer banks and wish we could have stayed longer. Definitely reccommend .
It was a great stay! 2nd time renting it and looking forward to more! I definitely recommend.

The house itself was nice, but a few issues made our stay disappointing. The biggest issue was the advertised distance to the beach. The listing showed a 1-minute walk to the beach, which was one of the main reasons we chose this property. After traveling across the country, we arrived and discovered the house was actually about one mile from the beach. Instead of a short walk, now we had to load up 2 vehicles with all of our beach gear every time we went to the beach.I contacted the host and provided a screenshot showing the advertised distance. The host explained that another part of the listing stated the correct distance. While this may have been unintentional, the 1-minute walk was clearly displayed and influenced our decision to book. The host offered another oceanfront property, which we appreciated, but it was more expensive and too small for our party. The coin-operated dryer also did not work after putting money into it, although maintenance was sent out. Several pots and pans were heavily scratched and had rust on them and should be replaced.Overall, the house was nice and the host was responsive. Unfortunately, the inaccurate beach distance was a major disappointment since proximity to the beach was the main reason we selected this property.
The place had recently been remodeled and looked nice. It was clean and everything worked. Checking in and out went seamless. Our group will be staying there again. Bring your bug spray. The mosquitoes are bad.
The house itself was beautiful and well kept. The exterior could have been maintained better. The lawn was a bit overgrown and trash was not removed

– Very Disappointing ExperienceOur stay at this Vrbo property was disappointing from the start. Upon arrival, we found multiple small cockroaches on the kitchen floor and dining table, along with a spider in one of the beds. This made us uncomfortable using the kitchen and sleeping in the home.We immediately contacted Vrbo for assistance, expecting help resolving the issue. Instead, Vrbo connected us directly with the property manager. Rather than addressing our concerns professionally, the property manager was rude and used abusive language. We were told to vacate the property without being offered another comparable accommodation or a practical solution. We spent part of our vacation searching for another rental, but because of limited availability, we couldn’t find a suitable alternative. With no realistic option, we stayed and cleaned the kitchen and affected areas ourselves before using them. The next afternoon, someone came to clean, but by then we had already done most of the work ourselves, and the cleaning felt minimal. The beach was also not as conveniently located as we expected. We ended up driving to Frisco Beach to enjoy the ocean. The house has potential, but the cleanliness issues, poor handling of our complaint, and lack of meaningful customer support significantly impacted our vacation. We hope the owner improves housekeeping, pest control, and guest service so future guests have a much better experience.

This guest did nothing but complain in the first 30 minutes of her stay. She claimed the unit was dirty and wanted someone there within the hour at 7:00 in the evening. She complained that the washer and dryer was coin operated and wanted quarters. The outside trash can was full from a previous guest(trash gets emptied twice a week by the county). She also complained of numerous bugs even though the unit had just been treated the previous week for a quarterly treatment. I had our pest control company do an inspection the next morning and they only found one dead house fly. She involved VRBO within 30 minutes of her arrival. I offered to give her a full refund and waited at my office for 3 hours for her to return the keys. She elected to stay instead. I never used abusive language at all. This is the newest and nicest unit that I manage. The listing clearly indicates that this property is 1 mile from the beach. Nothing could have made this guest happy. In the six years since I built this duplex, this is the first guest that wanted to leave. This was a frustrating experience for me as a host as we try to make our guest's stay enjoyable.
Well kept clean property inside and out just a few minutes drive from local beaches. Property is quiet despite being on the main road through town. Loved the room at this property, the friendliness of the staff, and how safe we felt in the area. Only negative were slow to almost nonexistent internet access which tends to come in handy on those rainy days.
