The master bedroom suite, which opens to a covered patio overlooking the back yard, has a queen-size bed and en suite bath featuring a large roll-in shower and double sink vanity. The two additional bedrooms each have a comfortable full-size bed, ample closet space and a ceiling fan. The kitchen is fully furnished with 4-burner gas stove and oven, microwave, dishes, utensils, and pots & pans. Spacious dining room has seating for 6. DirecTV and WiFi internet access provided. Large back yard with fire pit, gas grill, and picnic table. Off-street parking and space for your boat trailer. This is a great location for fishermen! The cottage is just 3 minutes away from the DNR boat launch at the mouth of the Saginaw River for quick Saginaw Bay access. There's a bait shop and convenience store just a short walk away.

Great Stay

We came to the area for fishing and shopping! It was a great location and great place to stay! We enjoyed our stay and the eggs and syrup were a nice touch! The house was very clean and comfortable!

Wonderful home to stay at!

Our 2nd stay there and did not disappoint. Very peaceful in the large backyard, that allows for visitors to stop by. The owners are always friendly and polite. The decor brings back memories of staying at my grandparents house. The 6 of us really loved it!

Good Choice

The cottage was clean and was in a good location. Convenient to shopping and downtown Bay City. It is located a few minutes from Bay City Park. We plan to stay again.

Great option in the area

The host was very responsive with communication. There was enough room for everyone and it was close to SVSU. The boys enjoyed a meal at the bar and grill that was very close. Great experience for all.

Walk to Lake Huron

We loved renting this property. The gardens and chickens in the backyard were delightful. The owners have thought of everything! Only a 2 block walk to Lake Huron!

Great place to stay

Wonderful place to stay. The house is set up with every convenience and so comfortable. The yard is large with beautiful plantings. Two outdoor seating areas. Excellent parking space available for truck/boat trailer and visitors. Neighborhood felt very safe. The hosts are a pleasure to interact with. Cannot say enough good things about this rental. Hope to stay again.

We had a wonderful stay in Bay City! The house was super cute and comfortable! It was less than a 10-minute drive to the downtown area. The place was fully stocked with basic bath/shower supplies. The kitchen was equipped with appliances and cooking essentials. The hosts provided us with detailed instructions about check-in and check-out. Overall, great experience!

The Wonderful Wenona Cottage

My family (husband, 12 yr boy, and 14 yr girl) loved our week at the cottage. Everyone had their own room/space. It was especially wonderful that the primary room was on the opposite side of the house and had an exterior door, coffee maker, mini fridge, and full bath! The house is surprisingly spacious. We were able have my siblings and their kids over for a taco dinner. The backyard was perfect for morning coffee, as well as, campfires and s’mores. The location worked perfect for us and the convenience off the party store across the street can’t be beat!

Perfect place for a weekend getaway!

We loved this place for our family of 4 for the weekend. Alan is a really nice owner and made sure our stay was perfect! Place has everything you need. You just have to make a stop at the store and your good for your stay. Fresh chicken eggs readily available! Chickens on property! We took our teens to Frankenmuth. Cute german town, even people dressed in costumes. Teens enjoyed it! We'll definitely stay here again our next trip to Michigan! We went fishing off of Wenona Beach...didn't catch anything but got some decent bites. Next time, we'll get a boat. Beach was breathtaking! William & Beth

Fabulous Retro Cottage

Clean, comfortable cozy cottage full of 1970s style decor. Saw my grandparents rocking chair, my aunts kitchen table, parents lamp shades and ship The house is well played out...MBR phenomenal with a fridge and mini bar area, & upgraded double master shower, full loaded kitchen and classy bar area. Huge dining room! Back yard, patio, fire fit, I could go on and on. Price is very reasonable and we used the house as central location for day trips, and then unwinded at a place that fell like home. We would come back in a heart beat! Thank you Tim and Alan

Property was in excellent condition

First thing I would do is to take 5 minutes and walk the property and look at the rental book Alan has left for you. We had everything we needed to make meals except a pizza cutter. Alan has marked where everything is so you can easily find and replace needed utensils. Washer/Dryer ready to use and he even has detergent for you to use we bought our own only because we didn't realize he had available. This is a perfect lake house, feels like a lake/vacation house and decorated like one. Very comfortable living everything works and is very suitable for extended stays. Quiet neighborhood with minimal traffic on main road we didn't do to much in Bay City but we could of accessed anything we needed in the main part of the town which is about 3 to 4 miles away. Alan provided great customer service and I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to be in the area. We would definitely stay at the cottage again.

Wenona Cottage is co-owned by Alan and Tim. Alan is a retired public school teacher and Tim works locally as a chemist.
Tim manages the bookings and answers the questions about bookings and logistics while Alan manages the physical upkeep and in person interactions with our guests.

Why they chose this property

The driving purpose behind Wenona Cottage is to eventually provide easily accessible accommodations for Tim's ageing parents, then, as time moves along, for ourselves.
After purchasing the house we spent a little more than 2 years bringing it up to where it is today. We cleared and landscaped the yard, upgraded the exterior, reconfigured the interior flow and use, remodeled, insulated, upgraded utilities, furnished and decorated.

What makes this property unique

Wenona Cottage has woods next to and behind it, making it fairly secluded and quiet. Our home is next door, so were easily accessible. Across the street is a bait shop/convenience/liquor store. A few steps further is the Bay View Bar with a pretty good menu, fair prices and entertainment on weekends. For fishermen, the Saginaw Bay is a few steps further from the cottage, and the DNR boat launch just 1-1/2 miles to the east on the Saginaw River access to the Bay. The cottage is 3 miles from Walmart, about 5 miles from the downtown business districts and about 20 minutes from world famous Frankenmuth, 30 minutes from Midland's beautiful Dow Gardens, 45 minutes from the Birch Run Outlets.
