About the host
Hosted by Ruth and David Owen
Ruth and David now work in International Education. Previously we worked in Tyneside. We bought this cottage to share and have enjoyed steadily been improving it over the past 26 years.
Why they chose this property
Allenmill cottages and Allendale are part of a vibrant, friendly, open community that we are proud to be part of. We enjoy sharing our home with other people who appreciate the community and countryside of Allendale. You'll receive a warm welcome from neighbours and all the folk in the region. In fact, the Sunday Times voted Allendale in the top 3 places to live in the North East.
What makes this property unique
The chance of being able to go for a good walk from the front door makes this a home I want to keep coming back to. Sitting in the Summerhouse overlooking the pond, reading, bird watching, sun or rain watching can be tranquil and uplifting. Playing croquet in the field is great fun.
The cottage is near to the village for supplies and with Hexham 15 minutes away, you have ample shopping.
Lots of history abounds from Romans to lead mining days.
