Mill Valley was recently rated the fourth best town in the entire country by the Smithsonian Magazine. This house is just ten minutes from San Francisco, twenty minutes from Muir Woods Redwood Forest, a half hour to the ocean, and less than an hour from the wineries of the Napa Valley. Mill Valley is ideally located for anyone visiting the Bay Area. Nestled in an area of hills, beautiful redwood trees, and open space, the intentionally small community is home to many world renowned figures in the arts, sciences, business, and politics. Have a cup of coffee at the downtown plaza and you may find yourself sitting next to Carlos Santana, Sammy Hagar, Dave Eggers, Isabel Allende, Barbara Boxer, or Sean Penn.
Everything you need is within walking distance. A ten minute walk takes you to Whole Foods, the Post Office, drug stores, and a number of banks and restaurants. A twenty minute walk takes you to a delightful shopping center with many favorites as well as specialty stores of all kinds. Downtown Mill Valley, with its wonderful ambiance, library, and retail shopping area (no chain stores allowed), is about 1 1/4 miles away, a leisurely 30 minute walk.
Just a block away from the house is Horse Hill, a 70 acre open space preserve where the public is welcome to walk or hike, with numerous paths up and around the hill that take you to wonderful vistas, and yes, there are horses. The Alto Bowl Open Space Preserve, one of the largest in the area, is less than 1/10th of a mile away, and takes just 2-3 minutes to walk to. It has quite a few hiking trails, most pretty easy, as well as fire roads. You can also walk to Corte Madera by following the trails through the open space and heading north. The views are spectacular.
Golden Gate Transit bus service is just a three minute walk away, servicing Marin County, San Francisco, Sonoma County, and the East Bay. They can also take you to the ferries that sail to San Francisco, Angel Island, or Alcatraz.
There is no smoking in or around the house. This is a very quiet residential area and we expect guests to respect the neighbors while you are visiting.
If the unit smells of smoke, there will be an additional cleaning fee.
Mail and packages cannot be delivered to the apartment during your stay. If you need something delivered to you, there are mail centers in the area that can receive and hold packages for you. We are not responsible for any packages delivered, before, during or after your stay.
