About this property
Arthur House | University of Montana, River & DT
Welcome to the Arthur House. Ideally situated directly across the street from the University of MT, this remodeled 1920s bungalow offers the perfect blend of historic charm and modern amenities. You'll be only a few minutes walk from downtown Missoula and the Hip Strip, Mount Sentinel hiking trails, the Clark Fork River, and Missoula's best - art galleries, local breweries/distilleries/bars, restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, fitness studios, music venues and more.
I’m happy to interact with guests as much or as little as they like. My top priorities are guest privacy and space to make their vacation their own. If I can help in any way to enrich your experience, I’m delighted to do so. As a local Missoulian, I love sharing my hometown with visitors, so please do not hesitate to utilize me!
The University neighborhood is one of Missoula's oldest, filled with charming historic homes, city parks, coffee shops and cafes. Its proximity to Mount Sentinel, the Clark Fork River, and downtown Missoula make it the ideal location for visitors to Missoula. Walk a few blocks East to Mount Sentinel and head up the M trail to get a birds eye view of our beautiful city from the huge white M - visible from miles away. If your more ambitious, continue up and summit Mount Sentinel for a truly spectacular view of the Missoula Valley. Head a few blocks North to the Clark fork River and meander along its banks on the Kim Williams Trail. In addition to watching river surfers and kayakers play on Brennen's wave at Caras Park, you'll likely encounter plenty of people floating down the river on tubes. It's a great way to cool off in the heat of the day and it's also really fun - you should try it! There are also great neighborhood parks such as Bonner Park several blocks to the South which features a great playground, a small basketball court, tennis courts, a great playground and "splash deck" were kids and adults alike can play in the water features and cool off. There's also a small outdoor amphitheater were local neighborhood performances take place. For good coffee and café food, try the Liquid Planet Grill just 4 blocks south on Arthur, or the newly renamed Nonna's Neighborhood Eatery just a few blocks farther on Helen Ave. 5 blocks to the W is the Hip Strip which boasts a number of great cafés and restaurants, two breweries, coffee shops and bakeries, bike and skateboard shops, record stores, and more as well as Missoula's famous Big Dipper Ice Cream. It's a great place to get acquainted with, and is the gateway to downtown Missoula.
From The Hip Strip, you can walk North over the Higgins St. bridge and into the heart of downtown Missoula which is nearly always vibrant and bustling with activity. On almost every day of the week you'll find plenty of things to explore including farmers markets, craft fairs, food vendors, music festivals, art galleries (check out First Friday if you happen to be here on the first Friday of any summer month), restaurants, boutique shopping, local breweries and distilleries, and a thriving nightlife. On the North bank of the Clark Fork River is Caras Park which hosts many activities throughout the week. During "Out to lunch" on Wednesdays or "Downtown TonNight - Out to Dinner in Caras Park" on Thursday evenings, you can choose from dozens of local food vendors while listening to live music. On Saturday mornings Missoula's thriving farmers and craft markets will keep you entertained for hours. Also in Caras Park is Brennan's wave, a river surfing and kayaking feature where you'll find locals and adventure seekers from all over surfing the "wave", and you can also take your young one's on a ride on the famous Carousel for Missoula. Overlooking it all is the historic Wilma building which houses a superb restaurant and is also an amazing venue for seeing popular touring music acts. And thats just the beginning of downtown....
Guests have access to the entire house. The porch, front, and side yard are also available for relaxing and lounging.
