Clean, quiet location across from the beach

We just returned from staying at this condo the week of New Year’s and had a great time. We’ve visited Playacar several times and this is one of the best condos and location we have stayed at. Oscar was great with communication and answered any questions we had promptly. The condo is very well equipped and clean and was nice to have a housekeeper come a few times during the week. The pool rarely had anyone there so no problem getting lounge chairs. Although it was New Year’s week, we had no problem getting into the Reef Club at 9:00 am and getting beach chairs and umbrellas. We also used the path to the left of the Reef Club to get to the public beach. You do need a Resident card which Oscar provided to show the security guard who will then let you through the locked gate. When leaving the condo heading to the right walking about 10 minutes, you will find a Starbucks, shops and booths to book excursions. Or head to Playa del Carmen the other way. We would not hesitate to book this condo again. Thanks Oscar!

Wonderful stay!

The condo was all we could have hoped for, clean, and the property is well maintained. Excellent location! The owners were prompt at replying with any questions we had. The housekeeper is friendly and thorough. Thank you Oscar & Andrea for a home away from home--we will return!

Lovely home in a gated community

The home was very clean and comfortable. Access to the beach via the Reef hotel was busy as Oscar promised, but the side access worked well!We had one day where the running water wasn't working. Oscar explained that this is because there's a tank shared by the whole building and if the building is really full sometimes it runs out before the staff can re-fill it.

Great Location

We enjoyed walking, pool and beach. The management was highly responsive when needed. The condo property was very well maintained and provided a quiet friendly environment.

Pet are NOT friendly

I gave an overall 3* mainly because of the listing stating “pet friendly” while the are NOT permitted nowhere on the property. We were there with our mini Yorkipoo of 7 pounds for 91 days but decided to leave almost 3 weeks earlier. Dogs are not welcome on that property. You cannot walk on the property with your pet: not in the small wood behind the property, not on the grass around the property, not in the parking or the aisle of the property, nowhere! And watch out to make sure you dog 🐶 does not make any noise close to barking even ounce, you will receive a complaint and may have to pay a fine. So I walked a lot … on the sidewalk. Just too bad the owner post the property as “pet friendly” because otherwise it is a nice place as described, although the interior of the condo is rather dark and the kitchen was missing a few items (cutting knife 🔪, oven mitts, cast iron skillet 🍳, etc) that we bought and left behind. The owner has always been polite. We were lucky to meet marvellous people from Québec (just like us) on site, they save our vacations. Otherwise we were to come back after 2 weeks because of the problem with the dog, the NOT pet friendly environment.

Vacation Paradise

Whether you want to relax by the pool, enjoy the beautiful weather on the balcony this is a great location. It had everything that we needed. We walked to 5th Avenue, down to the beach or just swam in the pool. The house keeper was simply amazing and our stay was great!

Lovely safe complex

We very much enjoyed our stay. The condo is in a small complex with a great pool and security. It was never crowded and the neighbours were friendly. It is away from the resort noise and crowds but easy to get to restaurants etc. Right across the street from the beach and you can go for the day using the resort lounges. The only minor complaint is a lack of patio chairs and loungers as many were broken (the condo owner say that they are trying to fix this). Also it would have been good to have some basic spices like salt and pepper and a bit of laundry detergent for guests. The housekeeper is pleasant and does a great job. I would recommend this property and would stay again.

Perfect location

This complex is right across the street from the Reef Beach club. For those who want to hit the beach in Playacar you just can’t get a closer to the beach! A 15 min walk gets you into Playa del Carmen and some excellent restaurants. Taxis are plentiful if you don’t feel like walking. Playacar has lovely wide sidewalks that make walking super pleasant. Unit is well appointed. We especially enjoyed the comfortable beds and loved the luxury bedding. In our experience rough sheets seem to be the norm in Mexico and were thrilled st the lovely soft sheets. There is a fantastic pool in the complex that we found was rarely used. 3 of the 5 days we used the pool we were the only ones using it all day long Overall, another really great stay in PDC

Very nice Condo

Stayed here in Dec 2016 and had a very pleasant stay. Condo is very nice, close to the beach, everything you may need. Nice and quiet as well. Access to The Reef Resort was a plus. It's right across the street. Be there by 8:50 a.m. to get a wrist band and then enjoy their beach, towels, and pool. The other plus, for us, was the washer dryer. I prefer to stay in a rental for this main reason. There is a new w/d and I did laundry every day. Only 2 minor things that could help out...supply more towels for a family of four. And perhaps a hair dryer. Other than that anything we needed we bought at the local grocery store (MEGA).

Great place for a holiday

First of all Oscar has a great home in Playacar. It is clean and comfortable. We stayed April 1st to 15th 2016 and was everything as advertised. The easy access to the Reef Playacar across the street was awesome (must be there by 9am to ensure entry ). They only allow 20 resident cards a day and 4 people to a card. Lots of grocery stores close by and restaurants for supper if you don't want to cook. The cleaning lady was there 5 times in two weeks and does a fantastic job. El Capitan Visits the Condo

Well, El Capitan and his crew decided on a condo this time - and Oscarino was good enough to consider us for his unit. Thank You Thank You Thank You Oscar. The unit was amazing - very comfortable - like being at home. The Capitan was in the front bedroom - and everything was great. Lots of closet and dresser space - and a nice big room. The location of this condo is amazing - right across the street from the Reef which we used almost daily for the beach. The Reef people treated us fantastic - and we got to know them since we stayed 2 weeks. We met other renters at the condo - and other owners as well. The pool turned out to be a nice late afternoon meeting place for renters that were out for the day and came back to have a brewski and relax. The unit has everything you need - start your coffee early because the coffee maker runs on Mexican time. A maid came in three times a week - and for water we just left the jugs out with the appropriate payment. There is a security guard there all night - awesome. If you are a light sleeper you may want to take the master bedroom - the one at the front is basically on the street and does get a little traffic noise. All in all a great vacation at a great location - it doesn't get much better. One thing would be nice - a working BBQ - that's about all that is missing. Once again, thank you Oscar - we'll be speaking with you again soon.

Wonderful quiet escape

We stayed March 22nd to the 29th 2016. The property was just as described, very well kept and clean. We had everything we needed to prepare food. Sam's Club is just minutes away by cab. The condo is close enough to walk to Playa. The public beach access is just a few minutes walk from the condo, and it was less crowded then the beach and the Reef Club, just bring towels or chairs as there are not chairs to sit on at the public beach. The pool was wonderful and well kept. There were never more then four or five other people at the pool at one time so it was very private. The grounds around the condo are also very well kept and clean. The housekeeper was great and did a wonderful job. We had one issue with one of the shower handles not working, but the owner had someone there within an hour and had it fixed. We went to the Reef Club to get beach access for the day and had no problem, but soon found out that if we wanted to leave for any reason we had to "check out" and turn in our bracelets. We were not able to come and go during the day once we had our bracelets. If we wanted to come back it would depend on how many residents were checked in as they only allow 20 resident cards per day. The Reef Club was nice and the beach was comfortable with plenty of seating. I would highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a relaxing at home feel who wants to escape the hotel scene.

Great condo! Close to everything!

My family of four stayed at the condo for 7 days in March. The condo was perfect for the four of us. It was spacious and had everything that we needed. Elia came in twice during our stay to clean and maintain the property - she was awesome! The condo pool was great and the overall property was well-maintained. We used the Reef club pass only once, but also spent time on the beach through a public access point nearby. It was only a 15 minute walk to downtown. Overall, a great stay!

Condo is in a perfect location!

I'm not a five star rater but this place is close. I wish I could do 4.5 stars. I just believe that nothing is perfect and everyone has different expectations. Anyway... My husband, two kids (7&9) and I had a super two week vacation here February 28-March 13, 2016. The condo is well stocked and the two king size beds are very comfy! We met other of our family & friends on this trip who also stayed at different condos at Chac Ha. The group of us with all the kids certainly took advantage of the pool! The owners that were in residence during our stay were very welcoming and helpful. Oscars place is on the second floor so there wasn't too many stairs; all his appliances are new and if we had questions on anything, he promptly replied. The housekeeper Elia, even cooked us some Mexican food for supper one day! We rented a car during our stay, which we would do again but you certainly don't have to because the condo is so close to everything. A taxi was always around 90 pesos for the down town area. Access to The Reef resort was a great benefit, just make sure you are there before 9am. If you 'miss' it you can buy an all day inclusive pass or get to the beach on a path a couple blocks away. We loved the Playa Del Carmen area; there is something for everyone and we are definitely coming back to Chac Ha!

Great location, very clean

We had a great time staying in playacar Feb 15-21 of 2016. The condo had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves. The condos location is perfect. It is literally across the street from the beach ( access through the Reef hotel). It is within walking distance to 5th avenue for shopping and restaurants. Plenty of cabs are available if you don't feel like walking. There are grocery stores close to stock up on supplies for your stay. The condo was cleaned during our stay. It is very clean, safe and we definitely would return.

Great location and wonderful accomodations

We enjoyed our stay and the condo met all of our needs. The location is great with close proximity to 5th avenue. Access to The Reef was nice since it was right across the street. This make the option to purchase the day pass extremely attractive which we did twice during our stay. The condo itself is very roomy and the balcony was also large. The unit was clean and maid service was provided 3 times while we were there. I strongly recommend that folks using the condo rent a car (at the Cancun airport) for the time that they will be there as the condo provides parking and you can take day trips to either Tulum, Xcaret or other places.

Beautiful pool on golf course

This condo has everything you need for a relaxed time when you want it, bird watching, or shopping, people watching, partying close by if that is your thing. Close enough to walk short distance to the beach. We didn't need or want a car. There was some seaweed there this time, but who can control Mother Nature? You can (but do not have to) use their access to the beach club across the street by getting a day pass or get to the beach via that club. Internet service is great. Very clean condo and grounds with a quiet lovely pool area. Housekeeper twice a week does a wonderful job; expect to tip her well, she deserves it. Great value for a vacation in Playa del Carmen! Jaime answered all our questions prior to arrival.

Great location, great vacation area

Chac Ha was an ideal location to take advantage of what Playa del Carmen has to offer. The condo came with beach privileges which is an important perk! Pool area at the condo was nice as well. No car was needed. We walked everywhere. Used a cab three times in ten days. Cleaning services were provided and proved to be top rate. We enjoyed the porch overlooking the deck as well. Also appreciated having good WIFI and comfortable beds. This condo was an excellent base of operation for our visit to Playa and Jaime, the owner, was quite responsive to our requests and needs. The condo is up a flight of stairs so would not be optimal for people with disabilities.

The condo was just great and exactly as advertised. Jaime promptly answered any questions I had before and while we were renting the condo. Jaime and family have a super convenient place right, across from The Reef resort. We appreciated the strong Wi-Fi connection, the A/C, access to The Reef amenities and how clean the condo was. The beds were soft and the kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, utensils, a lot of spices and cooking ingredients. Jaime provided beach towels and bathroom towels and even a soft sided ice chest to take on a picnic. (You can't take the ice chest to The Reef) The location was quiet and the covered patio was a wonderful place to sit and relax. The full size washer and dryer were much appreciated and having a housekeeper twice a week was a real luxury. We walked into town every evening for dinner and people watching. The sidewalks made it super easy to walk the short mile. By the time we ate and watched people for hours, we always took a cab back for $7. The price has gone up from $5 which is just fine. We'd rent Jaime's place again in a heartbeat.

So Beautiful and Relaxing!

The listing description and photos for this lovely condo are spot on! The location is amazing, and you're on the beach basically just crossing the street. Also provides access to hotel amenities, and is really like staying at the hotel, but much cheaper with less people! 10 minute walk to downtown Playa. The cleaning service was terrific and very detailed- we even had the option to request breakfast be prepared every morning! The property was spotless and very comfortable. The pool at the property is so beautiful and peaceful, and virtually unused by the few residents, so we had it to ourselves whenever we wanted. I would definitely recommend this property to friends looking for a relaxing, private vacation close to the beach and the action of downtown Playa, but far enough away to not be bothered by tons of people.

My father (Jaime) purchased this condo thinking he and my mother would retire there. My father passed away, and Instead me and my wife lived in it for 9 years. We now live in Colorado, but maintain the condo with high quality standards so that others can enjoy this beautiful place that my father had the vision to purchase back in 1998 with an envious location.

Why they chose this property

The property is like being in Paradise, it is located in the best place and the maintenance is excellent. You will enjoy the large and usually quiet pool. Also, in comparison to many other rental properties, we try to make the place feel like a second home and not a "rental". Finally, being in front of the Hotel Reef, it is like having the best of both worlds. You can have the "hotel" feel, amenities, and pool by simply walking across the street to the Hotel Reef, which provides free access to renters, or you can enjoy the peace and tranquility of your own place at the condo. You can even decide to have an "all inclusive" day, which can be purchased for an additional fee, directly from the Hotel Reef across the street, or simply enjoy a quiet home cooked meal back "home" at the condo. You have a lot of flexibility with our difficult to beat location.

What makes this property unique

Location, Beach, Golf, Shopping, Restaurants. No car is needed, there are plenty of taxis and tour buses. Reasonable price for a high end rental with upgraded amenities and appliances.
