cozy cabin

Beautiful, secluded cabin in the woods. Great place for a family or couples. It was clean and well-kept and the owner was very friendly and helpful. Visiting kids loved the treehouse over the carport, the tree swings and outside fire pit. We enjoyed seeing the all the wildlife, including the bears. The only downside was that you have to go down several slippery rock steps to access the cabin which are very hazardous when wet.

worst place ever

We have rented several homes on VRBO . This is the first disappointment. I've come to expect certain things from vacation rentals and this place failed miserably. We actually went into town and found another place to stay. It was old, dirty and smelled bad. One bed was unmade. I called the owner to explain what happened and asked for a refund. I haven't heard back from him........VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!! This was an expensive (because we paid for two cabins) 4 day trip.

Great Cabin, Wonderful Host, Just what we needed!

Jerry was a great host. He met us at the cabin upon arrival. He was very friendly and gave us all information that we needed. Loved the cabin and location. It was secluded in the woods, but close to town. The back porch was great for relaxing on and listening to the sounds of the forest and the creek below. We thoroughly enjoyed the outside fire pit and fireplace. We used them every night after coming back from our daily adventures. The cabin was comfortable and just as described in the description. We had everything we needed. Our 5 year old grandson also loved it. We explored around the cabin, swung in the swings, took walks and there was plenty of videos and games for him to play. Would definitely recommend this cabin for a family vacation.

Great Family Getaway

From start to finish, we had an amazing vacation! The cabin had ample privacy, but it was located close to many of the area's attractions: whiteside mountain, sliding rock, Cashiers, Highlands, many waterfalls, etc. The owner, Jerry, met us at the cabin to show us around and make sure that everything was okay. The DVD library was extensive and there was plenty of firewood. Everything at the cabin was in working order and all of the essientials were available. It set the scene for a great experience!

Beautiful mountain hideaway.

This is a great property to sit on a porch, enjoy a hammock, check out the bosains lift chair, and just relax to the sounds of nature. The creek at the bottom of the mountain gives a lovely constant background to the birds, deer, turtles, frogs, and other woodland creatures who share this mountain home. There is a lovely fire pit and an outdoor fireplace. Also keep your eye out for all the opportunities to relax on a swing on this property. There are lots of them. The kitchen is quite useable although there is really room for only one cook at a time. The beds are all quite comfortable. You have your choice of a shower or a bath which is quite nice. This one definitely goes on our recommend list.

Off the Beaten Path, But Very Nice

If you're looking for a nice cabin away from the crowds, and a way to disconnect from everything, this is the place. The owner, Jerry, built this cabin at the end of a long, winding, single-lane road. There are neighbors nearby but you can't see or hear them. The air is crisp and the views are very nice. Jerry took the time to call us the day before check-in and provide supplemental driving direction which we were glad we had because GPS was sketchy in spots and both ATT and Verizon service are not reliable as you get closer to the cabin. Jerry was also kind enough to wait for us to arrive 2 hours later than we had anticipated. Once there, he provided all kinds of area information for hikes, restaurants, and other things to see and do. He showed us all the features of the cabin and helped us with luggage. One of the neat features are the chainsaw carvings of owls in the trees and the one large totem by the entrance to the cabin. Unfortunately, it rained the entire time we were there so we couldn't take advantage of Jerry's insights about the area, but we made the best of an amazing DVD collection and watched a lot of movies and listened to the rain. So be prepared if you book - there is no Internet, WiFi, non-existent cell reception (Verizon had 1 bar) and no TV. It was perfect for us to watch movies, read books, and simply connect with each other. Cashiers is about 15 minutes away and Highlands about 30 minutes. We took advantage of both towns and enjoyed some great restaurants in both locations. Driving back at night can be a little scary but I think that was because of the rain and low clouds blanketing the road. We had a great time and look forward to trying again next fall - hopefully without the rain!

Laid back, relaxing, away from the crowds, yet only 15 minutes from Cashiers, a perfect hideaway.

If you are looking for privacy, convenience in a beautiful wooded environment along with all the amenities stated in their portfolio you have found the place. Above all, was the pleasure of meeting the owner Jerry Hopkins from Atlanta who met us upon our arrival and assisted in helping us get settled. He and his twin brother built the cabin themselves. A wonderful cabin well and comfortably furnished. A great place to relax with family and friends

Cabin surrounded by nature

This is a great cabin with a great owner. This was the second time we stayed in this cabin and both times were great experiences for me and the kids! Jerry, the owner, was more than accommodating and the cabin was so nice and peaceful. If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and get out into the mountains this is your cabin! There is also Fowler Creek right down the drive that you can hear at night. What an awesome place!!

Lovely wooded area, wonderfully crafted home, Mr. Hopkins is a great guy and so welcoming!

We were extremely disappointed in the lack of cleanliness of the cabin. We spent our first 2 hours cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms to a level that we were comfortable with. I paid a cleaning fee that I feel I should be refunded for. We also left a day earlier than planned due to the lack of amenities that was NOT clearly stated in the summary of the property. I felt that the “ad” for this property is very misleading and overstated. We will not return to this particular cabin nor recommend it. I am a travel consultant and would get horrible feedback if I sent my clients there.

Great secluded cabin yet close to everything

We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Very quiet and peaceful yet less that 15 minutes to town in Cashiers. The outdoor fireplace was great for cool evenings. The porch has a wonderful view and was perfect for mornings sipping coffee, looking at nature and reading a book. If you enjoy games and videos there are tons of options available. Overall, we had a great experience and the owner couldn't be nicer.

Great setting for a mountain experience

This was a neat cabin that was built by the owner. Feels like a treehouse with views out every window. The kitchen was a bit small if you will be doing a lot of cooking. There is a great outdoor fireplace and a firepit. Nice way to escape the heat of a Florida summer!

Quiet get away spot

Clean, fully functional cabin at a very reasonable price. We felt like we had been dropped in the middle of a forest. The cabin is surrounded by trees and is peaceful setting. Kitchen is fairly well stocked with cooking kit and the beds were comfortable. Cashiers is just minutes away as is Highlands; both are lovely little places to shop, eat, and relax. Best part was there's almost no cell phone coverage and no TV other than DVDs. The cabin has a DVD collection of 100's of films. We spent several nights watching older films while listening to the night life of the woods.

a cabin with a view

We went to this hideaway for my husband's birthday. What a wonderful stay!! The view from the deck is something you have to see for yourself. Had great time seeing the many waterfalls in the area. This is a place we will come to again and again.

My favorite mountain desitnation.

I have stayed at this cabin numerous times. When I think about Cashiers, THIS is where my thoughts go. The cabin is perfect with the garden tub, the wraparound porch and especially the privacy. Everything works and the view is fabulous. I love having coffee on the deck while listening to the stream below. Needless to say, I enjoy the proximity to Cashiers and Highlands, as well as the many waterfalls in the area. I can't recommend this cabin highly enough.
