If you are looking for a tourist hot spot with mini golf courses and t shirt shops every other block, then this might not be the place for you. But if you are looking to kick back and enjoy bay life as the locals do, where you can relax and enjoy time spent with your family and friends, then this could be what you're looking for. The house has plenty of room for all. We enjoyed hanging out pool side, playing games, BBQing on the gas grill, swimming in the bay, watching sunsets from the dock, spending the day kayaking and row boating around the bay/river , watching bay men working their trade, and watching the pleasure and sailboats cruising in the channel. We also took two day trips (just over about an hour drive each) to Assateague, once to the Maryland side and then next to the Va. side.
The house is in a remote area, the nearest grocery is about 30 min away, so plan accordingly. Also, there are wetlands around, which naturally has bugs, so bring some spray with you. Being we were there just after Hurricane Florence and during full moon high tides, the water level did come up into the end of the backyard, so make sure you have a pair of flip flops to wear to the dock( the ground was a little muddy before the sand of the beachy shoreline.
Sarah, the owner, was great with communication and helping us rearrange things when an unexpected party crasher (Hurricane Florence) started knocking at the back door. It was a great vacation for our family which included my husband, myself, our 4 grown children and their respectives, and our yellow lab. I grew up on the waters of Long Island, NY and our early family vacations were visiting Grandma and Grandpa and enjoying bay life on Long Island. This vacation brought those memories back for us and added so many more!
