This beautiful, rural villa is situated inland, in the Axarquia area of Malaga province, Andalucia. Casa Belmonte has been renovated imaginatively in a rustic yet modern style with plenty of attention to detail. The property faces south and sits in a commanding position overlooking Lake Vinuela. The tranquil location features a fabulous 9m x 4m private salt-water pool with a large sunbathing area, open views and a shaded summer terrace with dining for 11 guests & a built in BBQ . There are other terraces too - a vine covered terrace by the kitchen/diner, a Spanish style walled patio that leads to a roof terrace (perfect for star gazing! ) are amongst some of the outdoor areas.
The cool, light, spacious house has 5 double bedrooms and 4 lovely shower rooms. All full of character. The 5 bedrooms are air conditioned for extra comfort in the summer months. A beautiful home from home for up to 11 guests. There is a large family kitchen/diner and a luxurious sitting room with satellite TV and south facing views. The mature gardens and vine covered terraces that surround the property offer many places to relax and unwind in or out of the sun. Play table tennis, darts or boules.

An immaculate incredibly spacious traditional finca with outstanding views over rural Andalusia.

We were a party of 8 including 3 of my four children aged 19 to 26 years old and girlfriends. The property was absolutely stunning and far more spacious than the pictures indicate! My eldest arrived first. We got lost arriving in the middle of the night but that is the beauty of the place - remote, yet accessible to villages with well stocked supermarkets and even walking distance to a bar/restaurant. He took me on a tour of the property and we had to go around 3 times to take in all the rooms, terraces and seating areas to take in the enormity of the property. All of the rooms were air- conditioned which was brilliant and 2 have their own en-suites. The kitchen was so well equipped that we cooked and ate in every night, enjoying the different terraces to watch the sunset or admire the pool. The pool was perfect and simply the best with its sloping sides. The owners have worked hard to create a perfect outdoor setting including a beer fridge, and beautiful planting - admired by my architect son. If you are reading this and looking for a spacious place with room for lots of family and add ins don’t hesitate to book - you won’t be disappointed.

A memorable mountainside retreat

Casa Belmonte is a secluded and charming home-from-home, situated in a delightful garden with stunning views. We, a group of nine ranging from 6 to 73, spent a lovely fortnight here and were very sad to leave. The photographs of the property don't fully capture quite how lovely the grounds of the property are, nor how stunning the views are. Each of the bedrooms is decorated in an individual and quirky style, and there was quite a lot of competition among our group to secure our personal favourites! The rooms really suited our group, but it's worth knowing that the room with the double and single bed is separated from the kitchen by curtains rather than a door, which may be an issue if there are a combination of early risers and light sleepers in the group. The villa is wonderfully quiet and isolated, but is only a 15-minute drive from a well-stocked supermarket, bakery, and cafe-bars. We found the villa well situated for excursions to Ronda, Granada, Nerja, Antequera, El Torcal, and other destinations. We were virtually untroubled by mosquitos, which was a big bonus, but the rural setting does mean there are some fascinating animals and insects to see (including a scorpion, centipede, geckos, and chameleons, not to mention the villa's resident cats). Hilary and Rob were perfect and accommodating hosts and it was a real pleasure to spend two very memorable weeks in their beautiful property. There are some adults' and childrens' books in English, and a selection of games in the villa, that kept us happily entertained when not cooling off in the pool or out exploring the region.

Fantastisch huis met schitterend uitzicht

We hebben een heerlijke vakantie gehad in het huis in Alcaucin. Het ligt prachtig in de bergen maar niet te eenzaam. Leuke dorpjes in de buurt en ook het strand is heel goed te doen voor een dagje. Prachtige wandeling (Sedella) hebben we gemaakt en op een enorme hangbrug gestaan!! Aanrader. Het huis heeft allerlei plekjes om te zitten, je kan de zon op zoeken maar ook de schaduw. IJskastje en bbq bij het zwembad, heel gezellig. Na het eten sprongen de jongens (17,17,16,14,14 jaar) het zwembad nog even in. Binnen ook alles goed verzorgd en ruime keuken. En de poesjes die we mochten verzorgen! Zo lief zijn ze. De pingpong tafel is ook goed gebruikt, erg leuk al die extra's. Onze enige persoonlijke noot zijn de bedden. We lezen er niets over in andere reviews dus het kan heel verschillend zijn voor mensen. Wij vinden 1.40 m breed geen tweepersoons bedden. En de lengte van 1.90 is ook niet zo royaal voor mannen/jongens van 1.85 m en langer. Als de bedden gewoon 1.80x2.00 zouden zijn, is het een 5 sterren plus huis.

Paradise found!

There aren't enough superlatives to describe our holiday! We have never stayed in such a perfect house in such a perfect location. We had a number of mishaps en route (lost ID card, stolen driving licence etc!) and found ourselves without a hire car for our 2 weeks holiday. This could have ended up in disaster, but thanks to Hilary and Rob's help we found a great local taxi (a big thanks to Eve ) and spent a wonderful 2 weeks just relaxing in their beautiful house, admiring the views...and what views. The house is just as beautiful as it looks in the pictures and we spent 2 weeks soaking in the sun and admiring the great attention to detail in both the house and garden. The pool was perfect, the dart board and ping pong table meant we all had loads of fun and the shaded terrace meant we could read peacefully whilst profiting from the views. Even my 15 year old son said he'd never had so much fun on holiday! The local village Puente, 10 minutes drive away in the valley, has everything you need food-wise and a great shop selling all sorts of bits and bobs for amusement. There are a couple of very nice local restaurants to give you a break from cooking every night. We cannot wait to come again to explore what we missed this time! A huge thank you to Hilary and Rob.

Peace and tranquillity, spacious villa and fabulous holiday

We had a wonderful two week stay in Rob and Hilarys' beautiful home up on the mountainside. The views were stunning, the villa was perfect for our family holiday with 10 month granddaughter. Very spacious and thoughtfully decorated, comfortable and extremely relaxing. Lovely to feed the chickens and collect eggs, the pool was gorgeous and relaxing to swim and look out over the valley. The rooftop was a little oasis to watch the sun come up or view the stars and the courtyard was abundant in jasmine and the smell just intoxicating. We had a really good time, thank you.

Beautiful secluded house with stunning views

We (10 friends) stayed in casa belmonte for 1 week in June. The house was spacious, and had everything we could possibly need - everything from cooking equipment to games (particularly enjoyed twister). The pool was lovely and views from the terrace and all round the house were spectacular, looking over the nearby hills of the national park, the lake and the sea in the distance. Fantastic star gazing at night. Hilary and Rob were very helpful in meeting us on arrival, and were easily contactable. It was a fantastic place to relax with friends. The area is very remote, up on a hill with incredible views. We hired cars and drove from Malaga airport which was a straightforward drive (until the very last bit where Hilary met us to show us to the house). It was so lovely exploring the local area - we visited a few small villages as well as the very beautiful national park for a walk. It's also only 35mins drive to the coast if you fancy a beach day. We cannot recommend this property enough, it is such a beautiful place to stay!

Stunning place is a beautiful area

This was our 2nd visit to Casa Belmonte and it is still as lovely as we remember it. There is everything you require for a home from home stay, the villa is lovely, spacious and clean and has all the facilities that you need. The views from the villa are amazing, the photo's really don't do it justice. Lake Vinuela is so blue, and you can see the sea and the olive trees which you never get tired of. If you want to relax you can sit around the pool, have a BBQ, get fresh eggs daily from the chickens. Hilary and Rob were very accommodating and met up with us on arrival, as per the first time we stayed they showed us around the property letting us know of any changes since the last time we stayed. They were on hand to provide any help we needed and also arranged a mini-bus to take us to the next village Periana so we could go out for a family meal and a drink so we didn't have to take the car. They also have a book there to provide ideas to do while you are there if you are stuck. The villa is about an hour away from the airport, 30 minutes from the beach in Torre del Mar which has a big market on a Thurs 9-2pm. The Eroski supermarket is about 20 minutes away which has everything you would need for shopping and your stay, or there is a Lidl if you want a cheaper shop. If you want something a bit closer, just down the hill (in your car) there are some restaurants and bars, with a bakery, butchers and small supermarket for local and international produce. If our feeling a bit adventurous you can take a trip into the nearby villages for the traditional Spanish atmosphere, where the locals are friendly, especially if you try and give Spanish a try. We visited when the ferrias (Spanish festivals) were taking place with amazing atmospheres and great photo opportunities (Alhama de Granada and Puente de Salia). I would definitely recommend a stay at Casa Belmonte and can only say wonderful things about the place and the hosts :-)

Simply fabulous....

The location, the house, the pool, the chickens with fresh eggs every day! The almonds on the trees the beautiful grounds with Rob and Hil's love of plants clearly on show we could not have been happier. It's a 20 minute drive down to the coast and only 45 Mins from Malaga airport, or up to Zafarraya and on to Alhama on the way to Granada where you can see the majesty of the Sierra Nevada. The local hills including Maroma and natural park of the Sierra Tejada are also inspiring and offered us some opportunities for cool woodland and forest walks. This was a great holiday with plenty to do for the whole family and a great place to be on the days we wanted to do nothing. Message to Rob and Hil: we all had a fabulous time thank you so much for making us so welcome and we just loved the lovely touches in the house and gardens. Mr P and the family from Leicester UK

Paradise Found

As Autumn arrives in the UK our thoughts return to Casa Belmonte and our magical summer away. We were lucky enough to spend a second blissful holiday at Rob and Hilary's beautiful Spanish retreat and how excited we were to return! The house easily accommodates three generations of our family with plenty of room to spare, the interior has the perfect balance of comfort and style, whilst the outside space has more than enough to keep a large family happy and the views are just breath taking! Once you arrive there really is no need to leave except maybe to visit the local shops and butchers to stock up on food for the BBQ, but if you wanted to explore then El Toril is perfectly located to visit the nearby natural parks, the coast and even Granada for a day out. Casa Belmonte has given us so many happy memories and we will feel as though we have made some lovely friends in Rob and Hilary. We have some fantastic photos to see us through the winter and, suffice it to say, we have already begun saving for our third visit! Thank you again Rob and Hilary for sharing your piece of Spanish tranquility with us once again, The Wilson-Bassetts.

Family Holiday.

We had a family get together celebrating two birthdays and having a special holiday. The villa really does have the wow factor as it has sufficient bedrooms, fabulous views, sunny pool and is spacious enough for everyone to have a quiet moment should they need one. It has tons of character and also plenty to amuse everyone with darts, table tennis and also wifi for those that need it . It also has a pool table on the roof terrace with amazing views but unfortunately previous holiday makers had left it uncovered so is needing repair. We had a great time and would love to visit this fabulous Villa again. Highly recommended.

An amazing vacation

From the warm welcome you'll receive from Hillary and Rob on arrival to the moment you finally have to leave, Casa Belmonte will leave you spellbound. Three generations of our family recently stayed at Casa Belmonte and we all had the most wonderful time. The clean and well kept villa is large enough to spread out and for everyone to find their own secluded piece of heaven, or come together for a meal on the shaded summer terrace. The views are stunning and you'll find it hard to tear yourself away. We did manage day trips to both Granada and Ronda, both of which are less than 2 hours away by car. We can't recommend Casa Belmonte and its owners highly enough, a truly magical vacation

Excellent property - a real gem !

Our holiday at Casa Belmonte was simply wonderful. The property is so much more than standard modern villas we have stayed in before. The design and attention to detail is exceptional and the facilities excellent. The youngsters in our group particularly loved the pool and there is ample outdoor space and seating for everyone. Hilary and Rob provided everything we needed, including detailed driving instructions from the airport. They are excellent owners and nothing was any trouble to them. We took advantage of Rob's culinary skills and had a memorable evening with excellent fresh cooked local produce. Casa Belmonte is a real gem and we will definitely return. Highly recommended !

Casa-Belmont a beautiful villa with stunning views

Our family recently spent a week at Casa Belmont. The villa is beautiful and the views were stunning. The property was well maintained & clean, with comfortable beds. We all enjoyed the pool with the shallow end being particularly good for our two grandsons aged eleven months and four years. The shaded terraces provided plenty of protection from the sun and a choice of places to eat. During our stay we enjoyed fresh eggs from the chickens & herbs from the garden. We enjoyed our stay at the villa and would recommend it for a holiday to those who enjoy a peaceful rural setting.

Brilliant holiday, beautiful views, lovely villa

The villa was just as described, the views even better. We received a welcome tour around the villa by Hilary and Rob, with information about things to do in the area. As the holiday was for a 60th, they organised transport to a restaurant in a nearby village for all 9 of us, the restaurant was lovely and couldn't fault the service we got. We received excellent customer service from Hilary and Rob, they answered any problems or questions we had and then checked we were all ok afterwards. We hired 2 cars at the airport so we could get about and visited the beach in Torre Del Mar, which also had a market on the day we went. There is a large shopping centre about 30 minutes away where we bought most of our food shopping, but there was a small town about 10 minutes drive in the car, where you could buy food, a butchers for meat, and a few restaurants if you wanted to eat. We would all definitely recommend this villa to friends and family we had a brilliant time. Thanks Hilary and Rob

Spectacular Villa and Terrific Hosts!

Our stay at Casa Belmonte was, without a doubt, the best vacation of our lives. Admittedly, this is in large part because we stayed for the occasion of our wedding, and used the house to host a "Paella Pool Party" the night before we married at a nearby hotel. But it's also a tribute to the amazingly beautiful and well appointed villa and to the graciousness of the hosts. Rob and Hillary, who also served as the five star chefs for our party. We were surprised to find that the home itself actually exceeded the beauty of the photos on the website. We left the place reluctantly, and trying to imagine how we could find a way to relocate to this beautiful part of the world. We will never forget our stay at Casa Belmonte, and hope we will return, perhaps for an anniversary!

this has got to be the most amazing place we have ever stayed in. the views are spectacular, the rustic comfort of the cortijo is beautiful, much larger than it looks in the photos and you dicovered a new little quirky detail every day, the grounds and pool are stunning and completely private whether laying in pool star gazing at night or soaking in the scenery whilst sun bathing.Lots of beautiful shady areas to escape to if needed. If you can tear yourself away, there are plenty of whitewashed towns to explore and eat out and activities within a half hour's drive or less but to be quite honest I found it difficult to leave, the whole place is totally spellbinding. Rob and Hilary are really excellent hosts without intruding on your privacy. Most magical moments - finding the valley below obscured by low clouds whilst we were bathed in sunlight, it felt like we were the only people in the world; and the friendly local chameleons who happily sat on your arm and sunbathed. A paradise for nature and sun lovers alike. we were a group of ten, including grandparents, teenagers and a four year old and we all loved every minte. The only downside was having to leave at the end of our stay!! Maria

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this area , the landscape is spectacular and it's something special to be totally surrounded by the beauty of nature. The sunsets and stars are something else too! On our first visit to view this property we knew we had to have it, we loved the run down thick, stone walls and how the place is built into the mountainside and of course the views. There was also so much room for a 'project' which is what we were after and we set about reforming and adding on. Now we like to see how our summer guests also fall in love with what we have made of casa belmonte.

What makes this property unique

Spending time at casa belmonte you feel at one with the glorious countryside tranquility. It is difficult to leave. The old property offers something different from a modern villa - the old thick walls, bare rocks in the house, old patterned floor tiles, the rustic courtyard and the attention to detail both inside and out help make casa belmonte a magical place.
