New cottage refresh April 2024 including new paint (walls and ceiling) and new vinyl plank flooring throughout. The spacious open concept design and large windows allow you to relish in the gorgeous view of Mink Bay and surrounding cliffs. Enjoy the convenience of a kitchen with basic sundries and a washer & dryer for longer stays. Pamper yourself in the hot tub after a day of hiking/snowshoeing the scenic trails and enjoy the stars...they shine brighter here! Please note that VRBO requires us to disclose the location and coverage of our security camera in this description. We have one actively recording outdoor security camera to monitor the driveway / shed at the cottage.

This extremely clean, beautifully decorated home on lake Superior was a pleasure to stay in! Everything that was needed was provided for an enjoyable stay, and the details were contained in a manual for the hot tub, electronics, and heating system. We loved our stay! The hot tub is clean and we really enjoyed relaxing on the deck after hikes; this is a real gem.

We had a wonderful time at Loon’s Nest! We wanted a place where we could connect as a family before we left our eldest at Lakehead - and this was perfect! The kitchen and bathroom were well appointed, the hot tub sparkling clean and the view was perfect. Lots of board games to play and comfortable places to sit. It is 45min away from the University so it feels like a true getaway! Brian was a great and communicative host!

We loved it here! The house is cute and cozy with a great view.

This house is a little off the beaten path which was exactly what we were looking for. Comfortable and cozy and accommodated my family of 5 with a nice patio and outdoor sitting area. Our stay at Loon’s Nest was exceptional. Our host Brian was very informative and helpful and gave suggestions about places to see. Serene cottage

Our stay at the Loon’s Nest was delightful. The cottage was bright and clean with very comfortable furnishings. The view is amazing from nearly every window! We found the space to be well stocked with everything we might need and had some nice touches like the bathrobes and local soap. We had a wonderful time!

Short and Sweet

we did not get to stay long, but it was great. Hot tub was perfect for the cool days and nights. Fire ring kept us warm while we looked for the Northern Lights. 30 minutes from Thunder Bay, so you can get your city needs and then retreat to the wilds of Lake Superior.

Great place to stay for us

This was an absolutely great place to stay for us! We came to Canada to ski Loch Lomond but didn't want to stay in a hotel. Brian was great - very easy check in, all instructions given, and he was available for any questions. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay that isn't in the city (it is about 30 minutes to Thunder Bay and the nearest grocery store). Gorgeous scenery, outdoor hot tub, and all the comforts of home. Highly recommend!

My partner and I stayed here during the holidays this year. The property was very clean and well kept, inside the property was absolutely stunning. It was so beautifully decorated and impeccably clean as well as well stocked with pretty much anything you may need during your stay. The hottub was so relaxing and clean. The Ultimate Luxury Stay

This cabin was meticulously clean and beautifully decorated. It has everything..hot tub, 2 fire pits, and a beautiful view of Lake Superior. Honeymooning @ The Loon's Nest!

The Loon's Nest was exactly what we needed. They have thought of everything, very well decorated and supplies for anything you could possibly need. Hot tub was fabulous and breathtaking views of Lake Superior. We saw a fox, many birds, and a bear twice! He ran across the driveway and across the lawn while we were walking down to the water! 10/10 would definitely stay again. Brian was very easy to communicate with and check in/out was seamless. Thanks for a beautiful stay!

A slice of paradise

My partner and I had an amazing stay at The Loon’s Nest on Lake Superior. We had time to reconnect with nature and each other. It was as if time slowed down. Our hosts were extremely professionally and organized and provided detailed instructions for how to best enjoy our stay. The property was extremely clean and the kitchen well equipped. We would not hesitate to revisit the property and hope to do so soon.

We (Brian, Catharine and Eloise) live in Thunder Bay and enjoy escaping to our cottage whenever we can. We love sharing our getaway with guests and strive to make your stay as easy and enjoyable as possible.

Why they chose this property

A gorgeous lakefront property on spectacular north shore of Lake Superior. And yes we do have lake access right out front so you are welcome to bring your water toys, go for a quick dip if you are brave or just sit on the shore and enjoy the view. We are located approximately 45 minutes from the Thunder Bay Airport (YQT) and the city of Thunder Bay proper. To our American guests, our cottage is 45 minutes (30 miles) from the Pigeon River Border Crossing and 5 1/2 hours (330 miles) from Minneapolis/Saint Paul
