About this property

Air Capitol Cottage Leadville -great location-backyard-great for kids & pets

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil mountain getaway... we love our Air Capitol Cottage Leadville at 10,200 feet. Built before 1888, like many houses in Leadville, our cottage's uniquely sloping roof makes it one of kind and we love the cottage-y feel out to the amazing, private backyard. We also love the location, right off Harrison, close to our favorite liquor store, one block to the park, playground, and sledding. 2 blocks to downtown and the mining museum.

Air Capitol Cottage combines our love of the mountains and aviation! We love that the Leadville/Lake County Airport is a lot of pilot's "Everest"! 😉 At 9,934 feet, Lake County is North America's highest public use airport!

Our two bedroom home has one bedroom upfront with new barn door for privacy! Super cute room with closet, extra floor room for space/play and two windows! Then when you walk into the living room, it has lots of natural, a couch and chair, TV area and then blends into the dining room and kitchen. The nicely sized bathroom with shower/tub combo, stackable washer/dryer, storage and more! Finally, back to the primary bedroom with a queen sized bed, two closet and our beloved hobbit sized door out to the backyard!

The fully fenced, terraced backyard features beautiful aspen trees, propane firepit and chairs. It's a great place to spread out and let the kids and/or dogs burn off some energy safely.

Love this little cabin!
We have stayed at this cabin several times now. We enjoy the quirkiness of a cabin that is well over 100 years old. The house was clean and the kitchen and bathroom were well-stocked. When we had a question, the owner responded immediately. The location is great for walking to downtown Leadville, convenient to Ski Cooper, and there is a walking/Nordic skiing path at the end of the street. We'll be staying here again!

We are currently from Wichita KS but we can't wait to officially move back to the mountains! It's our happy place, for sure. So when we can't be there to enjoy Leadville, we are glad that you are.

Why they chose this property

We love being so close to Harrison (main drag), Ice Palace Park, National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum and everything downtown is just a few blocks away! The best liquor store in town being next door doesn't hurt our feelings either. 😅

What makes this property unique

Every home in Leadville is unique! Heck, Leadville is unique which is why we love it. The uniqueness of this the hobbit sized backdoor which opens into a beautiful backyard with firepit.
