About this property

LOCATION, PRIVACY, POOL

Located 15 minutes from downtown Chattanooga on four acres with pool (open 5/15-10/1) on North Chickamauga Creek. We are across the creek from The Greeway Farm wihch is a 180 acre city park on North Chickamauga Creek. The park has 6 miles of walking, running, hiking and biking trails. There are three canoe access points. We are close to restaurants, shopping, canoeing, fishing, and downtown Chattanooga activities.There are golf courses in the area. You are welcome to use the golf clubs in our garage.
House is well equipped. Master BR has king bed, guest have queen in one and full in another. Master has bath with 2 vanities, shower. Jack & Jill bath for guest rooms has Tub/shower combo. The large multipurpose room (20x40) has 2 twin daybeds with trundles.There is bath with shower off multipurpose room. There are flat screen TVs in all bedrooms, one in the den, & one in multipurpose room. Lots of games, books, & some DVDs. WiFi is provided. Large laundry room with new washer/dryer. Pool is 18x36.(pool is closed Oct 1-may 15). Two tables with umbrellas, charcoal grill, lounge chairs plus other outdoor furniture There is a half bath off screen porch by the pool. Beach towels provided. Basketball goal on driveway. You can walk down by the barn to Chickamauga creek. You can bring your gear to fish or put in your own canoe or kayak. There is room to park a 25 foot boat in driveway if you want to enjoy Lake Chickamauga or enter one of the many fishing competitions. There is a small deck overlooking creek. All you need to bring are your clothes & toiletries. We hope you respect and treat our home as your own. Remember no smoking & no pets. We ask that you not let children in the garage. There are pool chemicals in the garage.

Relaxing on Hamill Rd

We were in town for work. What really made the stay nice was being able to relax on the patio and cool off in the pool.

Excellent and well appointed home!

We rented Shirley's home for the week before our daughter's wedding in Chattanooga. We found the home clean, well appointed, and enjoyed easy communication with the owner. Highly recommend!

Great place for bass boats

We really enjoyed our stay there. Shirley was an awesome host and answered all our questions in a timely matter before booking our stay. The house and sleeping arrangements was just what we needed for 6 guys and you could hold 7 easily. The big yard and driveway was perfect to hold 3 bass rigs in the driveway in front of the 3 car garage doors. If we fish Chickamauga again, we will come back to this house if available.

Family gathering

Our stay was wonderful. The house is extremely spacious and the backyard is big. Everything you need is in the house and available to use. The beds were extremely comfortable. We were able to spend time with family without worrying about anything.

Sisters Weekend with mom

We had a wonderful time. Spent much of it out at the pool and fire pit. Perfect amount of room for us to sleep and enjoy “home” cooked meals too.

THE BEST

My wife and i use VRBO on a whenever we travel. In six years this is THE BEST property we have EVER stayed at. Seven kids and two adults had the time of our life. Kids chased lightening bugs and swam on this huge property, and we never even made it to the creek. Awesome location, home, and host. The only reason we gave them five stars is there is not an option to give more. Cant wait to come back

More than just like home

You can tell this is a home that was loved through the years. Lots of room to spread out or gather, everything you need but clothes & food plus features you will enjoy that you cannot find easily, e.g. private pool, screened porch, lots of cooking items. We would definitely rent again!

Location close to downtown with pool

Large home with great outdoor space and pool. Two refrigerators help with food when cooking for large numbers and leftovers. Very close to downtown Chattanooga for sites.

Home away from home. We loved it!

Our whole family enjoyed the house, pool and property. We used the pool every day while we played corn hole in the side yard. Also the park was so close we ran and hiked everyday. The location of this house is perfect and is very well stocked. This is a home away from home.

Beautiful place

We had a great experience staying here. The house was clean and comfortable. It accommodated all eight of just fine. The location is close to downtown but in a quiet neighborhood. Also the owner was always responsive if we had questions. The pool was great for the kids. We would definitely be back if we visit again!

Hixson Home May 2021

The home was great. The location made for convenient access to Hixson mall and the city of Chattanooga. The pool was great. There was more than enough comfortable seating around the pool and patio. The enclosed porch, with a bath, was great while using the pool. My family had a wonderful time.

Loved this property, beautiful yard, trees, nice landscaping Exceeded my expectations. Plenty of room for our family of 8. Quiet neighborhood. 15 min to Chattanooga attractions. Pool was very large with abundance of seating and shady in late afternoon. Owner kept in touch to make sure our needs were met. Would stay here again and would highly recommend this property.

Loved this house for our family getaway!

We booked this house for our 8th annual family getaway vacation with friends and it was perfect! The house was big enough to accommodate 9 people, including 5 kids! The kids were never bored and enjoyed the pool! We loved everything about this house. And the home owner was fabulous as well. Great communication. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Spacious house in great location

The home was large with plenty of bathrooms for our family. It was a wonderful location in Chattanooga. Shirley was very helpful and responsive with any questions we had. The house was very well stocked with everything we needed! Towels for the pool, lots of pots and pans and spices. It made a great landing spot for the Ironman for us!

Large house with pool

Overall the family loved staying at this property. The pool was fantastic and all the amenities you could need were provided for you. My only minor issue was the front door was very hard to lock from the inside. Most times I never was sure if it was locked or not when we went to bed.

Family retreat

If your looking for a place to stay with your family no need to look any further. We had plenty of space to hang as a family and plenty of space to be on our own. The home is equipped with everything we needed plus more. The outdoor space was just as lovely. Beautiful view, sitting area and a pool. The pool was perfect. The location is minutes away from the Tennessee Riverpark. The owners were very gracious, made sure everything was good when we checked in and checked out. Our family will definitely be staying here again.

Great Family Thanksgiving Week Stay

The house was perfect for our gathering of 6 adults and 2 children. The multi-purpose room was huge and a great area for the kids to play and leave their toys and games. The various sitting areas provided places for private conversation, video gaming or resting. The pool was closed during our stay but the grounds are extensive and well-cared for. We might come back in the summer to enjoy the huge pool, BBQ and multiple outside sitting areas. We cooked our Thanksgiving meal in the well-stocked kitchen and overall had a lovely family vacation. Thank you!

Perfect place for holiday family gathering

This property is true to its pictures and description — we loved this house! Plenty of room for people to spread out, visit, eat and play games. Beds were VERY comfortable. Having 2 ovens and refrigerators was great since we were feeding (but not housing) 15 people. Shirley isn’t kidding when she says the kitchen is stocked with pretty much anything you would need. We used the crockpot for cider and a very nice roasting pan for the ham, and there was even an electric knife for carving it. There was a great assortment of baking dishes for our casseroles. Also plenty of eating and serving utensils. The enormous yard was perfect for after dinner strolls and the kids in our group loved climbing the gigantic magnolia. The house’s proximity to the North Chickamauga Creek Greenway is another bonus. We had a couple of delightful walks there. The entrance is a very short walk from the house, but Hamill Rd is busy with no shoulder, so we drove. Shirley was a very responsive and gracious host, quick to answer my texts and questions. Here are the few negatives we found: 1) the awning over the back door is probably very welcome during the hot summer, but in the winter it blocks your view of the woods and sunset. 2) It would be nice to have a game table in the multipurpose room. We brought a card table for working puzzles and placed it there, using the kitchen table for games. 3) The only reason I gave 4 stars for location was traffic noise. As mentioned above, Hamill Rd sees a lot of traffic, and Hwy 153 is also very close. The house is well back from the road, and the noise wasn’t disruptive. Perhaps it is quieter in the warm months when the trees are leafed out. 4) The ovens appear to be original to the house (which was pleasantly nostalgic for several of us) but they performed just fine. NONE of these issues were dealbreakers for us, and we would definitely stay here again.

We purchased this house in 1988 & have made many memories with our family & friends. It is very special to us. We now spend a lot of time visiting our children & grandchildren but don't want to sell Hamill. It is too special. We would like to share it with others & keep it for our grandchildren to enjoy.

Why they chose this property

We always wanted privacy but wanted close to everything plus I wanted a pool. We wanted one story so this house gave us everything.

What makes this property unique

Being able to walk out at night & see the sky and feel private. Also walking to the creek & sometimes seeing a beaver or otter. Watching all kinds of birds. Very tranquil but just a short ride to anything we might want to do
