Elizabeth and John are such terrific hosts! Super communicative and attentive, and the place is exactly as advertised. Such beautifully cozy decor too! Count your lucky stars for off-street parking too, what a luxury in Portland!
Apartment was very clean and the location was wonderful. Easy walk to the Portland Art Museum and the Old Port - where we spent most of our time. Fortunately we had a small car (a Toyota Prius) but it would have been impossible to park anything larger in the designated spot, so I urge others to read the fine print in this listing when it comes to parking. Elizabeth, our host, replied quickly to all our messages. I would also point out that the stairs to the bedrooms on the second floor were pretty steep, and being in our 70's it was a little daunting. Overall, a pleasant stay.
We had a great stay! The place was spacious and extremely clean. The kitchen was well-stocked. Great location that was in walking distance to many restaurants. We could also walk to the Sea Dogs baseball stadium for a game.
From the unassuming side street and exterior, the unit has a great layout with thoughtful, interesting, eclectic decor. Everything was very clean, though there were some old home odors upstairs. The kitchen was great, living area very comfortable, and the kids enjoyed playing with the toys. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat.
Very walkable to cute main street for restaurants, shopping, the apartment itself is adorable and well-furnished (and quiet!). Thanks for the helpful restaurant recs. One tip: both bedrooms are upstairs and the stairs are a bit steep (if anyone has mobility issues)
We had a perfect stay in this wonderful apartment right in the heart of Portland. The apartment was very clean and had everything we needed, even soap and shampoo in the bathroom! It was extremely comfortable and spacious enough for our family of 4 (two parents and two boys, ages 8 and 10). I highly recommend and would stay here again in a heartbeat. Elizabeth was extremely easy to chat with and responded to my messages usually within minutes of me sending a message to her. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!
We recently stayed at this property in Portland, Maine. The home has some nice features, but a few things didn’t quite match the listing, especially considering the high price point for an August stay in Portland. The main concern was the air conditioning. The listing notes that the property has AC, but there is no air conditioning on the main floor — only window units in the upstairs bedrooms. During our stay, temperatures were over 90 degrees, and the ground floor became very uncomfortable. When we asked, we were told there was a fan in the kitchen, which helped a bit, but we still had to run the upstairs units constantly and try to pull cool air downstairs. If the listing had been clearer, we could have planned differently. The location was also a surprise. The home sits at the end of an alley that felt more run down than expected based on the photos and description. While the interior was generally fine, the setting didn’t quite match what we thought we were booking.Overall, none of these issues would necessarily be major on their own, but the combination — especially at this price point — made the stay feel less comfortable and less accurately represented than we hoped. Updating the listing to reflect the actual AC setup and the surrounding area would really help future guests set the right expectations.
Parking is indeed challenging but this was fully disclosed. Location can’t be beat. This home feels like someone’s actual vacation place rather than a flip / rental property. There is quirky decor and good books on the shelves. Beds were very comfy. Big, functional kitchen. Hosts were communicative. Fully recommend this place to anyone exploring Portland on foot.
Great location. Very walkable to fun boutiques, markets, laundromat, Tandem coffee, and delicious restaurants. Smooth check-in/check-out process and extremely helpful hosts; good communication. Well appointed and comfortable kitchen, living space, and bedrooms. For those with mobility concerns, the bathroom is on the first floor and the bedrooms are on the second floor. The stairs are narrow and steep. There is access to a small backyard, but it would be amazing if that space were better maintained.
We were really here to sleep after site seeing in the area. Hosts were great.l, and all detailed instructions were helpful. We had a Hyundai Sonata which fit well in the parking spot. Property was very clean, and had cute toys my kids enjoyed. Beds were comfy. I personally loved perusing all the cookbooks in the kitchen!
