About this property
Poe Themed Home Close to Beaches and DE Turf
Looking for a unique stay in Delaware? Check out our Edgar Allan Poe themed house. 3 bedrooms and 1 full bath in an historic house built in the late 1800’s. In the heart of beautiful downtown Milford, you’ll be able to walk to coffee shops, restaurants and the historic Riverwalk.
**THERE IS NOT A FULL KITCHEN IN THIS UNIT, just a very basic kitchenette. There is a microwave, keurig coffee maker, refrigerator, and toaster oven available for your convenience.
PLEASE DO NOT BOOK IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETELY READ THE LISTING. THIS IS A THEMED AIR BNB AND HAS DECOR THAT REFLECTS THE WRITING OF EDGAR ALLAN POE WHICH IS DARK AND MACABRE.
The Poe House is an immersive experience. From the themed rooms to the decor, you'll find the Poe House to be a dive into the unique and unusual. The decor within is macabre and odd in decorative taste.
The space has 3 full bedrooms and a full bath upstairs. A common living room space and dining area. The art work is hand selected and unique to the space. Some art work and decor may be too scary for young children.
There are stairs to the 2nd floor that are steep. Keep in mind this is an historic house built in the late 1800's.
This is also in a multi unit building. Noise must be kept to a minimum so other guests are not disturbed. Quiet time is from 10 pm to 8 am.
This unit is completely private and separate but there are other units within the same building.
I am available in person and by phone for your stay. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if there’s anything you need.

Good for what we needed. House was a little too themey but served the purpose for us.

Should understand the theme of Edgar Alan Poe. Borderline spooky but not scary. Lends itself to Gothic. Clean comfortable beds. Old building in good condition. Great location.
The house is cute, very clean, and well situated. The town is also very cute with a great little river walk.Has your basics so don't expect to cook a big meal - no real kitchen, which is clearly stated in the description. The code didn't work for us to get into the house. Cat communicated almost immediately but it took an hour to get the code to go in. I understand access to streaming services are not included in most rentals but codes for local channels should be given or that information should be added to the description. Poe Themed is an understatement. Poe's work is interesting and good but all three of us felt a bit overwhelmed by the amount of Poe paraphernalia.
In general the property needs updating. We had some safety concerns as follows. First the front porch and bench is in need of repair and hand rails. Living room carpet need tacked down on the corners currently a tripping hazard. Staircase to upstairs could use another hand rail being the steps are steep. Second floor smoke alarms were in need of being secured to ceiling and in working condition. Better lighting outside the house in front. Concerns with structural deficiencies in bathroom flooring. We had difficulty sleeping at night due to the excessive gunning of motorcycles engines and trucks all through the night. We stayed Monday through Friday so this was not weekend traffic. The overall flair of the Poe house was underwhelming. However the neighbors were excellent. The home was very clean and the furniture was in good condition.
Comfortable beds, meticulous details of EA Poe throughout, walking distance to adorable Dolce’ for coffee and pastries, and lovely Milford charm are a few of the outstanding qualities of this home away from home.
This was a great place to stay while we were dropping our daughter off for her sr. year at DSU! The location was central to her house in Camden, the beaches in Rehoboth and nature/marsh/beaches of southern Delaware Bay. We really enjoyed getting ice cream and walking the riverwalk. The house itself was fantastic!! It is an old house so be aware of that. We actually appreciated the character and charm that the history added to the experience over a 'new' property. The water pressure in the shower was average and not having running water on the main level wasn't too inconvenient since we were only the a few days but a longer stay (or with children) it might be an issue. The Poe theme was tasteful and not overdone. The owner responded quickly and professionally. Parking is one building over but it is well lit, plenty of space and free!Overall, this is a great place to stay, highly recommend it and we're hoping to book again for Equestrian ECACs and graduation.
