Great For Time Alone! Waterfront Cabin - Well Behaved Dogs Welcome. Go Lakeside!
Are you the type of person that is more comfortable surrounded by the beauty of nature, rather than the hustle of the big city? Does your heart feel free when the sounds you hear are the chorus of birds, rather than the honking of car horns? Does your 'furry' family member accompany you on some of your greatest adventures? If your answered 'yes' to any of these questions, than our cabin may be the perfect place for you, and your family.
***PLEASE NOTE*** Our cabin is available to rent in 6 night blocks only. Check in is on Sunday - Check out is the following Saturday. This allows us time to service and clean the property between guests, for their comfort and enjoyment. Thanks for understanding!
Rented for six night blocks, on a seasonal basis from mid May thru October, our cabin is located on a quiet 76-acre pond in Newark, VT, in the heart of the northeast Kingdom. We are located on a mountain pond with woodlands for miles! The back side of the pond is in a land trust, so your waterfront views are flanked by majestic Green Mountains as your backdrop - not the neighbors across the way! Privacy, and nature reign here! Excellent fishing for cold water species on site (Lake Trout, Brown trout, etc), and if our waters do not yield great returns, we are a 5 min. drive from 5 other major lakes in the area. Property is available to rent seasonally by the week only. Check in time is Sunday, check out is Saturday. Additional days/nights may be available - please inquire. Discounts available for stays of two weeks or more. Please specify dates of interest in inquiry. Please read on for more details!
Our cabin is furnished with 2 Queen beds, and one twin bed. It offers rustic furnishings, linens, cookware, and electric utilities, including TV, DVD player & microwave. Please note - if you are looking for state of the art amenities, or 4 star luxury, than this is not the cabin for you. The emphasis here is on basic comfort, and the focus of beauty is on the surroundings around you! We have easy town road access. Please note - there is no internet service, and cell phone service may be spotty. The emphasis here is nature - not technology! The pond offers excellent trout fishing, loon watching and birding. There is an aluminum row boat furnished, and a beautiful 24' x 8' deck with picnic table off the cabin. Eat outdoors on on our deck overlooking the water, and enjoy the views! We also have another waterfront deck, with an attached 30' dock, just steps away. The cabin is a quiet place for time alone - perfect for the nature lover - great for laid back, old fashioned family vacations, honeymoons, or just relaxing. If you are an active outdoorsman, the hiking, biking, fishing and boating are wonderful! We are minutes away from Kingdom Trails, and a great place to stay while you explore the Kingdom, and everything that it has to offer.
We are dog friendly - your well behaved dogs are welcome for a non-refundable pet fee of $150.00 for your first dog, and a $50.00 fee for a second dog. There is a maximum of two pets allowed at any given time. Please note pet fees are not included in rental rate, and would be additional. My husband and I just spent a week here, and we loved it. It's in a great location -- the mountain views are gorgeous! The cabin is very clean and well-equipped. The owners put in new mattresses just before our visit, and I slept better than I had in a long time! We loved taking the rowboat out onto the pond, and my husband went fishing nearly every day. If you're looking for a quiet, out-of-the-way place to spend a relaxing vacation, look no further!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! We are truly pleased that you enjoyed your stay, and look forward to being your "go-to" vacation option the next time that your travels take you to Northern Vermont. Happy travels, and hope to see you again soon!
This property is the perfect place to getaway from it all. Such a peaceful location, only saw a few other kayakers on the water each day. Didn’t catch any keepers, but the fish were plentiful and kept us busy. Would stay here again, no question!

So glad you enjoyed your stay! Thanks for the feedback and THANK YOU for leaving the property in excellent condition when you departed! 5 Stars to you as a traveler - you and your family are A+++ guests - would be happy to reccommend you as a guest to any VRBO host. Thank you for the kind note, and clean condition that you left the cabin in upon departure. Folks like you are the gold standard when it comes to finding the perfect renters - thanks again!!! Happy summer!
We loved staying at the cabin. Center Pond is a gem, and my whole family enjoyed the swimming (which was quite warm for Vermont!), fishing (which was great straight off the cabin's dock), and kayaking. There were nice touches too, like S'mores fixings and dog treats at check in. A rustic but very comfortable place, and a terrific vacation!

Thanks so much for the kind words Matt! We are so glad you and your family enjoyed our little piece of heaven in Vermont's beautiful Northeast Kingdom. We were delighted to host you, and would welcome you back anytime! Happy travels!
was lovely. We had everything we needed to make the most of our week at the cabin! We loved being right on the water for fishing and swimming and star gazing! We appreciated the games inside for rainy day activities, and the kitchen was well equipped for baking and cooking. We hope to come back next year!

Thank you Katie! We are so happy you enjoyed our little piece of paradise in the NEK. We would love to host you and your family again in the future. Thanks for the review, and for choosing us as your vacation destination!
Older home built cottage...nothing fancy but right on quiet lake. Worth repeating it was the cleanest rental I've had in years of renting. It could use some updating but a great place to stay for a week and get away.
The location is great, but we found the owner's description of their place inaccurate. We were met by screams of excitement from the lake and were very surprised to find that we do have neighbors on both sides of the property. They are lovely people, and weekdays were much more calmer than the weekend. The lake is great for swimming and fishing. The cabin is comfortable, but kitchen has only something that you might need during your stay. For example: there were only two tablespoons, and we are a family of four people, so two of us needed to eat soup with teaspoons.
Very rustic setting. Beautiful scenery. Plenty to explore in Vermont’s northeast kingdom. I highly recommend you check this one out.

Unwind!
If you are looking to get away from it all without dealing with crowds of people. If you still long for the amenities you may have at home but would like to see and hear the sounds of loons and breathe in some good clean air....this is the site for you. We could fish all day and have a fire in the fire pit down by the water and relax but...........downtown was within a half hour away so if you need anything or perhaps you want to visit a museum or restaurant. The cabin was clean and has heat if the night should get chilly. We had a chance to meet the owner who shared his story of building this wonderful chalet and property. The land across the water is in a land trust which will provide years of an undeveloped property which will keep it "wild" for others to enjoy. Being greeted with S'Mores fixings was also a nice touch. Thanks again for the wonderful stay.

Cute Dog-Friendly Cabin - Beautiful Water Views!
My husband and I vacationed at the Files' cabin in July, and brought with us our golden retriever Ivy. We could not have been happier - swimming right off the dock, a great private yard - the owners even provided poop scoop bags for our furry family member! As pet lovers, it was important for us to to be able to travel with our dog. This quaint cabin made the grade - hardwood laminate floors made clean up a breeze inside, (the owners do ask that the pups not be allowed on the furniture, so bring a dog bed if you have one!) and they even provide a puppy gate, so our pooch could not leave the outdoor deck unattended. It was all we could do to keep her out of the water, truth be told, we played in it ALMOST as much as she did! Almost, but not quite! The neighbors were super friendly - only saw them on the weekend, and the whole place had a private, remote feel. Only the occasional car to remind us that we were, in fact, in a small Vermont town, and not, as it felt, in the middle of our own private paradise. We loved every second of our vacation - we had one rainy day, and headed into nearby St. Johnsbury, VT to check out the Fairbanks Museum. It made for a great day trip, and we would recommend it! Can't wait to return - lakeside living is the only way to go!

Beautiful, serene, breathtaking!
I cannot wait to return! This is just the kind of escape I was looking for! Very rustic, very inviting. We found the whole experience charming from start to finish ~ with enough amenities so that you are comfortable, but not overwhelming. I even caught some fish! To look across the water and see undeveloped nature is simply fantastic.

fantastic!
We could not have asked for a nicer place to spend our vacation. It was peaceful and serene and a perfect place to relax and enjoy the great outdoors. The cottage itself was nicely kept and the necessary amenities were all there. We would recommend this cabin to anyone.

Incredible Waterfront Views! Peaceful and relaxing
If you are looking for a chance to get away, and relax in northern VT, then look no further! My wife and I traveled to the cabin the second week of September. Not only were we pleasantly surprised by the inside of the cabin (cozy, but well equipped with everything we needed for our stay) --but ---those VIEWS! To die for! The cabin has a deck that looks out over the water, and you are steps away from a dock, and a private area for fishing, swimming, or what ever you like. There is even a lakeside fire pit, where we spent most of our nights hanging out, listening to the quiet of nature, and star gazing. In the day, the views were spectacular, as the foliage was just starting to pop. This place is really special - other camps on lakes are congested, and you are very close to your neighbors. Here, it was like we had the entire lake to ourselves. Wife spent a lot of time catching up on her reading, and I fished, kayaked, and spent endless hours playing fetch with our dog. We left at the end of our stay relaxed, and sad to go. The inside of the camp looked newly redone, and beds were comfy. Looked like a good supply of board games, and Satellite TV if the weather was bad, but honestly we spent most of our days outside, so we did not use those things. Super close to Kingdom Trails, and many other lakes and ponds. Great sightseeing opportunities - a perfect place to stay for those looking for something other than the "canned resort" experience.

One of the most beautiful spots in the NE Kingdom
If you are looking for a quiet beautiful space, this is it. My family and I spent a week at this dog friendly waterfront camp. The natural beauty of the area is striking and the quietness of it all will bring us back in years to come. We spent many evenings star gazing on the deck, I cant tell you how many shooting stars we saw. Our days were spent floating on and playing in the clear, cool waters of the pond. If you are looking for a rustic cabin set on a beautiful piece of Vermont, this is the place.

Peaceful, gorgeous scenery and great fishing!
This little cabin was all we had hoped for. It was very peaceful and quiet with gorgeous views and great fishing right off the dock. The camp was perfect with it's rustic charm and all the needed amenities. The front deck was great for enjoying morning coffee from and watch the fish jump and the loons swim. We are planning to make this an annual vacation.
