About the host

Hosted by Karen Loke

Host profile image
Karen is a retired documentary television producer for the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. She is an outgoing, friendly host who loves to meet people and show off her house. However, if you prefer not to meet her in person, let her know in advance. Karen bought this historic home in 2024 as a vacation home, but spends a lot of time here fixing things up and getting ready for guests. Her primary residence is in Austin, Texas where she has been a host for several years. She rents her home there, too that she has remodeled in 2015 and has lived in since 1992. She also owns a cabin in Leakey, Texas as another rental. When all her homes are rented, she travels the world making friends wherever she goes.

Why they chose this property

Karen loves to snow ski and be in the mountains. After years of staying in time shares, she finally bought a house close enough to all her favorite ski resorts - Copper, Breckenridge, Keyston, Vail and Bever Creek.

What makes this property unique

The big pink house is also known locally as the "fairy house," because an artist lived there previously and painted fairies inside and out for her children's amusement. One of the bedrooms is still painted with Disney characters, and one large mural covers an entire wall in the kitchen.
