About this property
Stay in the oldest livable structure in the State of Idaho! Swim, relax, enjoy.
Recreate in our historical 1100 SF, “diamond in the rough,” log cabin with all the comforts of home. Our historical, rustic log cabin sets you back in time, but with all the modern amenities. It nests on 13.5 acres, a ¼ mile from majestic Lake Coeur d’Alene and an easy walk to the public dock and beach. Enjoy summertime swimming, fishing, boating, trail hikes, eagle watching, huckleberry picking, hitting the ski slopes in winter, and year-around pleasure and relaxation connecting with family and friends. This gem is hidden in a remote location, but is only a 20-30 minute scenic drive to Coeur d’Alene, 18 miles to historical Harrison, and just a 35 minute drive to slopes and 40 minute jaunt to historical, “Center of the Universe,” Wallace. Silverwood is a quick 45-minute drive and Triple Play is less. If you’re looking for solitude, relaxation on the country porch and evenings gathering around the wood fire pit, this is the ultimate escape! We do require a two-night minimum stay.

About the host

This, "Diamond in the rough," has provided countless adventures for our family and friends. It is a unique mix of the old days coupled with numerous adventures and modern amenities to fit your lifestyle. If water adventure is for you, this is the ticket! Rent boats in Harrison or Coeur d'Alene, go down to the public dock, launch your boat in Carlin Bay and splash the day away. You can fish on the water one day and the next be riding a giant gondola for trails and in the winter skiing, tubing, or snowboarding adventure. Take a drive to historical Wallace and go on a mine tour or soak and play in the fabulous water park at Silver Mountain. Bring your bikes and ride the beautiful Coeur d'Alene Trail from Plummer to Harrison and beyond or rent bikes at the Hiawatha historical trail. Whatever you choose to do, adventure awaits. Just simply joining family and friends around the campfire looking at the stars and then, taking a soak in the spa will make you wish you could stay longer. The large ranch-style porch is wonderful to reminisce and read a book while bird watching and eying hummingbirds feed on basketed flowers. There are SO many activities awaiting for you to build strong family memories. Come and enjoy the good times while you recreate and relax.

What makes this property unique
We absolutely love our cabin in the woods near the lake. Please be aware that due to the cabin being antiquated, the steps to the upper sleeping area are extremely steep. For this reason, we suggest one use caution. Caution should be taken at all times going up and down the steps. This is an old structure, and we highly revere its antique hand-hewn log appeal and hope you treat our cabin with the upmost care.
The cabin is considered a, “house of healing.” Due to the homestead, natural log building materials used, it offers excellent grounding abilities for health and rejuvenation.
You are out in the remote wilderness. Please be aware that we have lots of wildlife (i.e. bears, cougar, deer, rodents, bugs, etc.). DO NOT leave perishables out. Due to the high iron content in the water, fixtures (i.e. toilet, sinks, shower) may take on an orange or rust color stain. Our water is tested and contains iron, magnesium and manganese for healthy drinking. Our cleaning policy prior to your stay is that all areas and items are sanitized, and the spa is cleaned, PH balanced and chlorinated prior to each rental.
Because the cabin is in a remote location, please stock up on your food and beverages prior. We do stock a small dry pantry. In winter-time weather, it is recommended that you drive a 4WD or AWD vehicle. If it snows more than 6 inches the host will arrange for it to be plowed.
Coming soon, we hope to provide separate packages such as water recreation, skiing/snowboarding, hunting, and trail exploration. Feel free to share your interests and we'll take that into account. We also plan to build a tree house in the future for family fun.
Thank you for staying in our historical cabin! We hope you enjoy your stay. Please come again.
