About this property
Mad River Ski Chalet
The floor-to-peak windows of this updated mid-century A-Frame look out across the Mad River Valley. It's an easy walk to the historic Waitsfield Common Road, locally known as one of the best walking/biking roads in the Valley, if not all of Vermont.
The Vonn Trapp Farm Store (yes, the hills are alive with the Von Trapps) is a neighbor down the road.
The ski resorts are a 10 to 15 minute drive away. In the warmer months this is a great starting point for hiking, biking, kayaking, and fishing. The surrounding area is rich with wildlife and natural beauty, providing a calm backdrop for outdoor adventures or quiet relaxation. After a day out, unwind in the hot tub and take in the fresh air.
Inside, this updated classic A-Frame is bright and inviting, with an open living area centered on a stone fireplace. It's it a great spot for reading or watching TV. The big windows fill the space with natural light while the spacious deck is perfect for enjoying the view over a morning coffee or a cookout.
The fully equipped kitchen includes stainless steel appliances, a breakfast bar, and a big dining table, ideal for preparing and sharing meals after a day of exploring. There’s a dedicated workspace if you need to attend to remote work during your stay.
The bedrooms are spacious and well-appointed, ensuring everyone has a restful night. Kids and their friends will enjoy the bunkroom, creating their own fun and memories in a comfortable space.
PLEASE NOTE: Great views often come with challenging driveways. In this case, it's not so much the driveway but the road leading to it. During winter and mud season, a 4WD or AWD vehicle with winter tires is the only guaranteed way to reach the property.
The property will be plowed out during storms, but we cannot guarantee a time. Depending on conditions, a front-wheel drive car with winter tires could make it as long as the snow or mud are not too deep, but we strongly advise against front or rear-wheel drive with all-season tires unless you have chains.
IMPORTANT: After you book, Truvi, a guest-verification service, will contact you via email and/or text.
You will be asked to verify your identity and to choose between making a refundable $500 damage deposit or purchasing a non-refundable $500 damage waiver for $35.
With your ID verified and a $500 deposit or waiver secured, the property is covered for up to $1m in damage during your stay. If you are flagged by Truvi, your reservation will be cancelled and you will be credited for any fees collected.
Unfortunately, there are some bad eggs out there and most of our property owners have been burned (in one case by a literal fire) by bad guests. Several owners have told us they would no longer rent or would sell their properties if we did not screen guests.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this process and for helping us make sure great properties like this remain available to rent.
