Located just 25 minutes from the Shawnee National Forest, you`ll have easy access to nature`s beauty. But that`s not all – we are also conveniently located near the Shawnee Wine Trail, breweries, SIU, independent eateries, antique shops, hiking trails, farms, orchards and markets. This is the perfect destination for those looking to explore the undiscovered gems of Southern Illinois.

Our kitchen is made for feasting and our cozy living spaces make it easy to relax and reconnect with loved ones. Our home is ideal for couples, groups, and even private events. And the best part? We welcome doggos too! Our pet fee is partially refundable upon request as long as no damage, hair, or accidents are noted, so bring your furry friends along for the adventure.

The property was great for our three kids and two large dogs. It’s an awesome home with a great historic feel. We did day trips every day, and everything we wanted to visit was within a short driving distance. We were able to do the Little Grand Canyon, Garden of the Gods, Cave in Rock, Giant City and much more. The home was clean and well cared for. The bedding was phenomenal and super comfortable and clean. The yard provides a place for family fun. If we’re in the area again, this would be the only place we’d want to stay.

It was amazing all around. Fully stocked with everything we could need. Beautiful place. It is one of those places that when you are pulling up, you start doubting whether you are at the right place or not. Filled to the brim with details and so unique. We are already planning our next stay. The only downside was we did not get to stay longer this time! Very clean or course. Just beautiful in every way.

I felt like I had stepped back in time. This property is furnished with Victorian style adornments. Each room is comfortable with unique items that intrique you and take you back in time. The hostess was easily accessible and got back to you right away to resolve any issues.

What an amazing space!! The Nook and Key was just as described (and more!) Pictures honestly do not do this place justice, you really have to experience it!! The craftsmanship and decor are top notch and make you feel the history of the home. Our host, Dana, has thought of everything to ensure a comfortable and memorable experience. The house was filled with thoughtful amenities (everything from mouthwash to sipping scotch). She even coordinated a private chef as an add on to our stay for a special 4 course dinner experience in the formal dining room. Overall, amazing experience!! We especially loved the screened in porch, beautiful Magnolia tree and of course, the Nook under the stairs.

This 1893 vintage property was impeccable. Perfection in its decor, comfort, amenities and hospitality. Every nook and cranny in this house provided unique surprises and entertaining features. We wished we had had the time to take advantage of the murder mystery package!! Maybe next time.Our host, Dana provided warmth and charm ensuring we had maximum enjoyment. Our group traveled to Southern Illinois primarily to experience the Cache River Reserve. This unique property exceeded all expectations and provided an unexpectedly, over-the-top experience. I have used VRBO for decades. I can say without reservation that this stay was at the very top in luxury quality and service. Thank you Dana.
