This charming one bedroom space is on the lower level of a historic duplex, built in 1895 as a single-family home, converted to a duplex in the 1950s, and fully renovated by us in 2023. It offers 819 square feet, with a living room, dining room, bedroom, full kitchen, and laundry room where you can store bikes or other gear. There is ample closet/dresser space in the bedroom.
This space is best for for one to four people who want to have direct access to downtown, while relaxing and/or working remotely. We welcome families with school-age children. The building is on a residential street immediately immediately adjacent to downtown. The street is usually quiet, though you may hear some city noises from the larger streets nearby.
Other guests may occupy the unit upstairs, and you may hear them walking around their space from time to time.
Other details about the space:
-There are security cameras outside over the front door, over the side door,
and over the parking lot. The interior is not visible on any of the security cameras.
-The WiFi is typically fast and coverage is strong throughout the space. The desk is fairly large and could accommodate an external monitor if you travel with one. There's a great sounding Bluetooth speaker on the desk and a vintage-looking AM/FM radio in the dining room with audio cables for your phone or computer.
-The 4K Roku TV is set up with HBO Max and Netflix accounts. You can sign into your own accounts for any other streaming services.
-The laundry room has a full size stacker washer/dry and we supply detergent pods and dryer sheets.
-All windows have blinds for privacy.
-There is an AC/heat unit with a remote control, and forced air heaters in the bedroom and kitchen. Ceiling fans in the bedroom and kitchen help to distribute the warm or cool air.
-The kitchen has a full size range, microwave, and toaster, plus pots, pans, utensils, and the basics needed for cooking.
-There is a drip coffee maker, French press, and a starter supply of drip coffee.
-Extra pillows, blankets, and towels are provided.
-The unit is licensed as a short term rental with the City of Bellingham, permit number USE2023-0014.
Guests have exclusive access to the entire space. The parking lot and yard are shared.
We live nearby and we are happy to help out with any questions you have about the unit, or with tips about where to go and what to do in Bellingham.
Downtown Bellingham is lively and fun, with great restaurants, entertainment venues, and culture. You'll be a 1 minute walk to Aslan Brewing Company and a 5-10 minute walk to the Farmer's Market, Wild Buffalo, Mount Baker Theater, Food Co Op grocery store, Rite Aid pharmacy, bowling alley, rock climbing gym, yoga studios, museums, and everything else downtown has to offer.
The apartment is a 5 Minute drive to WWU.
In downtown Bellingham you also may come across people experiencing homelessness, graffiti, and traffic noise.
There is one clearly marked private parking spot that fits one standard size car. From the private parking spot to the side door of the unit is a ~25ft walk on a gravel/cement path, then up three steps through the side door. The front door faces the sidewalk and has three steps. There is often street parking available. The building is on the edge of downtown and is an easy walk to breweries, coffee, groceries, and entertainment venues. If you prefer to drive, there is typically parking close to downtown restaurants, businesses, and attractions.
The building has settled with age, and you may notice that some of floors are sloped.
Stays longer than 28 days require signing a rental agreement.
