Modern country cottage that is dog friendly with a fenced-in yard.

As approaching this country cottage the modern styling will evoke memories of the '60's with a current twist. Entering the front door you step in to an open concept design of living, dining, and kitchen. Relax on the leather sofa to watch TV w/ digital antennae, watch a DVD, listen to music on the retro-style AM-FM radio, read a book, or enjoy the view out the large picture window of nature and farm animals. WIFI allows you to stay connected. Enjoy cooking in the modern kitchen w/ glass-top electric range, retro looking microwave, full size refrigerator, and dishwasher. The cabinets are fully stocked with equipment to cook and enjoy your meals. Dine at the 51" custom cherry live edge table with seating for 2. The bedroom is comfortably appointed with a queen size bed, large dresser, ample closet space, ceiling fan, Edison-style lamp on the bedside table, flat screen TV, and a lineal electric fireplace. Modern bathroom w/ curbless shower, comfort height toilet, and floating vanity. Laundry located in enclosed closet. Stepping out the rear door you enter the screened-in porch w/ dining area, access to parking and fenced-in yard, grill deck, and gas fire pit with seating to enjoy your time. For the months of April- October (temperatures permitting) you may use the outdoor tiled shower for 2 in complete privacy looking up at the aerial view. We welcome your dog with bowls, sofa cover, and natural treats. Maximum weight for your dog is 30#. Only 2 dogs are allowed with a $125 fee for one and $125 for the second one. Send information for approval. We do require that you cleanup after your dog and and attend to them outdoors. Please note that our home does not accommodate children.
Our home is convenient to Route 30 & 283 to travel easily to Columbia ,Lancaster City, Amish country ,covered bridges, Gettysburg, Hershey and day trips to Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, or NYC.

Our two week stay was extremely pleasant! Our hosts were always there when we needed them and the location and surroundings, were interesting, unique and convenient to outdoor activities and shopping. Our cottage unit was extremely clean, attractive and had everything a guest would want or need just like your own home! Our experience at the Modern Cottage was so positive. This is the nicest VRBO property we’ve ever stayed at. There aren’t enough stars for a proper rating!

Unique and exceptional experience! We enjoyed the cattle on a hill, the chickens, the donkey AND the emu!! The Mod Pod was beautifully decorated with many thoughtful luxuries. Homemade scones and fresh flowers greeted us. The outside, open air shower “for two” was a special bonus! Lancaster County is a treasure, and this is a great location to enjoy it.

We've stayed here twice now, and both times have been wonderful! Carl and Pete are great hosts. Fresh eggs and homemade scones make this place a fantastic find. Lovely place to stay for Valentine's Day weekend with our beagles!

Very pet friendly, dogs were as comfortable as us. Kitchen had everything thing we needed. Living room was comfortable and furniture was very nice. Bedroom was spacious. Mattress was uncomfortable lumpy and uneven. Needed replaced. Very clean. We didn't use bbq but needed cleaned. Host made a scone that was made for the week. Carol that was delicious!! Also left us a dozen eggs from their chickens. Loved the farm setting. Gated for pets Very safe.

Carol and Pete are the best hosts and have a wonderful property. The freshly baked scones are worth the visit alone! I highly recommend their VRBO!

This is one of my all time favorite places that I've stayed at. The property is lovely, the house is unique and beautiful, and the extras like eggs, flowers and scones were such a wonderful treat.

cottage was amazing ! as were the scones . we enjoyed everything about our accomodations and exploring the area . our hosts were available but not intrusive, we enjoyed our privacy but knew our needs would be answered. we definitely will be returning!

Our 3rd Stay

My husband and I had another wonderful stay on Carol's property in May. We wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else when we are in the area. From the moment of our arrival, we are welcomed by Carol and her delicious scones and fresh eggs from her chickens. We feel relaxed as soon as we open the door. The only disappointment we experienced was having to leave! We can't wait for our next visit!

Great Rental

Rental was extremely clean & well furnished. Wonderful view. Thoughtful touches like fresh eggs, freshly baked blueberry scones, fresh flowers, candy & even dog treats. The fenced in yard for our dog was greatly appreciated. Our dog found the chickens, rosters, emus & burros very interesting. The property is very well maintained & the owners are close by but give you privacy. Highly recommend.
