The location is great for either a trip to wine county or either side of the bay. The place was clean, comfy, and had a beautiful view. It was a great experience and I would recommend the rental to anyone looking to stay near San Rafael.
This was the perfect space to stay for my trip and had incredible views! The space was clean and cozy. I felt super safe at the property and location as a solo traveler.
The apartment was a perfect size for us. The beds were very comfortable and the garden/views were beautiful. It's right off the 101, so easy to access. Walkablity is 5/10, but very easy drive to coffee and restaurants.
The property was clean, comfortable and the perfect home base for traveling to Muir Woods, Point Reyes, Tiburon and Napa. We enjoyed our stay and will book the property again when in the area.
The apartment is great! Clean, updated, and well appointed. They do however have a no shoes in the house rule that makes sense, but if you are diabetic or have foot issues you may want to consider.
Very clean. Having Coffee available was wonderful. Comfortable beds. Great views. There are a lot of stairs, so be aware. Leave outside lights on to illuminate stairs after dark.
SO clean and cozy. I wish i stayed longer. My 5 year old loved the top bunk and the “secret closet” in the room. Shower was amazing. Balcony a +++++.

There was a great view of San Francisco Bay from the apartment upstairs. We really enjoyed the shower, it had a really powerful shower head. There was a limited about kitchen utensils. The owners were very accommodating because we had car issues. We found the yard to be cluttered.
Communication was clear, check-in and check-out were both smooth and simple, and parking was easy. The mansion is just off of a winding narrow road. There is a nearby market place with a grocery store, restaurants, and shopping. It is very close to the 101 freeway. The stairs up to the apartment are steep and you will want to have a light on to navigate the steps as well as the entry hallway to the front door. The hallway to the entry door is very dark if you do not have a light on. There is a reminder to remove shoes in the apartment. We were staying in the area for a family wedding, so we did not spend too much time in the apartment aside from sleeping. The beds were very comfortable and the interior of the apartment was clean and enjoyable for our needs. The kitchen was spacious for the apartment size and had all amenities that we needed. The views were beautiful from the large windows. We opened some of the windows at night and had fans on, as the air got a bit warm and we prefer it a little chillier at night. The bathroom has a nice bidet toilet and a shower with powerful water pressure. It would be helpful to have some kind of ledge in the bathroom (other than the back of the toilet) on which to place hot hair tools, such as a curling iron. The sun room indeed had a sauna (we did not use it) and also seemed to be a storage area. This was a cozy location and we would stay here again if in the area.
Very much enjoyed my stay here. Everything was clean, lots of amenities etc. Easy to find and access location wise. David was so helpful when I had a question for him, responding immediately and well.
It’s a really interesting building and has a lot of character. Some quirkiness too.
Lovely and conveniently located place. Only slight complaint is that it really isn't in any way a two bedroom despite what the listing said. Otherwise great.
The family was so nice and accommodating…communication was excellent. Shower pressure was the best. Beautiful sunrise. Being upstairs it was very hot, with only a few windows that could open, but David added a portable AC which made a world of difference! Pics don’t show it, but in addition to the bed in the bedroom, there was a double bed with twin bunk in the living room which was a nice addition. Beds could use fitted sheets versus just a flat sheet as the keep getting “untucked” and bunched up. Lots of steep stairs, so if you or fur baby have mobility issues beware. Location was central to everything we needed - close enough to ride bikes (a couple blocks - down the steep hill narrow street) to the bike path that connects all over the place…best to ride through the Cal Park tunnel over to Larkspur Landing or path by Bon Air shopping center or The Village shopping center on the Bay Trail. The infrared sauna is a bonus! Not a fancy place - but low-key and comfortable. We’d stay here again.
Visited for a week of working remote and going on hikes nearby. Location is great, view from window is nice, plenty of restaurant and brewery options nearby and hiking spots within a short drive. The unit was oversold as listed. Not really comfortable for more than a couple sleeping in the same bed (no real 2nd bed, blow up mattress, which you have to read about in an image caption on listing to know). Photos don’t represent the unit, deck was completely different with no fancy lay out chairs or wood floor. Living room was quite different from photos as well. Some photos appear to be for a different unit. Overall, the unit was clean but could really use some care by the owner, things seem to be in disrepair (lots of little things that add up). Also, wifi is coming from sun room, and really only works if you are sitting in kitchen bar stool area. Host did say he is looking to improve this, but it did make it tricky for my friend and I, who were both on zoom calls all day. My friend ended up working from the sun room outside the unit, which was not an optimal solution. While this unit could fit 4 people, that’s only with an extra blowup mattress they will set up for you, not 2 real beds (luckily the blow up mattress was fairly comfortable for a blow up mattress). In reality, it’s a small 1br so if you are staying with a group, the folks sleeping in living room won’t have privacy. Unit has nice view, beautiful tree out front as well but it’s close to major roads and you’ll likely need to keep windows open for ventilation at night. I brought earplugs and had no trouble sleeping, but good to call this out if traffic noise bothers you. Overall, this place served its purpose, the host was helpful, but I felt like I was oversold based on the listing, and won’t be returning.
Super emplacement, pres de tout, avec tous les équipements.tout y est pour un séjour exceptionnel. Le propriétaire a tout prevu pour qu’on s’y sente comme a la maison. On y retournera certainement

Great picture window!
While we were relatively comfortable in the apartment, I was disappointed in a number of things. First, to get to the apartment, there is a long, narrow flight of stairs, and another flight of stairs from the ill-named "sun room" to the top floor. Once inside, the starkness surprised me. The furnishings were not what I've come to expect in a VRBO property ... mismatched, and barely comfortable. There were no "welcome" instructions to help with working the TV and the fridge handle was dirty. On the pro side, the enormous picture window, overlooking the bay was uplifting (once we trained our eyes to look past the warehouse district stretched out below us.) The bathroom was very nice with a good, strong shower, and the bed was comfy enough. Nothing luxurious, though. We were especially disappointed that the balcony wasn't suitable for relaxing on some nice chairs with a glass of wine. All that said, if you aren't looking for luxury, or aesthetic charm, this apartment is fine ... spacious with good temperature control.
My wife Trang and I live in this Edwardian mansion. We raise chickens in our backyard.
