About this property
Cozy Cabin Forest Retreat with Wood Fired Hot Tub
Discover the natural beauty of Vashon Island from the comfort of a cozy, modern tiny cabin. A short ferry ride from Seattle or Tacoma, The Wolf Den is tucked away in the forest, offering the perfect retreat for couples or solo travelers seeking a restorative getaway. With all the amenities for a relaxing stay, you’ll feel right at home. After exploring the island’s trails, beaches, and local attractions, unwind in the wood-fired hot tub and let the calming rhythm of island life rejuvenate you.
The Wolf Den is nestled on the edge of our shared 4-acre property, accessible via a short walk along a charming woodland trail. The black cedar cabin blends beautifully with the forest, offering a peaceful escape. The living area, with its cedar-lined cathedral ceilings, feels surprisingly spacious despite the cabin’s small footprint. Cozy up on the couch and enjoy views of towering firs, madronas, and big leaf maples. Secluded, yet close to Vashon’s shops and eateries, the cabin offers the perfect balance of peace and convenience.
Amenities:
Kitchennette:
The kitchenette is perfectly appointed for snacking and preparing light meals. Thoughtfully equipped with a mini-fridge, freezer, microwave and toaster. We also provide an electric tea kettle and French press to help you craft the perfect morning brew. If you’re in the mood for outdoor cooking, a BBQ gas grill is located on the side deck.
Welcome Extras:
For coffee and tea enthusiasts, we offer island-roasted coffee, a selection of loose and bagged teas and a variety of locally sourced goodies to welcome you during your stay.
Sleeping Loft:
The standing-height loft gives you the feeling of being up in the trees. A full-sized bed with cozy, high-quality linens ensures a restful night’s sleep. You’ll love drifting off to sleep looking out at the stars through the skylight or listening to the soothing sound of rain on the metal roof. The skylight is intentionally uncovered, allowing the natural rhythm of the day to fill the space. If you're sensitive to morning light, we recommend bringing a sleep mask.
Bathroom:
Indulge in luxurious oversized Turkish cotton towels for a spa-like experience. The bathroom is stocked with high-quality toiletries, including Public Goods shampoo and conditioner, liquid soap, Kiehl’s hand lotion, and a hairdryer for your convenience.

Front Deck:
During the warm months, start your morning out on the front deck with a cup of coffee or tea and that novel you’ve been meaning to finish. You'll be serenaded by melodic birdsong, and if you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of our favorite resident barred owl, Hooty or the many deer that wander the property. It's also an ideal spot for al fresco dining with takeout from one of the island’s many excellent local restaurants.
Hammock:
Relax in the cozy two-person hammock, available during the summer months and tucked away under the trees behind the cabin. It’s a peaceful spot to unwind and connect with nature.
Wood-Fired Soaking Tub:
Exclusively for guests, the eco-friendly hot tub is powered by fallen timber from the property, offering a unique and natural way to unwind. It takes over 90 minutes to heat up and requires some attention to the fire. In the summer, it also serves as a refreshing cold plunge.
*Because wood is a precious resource, we provide enough wood/kindling for 1 use during your stay. Additional wood can be purchased at several stores in town or directly through us.

About the host
Hosted by Dawn Stief

I am a freelance photographer and former Montana native who followed her heart to PNW in the late 90's. I am a salvage junkie (if I can't find it, I'll make it), coffee addict, amateur forager, knitter and sourdough baker. I enjoy spending my free time exploring the great outdoors with my husband, 2 kids and our rescue pup, Lucy.
What makes this property unique
We've been sharing our lovingly hand crafted cabin with guests for the past three years, and they often rave about the peace and tranquility they experience during their stay. Nestled in the forest, the cabin offers a serene retreat while still being just a short drive from Vashon's many amenities, including great restaurants, shopping, beaches, trails, and more.
