My husband and I stayed here for 8 days and enjoyed being away from the busyness but still close enough for quick trips. Casa de Emdeko is quiet, laid back, and has a special community feel—evening gatherings, BBQs, conch blowing at sunset… We enjoyed the private “beach” and saltwater pool immensely! We would definitely stay here again and recommend for people who want a quiet retreat and home base with the ability to cook at home.

We are thrilled you have stayed in one of our Grand Welcome homes and would love to invite you back in the future. Please let us know what we can do to make your stay even better for next time!
Great quiet condo with wonderful amenities and excellent location. Condo was very clean and well-stocked for our needs. All instructions were very clear and helpful. Two nice pools (one saltwater on the ocean) and a great beach to chill on under the palm trees. Great outdoor lanai dining area and built in couch. Would stay again as a couple as there is only one bedroom*. Amazing property!

Raw
The big island is raw and harsh. Casa de Emdeko was equally as raw. The pool was a welcome reprieve. The beaches were rugged. The hotel was nothing special, but lacked in nothing either, except there was no washer dryer which we thought there would be one, so we used the same dirty towel all 7 days. That bothered my wife.

Comfortable… but needs a new cleaning crew.
The air conditioner was broke and I reported it three times. I stopped using it when it started pouring water on the floor. Upon my arrival - Dirty towel was in closet, trash was left in kitchen can and was moldy, Comet was poured into toilet and left that way, shower door is broke, hairdryer is broke, frig is extremely loud. I will return to the complex but not this unit and not with Grand Welcome. I lived in Kona 15 years and am NOT writing about normal salt-water wear and tear. This just needs repairs and cleaning.
My wife and I stayed for eight nights in May. The complex is a little dated but very nice overall. There is a salt water pool as well as a chlorinated pool. The complex was very friendly, each evening there was cocktails or a potluck and coffee in the morning. The condo is very clean and well appointed. I would stay there again in a second.

Decent location and property, but condo 203 needs a good scrub down.
Fairly good location and property. Kitchen is well equipped, but the condo is dirty. The dust on the faux orchids beside the bed is so thick it could be measured. Tile in bathroom is grungy and the shower door and tracks are unacceptably filthy. Place is quiet, you can hear the person upstairs walking around.

The stay
The location was great and the property was great. The unit and furniture was a little dated minus the kitchen. It looked pretty new.
This property was clean and superb for our stay. We enjoyed the salt water pool, the central pool and the fabulous location right on the water and near the village.

Travel to Hawaii is problematic without imposing more restrictions
We had to submit our 24 hour antigen test results to the property manager before we could get our access code. We did not get our welcome package I was wondering the time frame indicated and we had to call them the day if our arrival. This was not disclosed earlier and strikes me as bizarre since the antigen test is a requirement to enter the Country. This made the entire checkin process more stressful than needed.
This is a lovely home with everything I needed. The saltwater pool is my favorite part. It's right on the ocean with a lava retaining wall. The ocean sprays into the pool through the railing and creates waves. So lovely and relaxing.
We enjoyed the waterfront pool with the waves splashing into the pool and the sandy beach. The grounds were lovely and central location made it efficient to head north or south.
The entire property in itself was lovely if you opted to stay in for the day and not venture out to any beaches. Parking was kinda of annoying, as the property is gated (which is great), but 100% of the time there weren’t enough spots inside the gate for us to park so we always ended up on the outside. It’s not a HUGE deal but seemed a bit silly to me there wouldn’t be enough parking spots for all guests. The shower in the unit is quite small, and I’m pretty sure the toilet bowl was never cleaned before our arrival. Overall our stay was fine, but I don’t think I would come back to this particular place, especially for the price I paid (we were there at a high season point, which I assume is why we paid so much).

Hi Courtenay,
Thank you for your feedback about your stay with us on the Big Island. I have shared your review with our Big Island manager and the housekeeping team to make sure that the toilet bowl is cleaned. Unfortunately, during the peak season, parking can be tough since there are more guests. Thank you!
Upon arrival, it was apparent air conditioning was not working properly. In spite of numerous emails saying they “were there” if we had any problems or concerns, we had to call 3-4 times different numbers to request assistance. Emails went unanswered. If we had not continued to follow up, we likely would have had 80+ degree condo for the entire week. As it was, we did not get service till following day. And air conditioning instructions do not match operation.
Air conditioning smells bad and needs overhaul.
Shower is quite disgusting and not updated. Couch has black stains leaving you to wonder how clean it is. Had to clean coffee pot multiple times before using. The grounds are beautiful and people lovely. I would not rent this room again.

Hi Kat,
We are extremely sorry for the lack of communication from our team. We have noticed issues with phone calls being dropped and have addressed this issue immediately. Our team has checked on the AC and the shower issues mentioned. The maintainence team confirmed that the AC is working and the shower has been professionally cleaned again. Thank you!

Wonderful Stay
Truely enjoyed the entire facility. Common areas, open and easily accessible. The room, bed, and balconey area very comfortable and clean. Beautiful courtyard and enjoyed both pools. Took advantage of the in house library. The laundry facilities were clean and reasonable. If we go back to Kona this is where we would like to stay.

A perfect place in paradise!
We were thrilled with our stay in this condo! The location was ideal, the property clean and quiet, the other guests and tenants very friendly. The condo itself was updated and nicely appointed, we especially wanted to take the shower head home with us! It had everything we needed, including beach towels, a fabulous beach mat and even snorkel gear. We plan on making our visit to Kona an annual event and will definitely stay here again! Mahalo!
