Beautifully Renovated Traditional Stone House in Vori, South Crete, Greece.

The Stone "House Potami" is over 100 years old traditional Cretan house, that was completely restored in 2008 and adjusted to serve as a holiday home. The sensitive restoration kept the original authentic spirit of this beautiful stone house.
During the winter of 2017 it undergone an extensive renovation and was upgraded to a "Boutique" level and style accommodation.
On the ground floor there is a cozy patio, that leads to a spacious living room with attached kitchen and bathroom. On the first floor is a fully equipped bedroom, attached to a large sunny veranda with great views of the village and the impressive Psiloritis mountains.
There are an outside steps and a door, that leads directly into the upper level and could serve as an alternative exit/entrance, if needed.
In addition to the normal equipment, there are a washing machine, dish washer, large fridge-freezer, free WiFi, smart TV with multi channel satellite and Netflix connections and also a Bluetooth audio device.

The house is situated in a quiet neighborhood, just a minute walk from the charismatic main square of the village with cafes and shops.
Vori is a lively and authentic Cretan village, situated in the Messara Valley. It has several traditional cafes (Kafeneio), an excellent taverna, bakery, pharmacy, mini market and some other shops.
It also houses a very good and quite famous Ethnographic Museum.
From Vori one can easily reach the beautiful sandy beaches of Kalamaki, Kommos, Agio Farago and the famous beach villages of Matala, Agia Galini, Lendas and Kokkinos Pyrgos.
The important archaeological sites of Phaistos, Agia Triada and Gortyn are just nearby.
As the village is located at the foot of the Psiloritis range, it is a good starting point for hiking, trekking, biking and mountaineering.

Loved our stay

We found this to be a wonderful rental and we would stay there again happily. It felt like home and is tastefully decorated. The setting is quiet and ideally located for exploring the village on foot and for driving to beaches and historical attractions in the area as well as larger neighboring towns. We found the people in the village to be friendly every thing we needed nearby. We could tell that this is a well loved house, more than that, a home, and it felt like home to us. village life close to the beach

The style and the equipment of the house corresponded exactly to our standard. The owner Mark, through internet, is very attentive to his guests, and on the place, Nadine is present and ready to answer all the questions. The house is at the border of the village, surrounded with orchards. Next door, there is an humble and ancient chapell. In the village. you find a impressive museum of popular traditions, a minimarket, an excellent bakery, and coffeeshops with terraces. A truck with fresh fishes to buy came on the street in a morning. What a shame to not be able to have conversations with the inhabitants in Greek.

Wir waren knappe zwei Wochen in dem Haus und haben es sehr genossen. In dem Haus findet man alles, was man braucht. Es ist alles liebevoll und sinnvoll eingerichtet. Das Haus befindet sich in einem kleinen Dorf, nicht weit vom Meer entfernt. Nur ein paar Meter weiter gibt es eine Taverne und zwei Cafés. Alle Menschen sind sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Wir haben unsere Zeit sehr genossen. Vielen Dank!

Ein wunderschönes altes Steinhaus in einem kleinen griechischen Ort. Wir haben uns dortsehr wohl gefühlt. Es hat uns an nichts gefehlt.Wer die Natur liebt dem kann ich diese Unterkunft nur empfehlen. Ruhe, wenig Touristen und nette Einwohner. Festos ist gleich um die Ecke.

Tout d’abord parlons de l’hébergement, pitoresques, propre, très bien équipé. Très bel accueil par Nadine et notre hôte Mark. Mark a préparé une série de recommandations pour visiter les alentours: plages, resto,… Emplacement dans un beau village avec une taverna où on mangeait très bon et personnel des plus accueillant! La dame du mini market aussi des plus accueillante ! bon et personnel

Comfortabel in Vori

Potami is een prachtig oud huis in een sfeervol klein grieks dorp. Het is volledig ingericht. Echt alles is aanwezig. We hebben een fijne week gehad. Vanuit Vori zijn zowel Mires als Tymbaki dichtbij, net zoals Kalamaki en Komos strand.

Wir waren total überrascht

Wir haben schon oft in Griechenland eine Ferienwohnung gehabt. Aber noch keine ,so wie diese ,in der alles vorhanden war. Von Lebensmitteln, Gebäck , Honig ,usw..Ich kann gar nicht alles aufzählen. Zusätzlich wurden wir noch von der lieben Nachbarin Maria mit Obst und Gemüse aus ihrem Garten versorgt. Es fehlte wirklich an nichts. Die Wohnung ist sehr sauber und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Ganz ruhig gelegen in einer Seitenstraße. Man konnte auf der der schönen Dachterrasse oder in der Patio frühstücken. Bäcker und gute Tavernen sind fussläufig in wenigen Metern zu erreichen. Wir möchten auf jeden Fall dort noch mal einen Urlaub verbringen. Vielen Dank an Mark und Nadine.

Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen!

Ein schönes Haus in schöner Lage: zentral und gleichzeitig ruhig. Alles wie angegeben, darüber hinaus ein sehr freundlicher und persönlicher Kontakt zum Vermieter. Vori selbst ist klein und hat aufgeschlossene Menschen. Man kommt leicht ins Gespräch. Die Taverne Alekos empfehlen wir sehr. Die Kirchen sind offen, das ethnologische Museum ist bekannt für seine Ausstellung über kretische Alltagskultur. Strände sind schön und mit dem Auto gut zu erreichen und die Ausgrabungen in Agios Triada und Phaistos (minoische Siedlungen) den Besuch wert.

Schön renoviertes Haus in mittelprächtiger Lage

Das Haus ist sehr schön renoviert und hervorragend ausgestattet. Besonders in der Küche mangelt es an nichts und es gibt sogar Olivenöl, Raki und ( neu entdeckt) sehr leckeren Kretischen Bergtee. Daneben fanden wir allerlei weitere Gewürze und Zutaten. Das Bad ist - der alten Bausubstanz geschuldet- etwas winkelig aber sonst ok. Das Master- Bett ist sehr gut und das Bett für unseren Junior war auch ok. Die Lage von Vori ist ideal, um den Süden sowie Städte wie Iraklion ( 1h) und Rethimno (1 h 30) zu erkunden. Leider ist die Infrastruktur im Ort etwas basic. Es gibt eine recht gute Taverne um die Ecke (und ein paar mehr etwas weiter zu laufen) und einen Tante-Emma- Laden. Die Lage des Hauses ist am Ortsrand und die unmittelbare Umgebung ist etwas “abgerockt” - inklusive Autowrack vis a vis. Dafür gibt es von uns einen Stern Abzug. Trotzdem haben wir den Aufenthalt sehr genossen und können das Haus alles in allem empfehlen.

Wünderschönes Häuschen, gut ausgestattet

Das Häuschen war genau wie beschrieben. Ausgestattet mit allem, was man braucht. Die beiden Terrassen sind wunderbar, um darauf zu frühstücken oder auch Sonnenunter-/aufgänge zu betrachten. Die Lage im Dorf ist sehr angenehm, Bäckerei, Taverne, Cafe, alles in der Nähe. Wir haben uns wohlgefühlt.

Perfekte Lage und Ausstattung

Das ruhig gelegene FH ist mit allem, was man benötigt sehr gut ausgestattet. WLAN, Internetradio, SatTV funktionieren hervorragend. Es gibt schöne Sonnen- und Schattenplätze auf den Terrassen. In dem netten Ort findet man fußläufig Bäcker, Lebensmittel, 2 Restaurants und Kaffees. Auch die Strände (z.B.Kalamaki), Phaistos, Gortyna, Matala sind ganz in der Nähe. Check-in und Betreuung vor Ort waren ebenso perfekt. Efcharisto poli Mark und Nadine!

Authentiek en compleet vakantiehuis

Een hele fijn en met aandacht ingerichte vakantiewoning. Zeer compleet en comfortabel met fijne terrassen. Rustig gelegen in een heel leuk klein (niet zo toeristisch) dorpje, met wel een bakker, restaurants en een kleine supermarkt. Een echte aanrader, we komen graag nog eens terug.

Comme à la maison

Maison très agréable à vivre dans un vieux village avec tout le nécessaire, une super boulangerie, place de village et tavernes, pharmacie et petits commerces. Proche de MATALA, de sites de visite et des plages. Dans la maison, rien ne manque, elle est très agréable à vivre et on s y sent très très bien!! On recommande ++

My name is Mark. My wife Sonia and myself, we purchased this beautiful stone house in late 2016. During the winter of 2017, it was extensively renovated to adjust our living standards and taste, while at the same time, we cared to maintain it's traditional Cretan character and feel.
The house is very cozy, comfortable and fully equipped.
We try to do everything to help our guests "feel at home while they are away" and offer them a pleasant accommodation for their holiday on Crete!
