About this property

Point Robinson Lighthouse - Keeper's Quarters B

Vashon Park District offers amazing stays in the two renovated Keepers' Quarters at Point Robinson Lighthouse. The two residences share the beach with the lighthouse and several outbuildings. Both are available for vacation rental throughout the year, offering you a wonderful way to enjoy the beach, Puget Sound, and Vashon-Maury Island.

Quarters B is a two-bedroom, one-bath, completely furnished unit with a full kitchen and sitting parlor. This house is restored to capture much of its historical 1919 condition. It can accommodate four to six people - with two bedrooms and one bath. The sunny kitchen in Quarters B evokes a time of homemade biscuits and slow Sunday breakfasts. The sitting room boasts period furnishings and contemporary comfort. This property is perched near the lighthouse on the shore of the East Passage in Puget Sound. It offers a wondrous porch looking out over the Salish Sea, and on a clear day, Mount Rainier (known as təqʷuʔməʔ or Mt. Tahoma to the Coast Salish people).

Quarters B is part of a duplex comprising half of the downstairs and the entire upper floor of the house. Our Caretaker lives in the other half of the duplex, and while the front porch facing the water is a shared space, the house has separate entrances for each residence.

A piece of heaven in the PNW
Low key family time was perfect. Great porch sitting just looking over the sound with lots of marine mammal viewing and boat watching. Yard games and grilling. Town is 20 minutes away with awesome restaurants and great grocery store. Hiking and kayaking easy at hand. Lighthouse. Quarters B are like living museum to 1870’s. Quarters A are bigger with a fabulous picture windows on the bay. Loved every minute.

Lovely stay on the beach
Overall had a great stay at the lighthouse. The home is admittedly old but it carries that charm from the 1850s and has been nicely updated. The location on the beach cannot be beat… quiet, beautiful, and with great views of the landscape and wildlife. The team was very receptive and made the rental process very simple.

Nice way to unplug and relax.
The property was beautiful. It was peaceful. We got to wake up to beautiful views and the sound of the water. We wish there was a stand-up shower as the sit down shower was awkward and not very satisfying.

Delightful Winter Stay
My wife and our friends enjoyed our three day stay in Quarters B. The location is over the top perfect for anytime of year. We enjoyed being here in the quiet of winter and the lovely coziness of this historic home. We had everything we needed to cook meals, sleep well and enjoy each others company. We brought cooking items we needed and were glad as there were no cooking oils and spices other than salt and pepper. We appreciated the bathroom being upstairs near the bedrooms and found the beds very comfortable. We lucked out with a blue sky morning and views of Mt. Tahoma, enjoyed walking the beach and hiking up to see Oscar the Bird King. Being less than 20 minutes to restaurants and other shopping was very convenient. We found many nearby trails to enjoy as well. This home is well loved and we appreciated the old charm with more modern comforts.

Why they chose this property

Point Robinson Park is a 10-acre shoreline park, and, a historical and marine conservancy. It is located on the east shore of Vashon-Maury Island, off Point Robinson Road overlooking the East Passage. The site has provided fog and lighthouse service for vessels since 1885. The lighthouse has been fully automated since 1978. Vashon Park District owns the upland part of the park, and the remainder is on a long-term lease from the U.S. Coast Guard. The property conserves an extensive sandy beach shoreline that wraps around the point, a saltwater marsh, and upland woodlands. Walking trails and a few picnic tables have been developed along the scenic shoreline providing dramatic views of East Passage, Tacoma, Mount Rainier, and the upper wooded slopes. Pt. Robinson Stewards have fully restored the two Keepers' Quarters on the property for use as rentals. All proceeds from the rentals go back into the park's restoration and maintenance.

What makes this property unique

Point Robinson - what a special gift this property is to the people of Vashon. There are not a lot of places in the world where you can witness whales breaching an arm's length away and giant ships steaming by in the night, or watch Great Blue Herons fish in front of a lighthouse. And now, there is a Thomas Dambo troll art installation (Oscar the Bird King) located at Pt. Robinson Park as well, make sure you stop in to visit him while you're staying with us. So, on behalf of our Island and the Vashon Park District, welcome to Point Robinson Lighthouse. You're going to love it!
