This is a hunting/fishing camp located in the heart of the Allegheny National Forest. For the avid fisherman, East Hickory Creek is a short drive (about 2 minutes) and access to the Hickory Creek Wilderness Area is a short drive away as well (about 5-6 minutes). East Hickory Creek provides trout fishing for native trout (brook trout) and stocked trout (brown, rainbow, and brook species). Additional fishing opportunities for a variety of fish species are available on the Allegheny River (10-12 minutes drive) as well as Tionesta Lake (15-20 min. drive) and Kinzua Lake (30 min. drive).
For the avid hunter, there is plenty of hunting opportunities to hunt black bear, whitetail deer, turkeys, and various small game. The location is near plenty of public land so posted property is no concern. Hunting on the Allegheny National Forest is walking distance and access to the Hickory Creek Wilderness Area is a short drive, as noted above.
Hikers and other outdoor enthusiast may enjoy local hiking trails. The Hickory Creek Wilderness Area offers multiple hiking trials for that range from a short jaunt through the forest to an all-day excursion. There are also opportunities for those who enjoy kayaking/canoeing on Tionesta Creek and the Allegheny River. For those who don't own their own canoe or kayak, multiple rental companies are a short drive away.
This cottage/camp is semi-rustic. There is no running water, however there is a naturally occurring spring about a 2 min. drive away where water for washing/rinsing and other general purposes can be accessed. There is electric throughout. There is an outhouse on-site. Heat is available via an installed propane heater for colder nights in the fall months.
This camp/cottage has a small bunk room with a single bed and a bunk bed. The master bedroom has a bed sizable for two and a single cot. The camp/cottage also has a small kitchen and living room area.
Again, this is a rustic camp, so if roughing it a bit is not for you, this rental may not be for you. Otherwise, enjoy.

Lovely cabin just as described and nestled in the Allegheny National Forest. Lots of wildlife! Ryan was easy to communicate with and the cabin was tidy. Really enjoyed our stay. Will rent again.
We stayed over the 4th of July. The listing is spot on. Communication with Ryan was very easy. We usually go tent camping but had a baby last year and wanted more shelter. This was perfect, it is in the woods but there are neighbors close by. Our older daughter didn’t mind as she was able to play with some of the neighbor kids. Overall was a nice little getaway!

The property is located on a small dirt road with other cabins near by. The owner was easy to contact and did worn us about the cabin being rustic. There is no water, and only an outhouse. There is not much of a yard but made the most of the front porch. There are trails in the vicinity which is why we went to this area. We try to make the best of anywhere we go, but if your looking for cleanliness then this wouldn't be the ideal place to stay, but like I said, the owner was honest telling us it was rough.

Sorry to hear your stay was not ideal. I do, however, note in all caps in the property description that there is no running water and also ask travelers to confirm that they've read the description before I confirm their stay. There is also a picture of the outhouse in this property's photos. Regarding cleanliness, bedding is changed between every stay and all sufaces are cleaned with a disinfectant. Other standard cleaning practices are done between traveler stays as well. I will admit that the exterior is not always able to be kept spotless as it is a cabin in the middle of a forest, but I believe the property descriptions should convey that pretty openly.
Simple and perfectly adequate if you plan to spend your time in the woods. This camp is probably not the best if you want solitude at the rental but it's not far away if you like to hike. There's pretty good trout fishing very close and I'm sure the hunting for anything but birds is as good as anywhere.
Charming rustic older cabin, just as described. No running water which was clearly stated and understood by us. Outhouse well, it’s an outhouse! The camp is charming and comfy. Communication with Ryan was excellent. We look forward to returning at some point.
The Rustic Cabin was just as advertised! Slight damp smell when we first arrived, as to be expected in the area. Outhouse was clean and the cabin was clean. My only negative would be compared to other listings in the area, the add on fees made it over priced.
Very nice little get away in the mountains with friendly people and a nice little town too. With the spring down the road water wasn't a problem. We'd stay again. Thank you..
My fiancé and I made a last minute decision to go to PA for the weekend to explore the Allegheny River and Forest And it was the best idea yet! We loved our time here over the weekend. It’s it’s great location, tons of hiking, and kayak locations and a cute little town! The neighbors across the lane were amazing and friendly the entire weekend. The camp was just as it says “rustic” but very well taken care of! The owner was extremely wonderful to deal with and was flexible with us during the stay. Anyone looking to get away and unplug to get closer with nature sure stay here.

Sorry to hear abput your stay. However, to be far, it says in the rental description that there is no running water so I'm not sure how I could have been more upfront with that info. The camp is described as rustic and is in forest, so mice and chipmunks are inevitable, unfortunately. I've used all ethical deterrents on the market and they still find there way in.
