About the host
Hosted by Scott Johnson
I'm from Chicago but my parents and most of my relatives are from Eau Claire, WI. I grew up visiting my cousins at their lake houses and fell in love with the environment, atmosphere, and energy of being out in the woods and having immediate access to a lake .
Why they chose this property
My wife and I bought the land in 2005 and built the house in 2014. It was finished in 2015. his 1500 sq ft house was built in 2015. This is not a cramped, 3 season cabin that hasn't been updated since the 80's. The pictures say it all and the floor plan is open and great for group activities and interaction. The dining table seats 12 with the added leaves which are conveniently stored under the table. We keep 8 chairs out and there are 4 additional chairs in the first floor bedroom closet.
The deck has a table for four with umbrella, additional seating for 5 more, an end table and a fire pit for small intimate fires.
You can access the lake by taking the stairs from the deck or going out the sliding doors from the walk-out basement. We had the house built 75' from the water - that's as close as you can build to the lake. The 24' pontoon boat is powered by a trolling motor which is perfect for this quiet 53 acre, no wake lake. The boat makes a great swimming platform by taking it to the middle of this very clean lake where it's about 10 feet deep, dropping the anchor, and enjoying a refreshing swim.
The fishing is great too! There are a lot of large mouth bass and bluegill/sunfish as well as crappie. You can catch fish almost anywhere on the lake.
