We had a great weekend at The Cottage. It was the perfect location close to restaurants and shopping on the town square. Would definitely recommend staying here!
Went to visit Prescott for a couple of days we rented this place. It was amazing. It has everything you ever wanted in a house. I think it was one of the best VRBO’s I rented. I will definitely go back here. You will not find a better place in Prescott.

Thank you for your kind words. Since The Cottage is very close to the Historic Courthouse downtown square and the backyard is quaint and shaded during the summer, The Cottage is virtually booked year round with long term renters of one to four months.
So I am happy it was available for your stay, and we are very much looking forward to your future stays.

Cozy, Cute and Close to the Courthouse
This is the only place we would ever want to stay when spending time in Prescott. The townhouse is adorable, the location is spectacular, and the owner is wonderful to work with. We plan to keep coming back every year!

Always a great place to stay
This is the third year we rented from Larry and our stay has always been a great escape from the summer heat of southern Arizona. His assistant, Pauline does excellent work and we hired her mid-stay to clean the Cottage. Great location, pet-friendly, and close to downtown Prescott.

historic house in historic Prescott
We enjoyed staying in an historic house that was updated. Very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the outside patio under the trees at all times of the day. Walking to the square was wonderful.

A Perfect Prescott AZ Hideaway!
Complete with all amenities...this lovely, bright, and airy 2 bedroom cottage was a perfect retreat during our recent visit to Prescott, Arizona. Larry Schmidt, the owner, was most gracious and accommodating. My husband and I highly recommend this property to anyone seeking the comforts of a charming home, in a quiet neighborhood, with close proximity to the old town of Prescott. If our travels bring us back to Prescott, we would stay here again in a heartbeat! Thank you, Larry for helping to make our Prescott visit a comfortable and happy one! Nancy and Ken

Great Place to Stay!
The Cottage is just as nice as the pictures show. The home is spotless, the beds are comfortable, the patio is expansive (we spent a lot of time there), and the kitchen is well appointed. Larry was great to work with and his suggestions of Bin 239 and Rosa's Pizzeria were great, and we especially enjoyed the evening specials at Rosa's (it is so close, we walked there). My wife and I truly appreciated that Larry allowed us to bring along our little miniature schnauzer--she loved the patio too!
Goldwater, Lynx and Watson lakes are an easy drive so we visited each and especially enjoyed hiking the trail around Lynx and picnicking at Goldwater Lake.
We would recommend this home to others and would definitely stay at The Cottage again.

Thanks for the kind words. The large rear Cottage patio is very peaceful and relaxing, and it is a consistent positive comment from my renters. Prescott is becoming well known for its hiking and biking trails, particularly the trails at Watson, Willow, Lynx and Goldwater Lakes as you noted, which are a short drive from The Cottage.
One of my favorite restaurants as well, is Bin 239. Their wine Sangria is fantastic. Hopefully you will become a repeat renter at The Cottage, and next time try eating at El Gato Azul. This is also a big favorite of mine with their Spanish Tapas menu and unusual main courses. Hope to see you.
Sincerely, Larry

A Great Place To Stay
Recently, while house hunting in Prescott, we wanted to stay close to the downtown area. The Cottage was the perfect choice - charming, comfortable, and it provided everything we needed to enjoy a week in Prescott. The outdoor patio was a great place to sit and relax after days of looking at homes! The evenings were cool (April) so watching movies and the gas fireplace made us feel right at home. Reservations were a breeze and we spoke personally with Larry Schmidt, the owner. His representative met us at The Cottage and showed us where everything was located and answered all of our questions. A very positive experience and we offer our unqualified recommendation – a great place to stay when in Prescott.

Thanks for the kind words. I hope your house hunting went well. I just read in yesterday's (June 8th) USA Today newspaper that Prescott is the number 3 most desirable U.S. city for retirees and semi-retirees to relocate to. So you better come back and finalize on a house before the onslaught of transferees occurs in Prescott!!
Many of the renters that I get in the winter and early spring are from out of state, and in particular the Midwest, trying out Prescott's mild winter and spring weather. Prescott has a true 4 seasons, and each season is mild, so that you can enjoy the tremendous amount of outdoor activities (hiking, biking, kayaking, etc...).
You two are welcome back anytime, and I hope you ultimately decide to become Prescottonians in the near future.
Sincerely Larry

Clean & Charming
Larry,
This is such a charming home . The home is tastefully decorated with a unique charm. So clean and spacious with so much pantry & drawer space. I so appreciated the lighting system all around the house .
Loved the side patio off the living room. Very private and secure for your pets. I can attest that my dog Marley enjoyed this house too. Enjoyed all the many walks around the historic neighborhood and the town square is just a few minutes walk. Goldwater and Lynx Lakes are just an easy 5 minute drive. Great place to hike and fish.
Would return again and for a longer stay. We didn't want to leave.
Thanks,
Sandy
Excellent location and beautiful property - dog friendly
We decided to do a last minute getaway to Prescott to enjoy the holiday celebrations - which are fantastic! This property has the ideal location that is close to center of town but still gives you a great historic neighborhood feel. The home has plenty of room and provides all the comfort of home. We took our pup so the patio was extremely convenient. Larry was a pleasure to work with. Definitely our go-to for all future trips to Prescott!
This cottage is absolutely beautiful and quaint! Very close to all the action. I LOVED the garden tub and the water was hotter than my own at home! Great communication with property owner. I would 100% rent again!! Without hesitation.
Great home. Great location. Great experience!
We are already booked to come back soon!

Perfect in every way.
I cannot praise this house enough. It is spacious, sparkling clean, and beautifully appointed. The location is a five minute walk to the charming downtown and excellent restaurants. But the best thing about the house was the wonderful patio. Our extended family, in town for the ERAU graduation, came over for a barbecue, and the beautiful landscaping and ample outdoor seating made the afternoon and evening a delight. Everyone commented on how lovely the house was. An award plaque for best historical restoration was well deserved. If you are coming to Prescott, this is the place to stay!

About the host
Hosted by Larry Schmidt
Larry Schmidt, owner of the Terrace, Townhouse, and Cottage, welcomes you to his VRBO units. Larry is still working for a company out of Minnesota and travels extensively. He enjoys golf, hiking, and traveling. Larry feels Prescott represents the charm of the West with midwestern values which is illustrated by the community centric Historic Square.
Why they chose this property
When The Cottage became available for purchase in the spring of 2012, I jumped at the opportunity to purchase this unique and fantastic property. I had watched this property over the prior years, and always felt that its street appeal and exceptional location were perfect for travelers exploring all that Prescott and The Historic Downtown Square has to to offer. In addition as a result of The Great Recession, our 401K like many others became a '201K'!!! I have made substantial improvements to the outside patio ('The Plaza') resulting in a fabulous venue, especially for long term guests for one or more months.
This property has been a labor of love, but it is now a shining jewel nestled in the residential historic district. All day long people stroll around the block with their dogs admiring the array of historic and eclectic homes, and The Cottage is a significant part of the area.
What makes this property unique
This property is like a private home which is very close to all of the activities of the Historic downtown square, yet nestled in a quiet well kept neighborhood. The street appeal of the Dutch Bungalow architecture is charming.
