Family friendly, Sleeping Bear National Park and Historic Fishtown nearby
The Beauvais Cottage has everything for a family to create meaningful summer memories. It is a small, well designed, sturdily built and very well maintained classic summer cottage. It has three bedrooms, one with a queen bed, one with a double bed and one with two twin beds. The kitchen is well equipped with stainless steel appliances (a gas stove). The house has WiFi, dish TV, DVD/BluRay player, and stereo system. A gas furnace heats the cottage on the occasional chilly summer morning. There is a canoe for guest use, a charcoal grill, a fire pit for summer evenings, a dock to sun on and a deck on which to relax. A short walk down Little Traverse Lake Road leads to a foot path that goes back to Lake Michigan and a wide sandy quiet beach! Enjoy the morning on Lake Michigan and return to Little Traverse lake to canoe and sun in the afternoon. Relax as evening approaches around the fire pit. Create summer memories!

We had a lovely stay. This home was perfect for our visit to Sleeping Bear Dunes. The house was well stocked and had everything we needed to prepare meals and enjoy the lake.
The cottage was like stepping back in time, to grandma and grandpas lake house. It had the perfect nostalgic charm we were looking for. Had everything we needed in kitchen. Very well stocked. Plenty of towels, supplies..ect. Would love to come back!
Exactly what we needed for our stay. Views of the Lake were incredible. The house was well stocked and felt like a real lake home. Easy access to all the places we wanted to go. We could not hear any noise but nature and were lucky enough to see plenty of local wildlife. I would definitely try to stay again if we ever return Up North.
Our family had a great time relaxing at this peaceful lake house. The neighborhood is quiet, the lake is beautiful, and the location is so close to beautiful Lake Michigan beaches. We enjoyed day trips to the dunes, Glen Arbor, and Traverse City and then returned to the house to relax and play games.
Very clean, classic lakeside cottage. Not fancy but that's the point. The lake is amazingly clean and beautiful. A canoe is provided and a nice dock and fire pit. The kitchen is well stocked. We didn't cook but you could easily. The beds were a little hard but that's just me. You are kind out in the middle of nowhere but Glen Arbor has restaurants and is about 15 minutes away. A great little lake cottage, quiet and lovely.
The Bauvais Cottage on Little Traverse Lake was very warm and cozy. It was exactly as descibed and very well stocked. Contact with the manager was very easy and info very accurate. We enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely come back.
Wow, this was such a lovely setting for a relaxing couple of days with friends. The cabin was clean and well outfitted. It really felt like a family's treasured home and we could feel the generations before us who had enjoyed it. The lake is beautiful and you are a close drive to great beaches. I would love to return again.
We enjoyed how close it was to most of our favorite places like Sleeping Bear Dunes, Empire, Esch Road Beach, and Leland to name a few. We had a rainy day and because there was cable we watched a football game. Enjoyed sunning on the dock. Had a fire. To top it off we saw a beautiful double rainbow that ended in the lake. So beautiful!
The Beauvais Cottage was the perfect Michigan getaway for my family. The cottage was very clean and well appointed. It had everything we needed to have a comfortable stay. My family and I enjoyed sitting around the fire at night and listening to the sounds of the lake. We even managed to take a spin in the canoe every day of our visit! The location was great as well, very close to Glen Arbor and Sleeping Bear Dunes. I would definitely stay there again!
We spent five days with our family (four adults and a teenager) in early August. This cottage has everything you would need and more - and it's close to towns with interesting restaurants. There is a canoe and a dock and an interesting collection of hummingbirds that are fun to watch come to the feeder. There is a fire pit but you will need your own firewood (available many places in the vicinity). This review is being written during the pandemic so our eating experiences were either outside dining (Little Traverse Inn) or take-out with outdoor dining at a nearby wine bar. We were unlucky with loss of electricity because of a huge storm part way through our stay, but with the lake just a few feet away, we were able to wash the dishes (and ourselves!) easily. The stove uses gas so cooking and making coffee wasn't a problem. The manager was very responsive to our requests and needs, and her help was much appreciated. The cottage has character and there are mementoes of the original owners on the walls. All in all, it was a fine experience and I would recommend this cottage.
The cottage is a classic Northern Michigan cottage with knotty pine paneling. The kitchen is well stocked and everything was in working order. Our weather wasn’t the best unfortunately but there is plenty to do in the area. Several nice hiking trails that lead to Lake Michigan. Best entertainment was the hummingbird feeder right outside the porch window.
The cottage on Little Traverse Lake was perfect for my family and I. The lake is absolutely beautiful and the cottage was well suited to our needs. We did not experience a problem of any kind during our stay. Plenty to do in the area and beautiful beaches on Lake Michigan are close by as well.
A friend and I rented this house for a long weekend in July. We had a wonderful time! The property was clean and stocked with linens, charcoal for grill, etc. The house was always at a comfortable temperature with windows open and the property was very quiet and peaceful. We loved having our morning coffee on the dock behind the house and enjoyed grilling out or going for a socially distanced dinner at Little Traverse Inn or in Glen Arbor in the evenings.
We had trouble finding the walking path to Lake Michigan that was described in the listing, but were able to drive about 7 minutes to Good Harbor Bay Beach, which is not too crowded and has parking. One other suggestion would be to include a courtesy bundle of wood for the fire pit, similar to leaving charcoal for the grill. Thanks for a great stay!
We had everything we needed and more. The pictures didn’t do justice to how beautiful and private this location was. However, it was only a short drive to many great “up north” towns so always plenty to do. House was super clean! We had a great time!
We had a great time at the Beauvais Cottage. It was sparkling clean and very comfortable.
Mary Lou goes above and beyond to keep her renters happy. We will definitely be back!
We really enjoyed our stay! Beds were comfortable. Cabin was perfect size for our family of 5. Was well stocked with paper products. Loved the beautiful view of the lake and had a lot of fun on the canoe! Even had a fireworks show on Friday :). There was no air conditioning and it was a hot weekend, but we were out exploring all day anyway and it cooled off at night. We had a nice breeze from the lake with the windows open and there were fans for us to use, so we were very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again!
My husband and I had a great time here with our two young kids. The cottage was spotless, and while the decor might be dated we found it charming. Appliances were updated, kitchen had everything we needed. Location was great - very easy access to Glen Arbor, Leland, and all that Sleeping Bear Dunes have to offer. Little Traverse Lake is stunning - calm and peaceful. Frankly, we expect swimmer’s itch in Northern MI inland lakes, so we either didn’t swim or followed precautions. Property was very easy to book, and Mary Lou was wonderful. My family has rented through her before and it is always a seamless and very pleasant experience!
