About this property
The County Queen - Historic Home in Picton
Summary:
The County Queen has the warmth of home. Curated with a mix of vintage and modern. Ideally located within walking distance of downtown Picton and the Harbour. Just a short drive to the stunning beaches of Sandbanks Provincial Park and the charming towns of Bloomfield and Wellington.
This home is fully licensed per Prince Edward County bylaws (ST-2025-0040)
The Space:
We are close to Main St in a historic residential neighbourhood. A short walk to restaurants, shops, cafes, parks, and Picton harbour. You’ll love our place because of the location and charm. We are a short drive to Sandbanks Provincial Park, Bloomfield, Wellington, Waupoos and the numerous wineries, craft breweries, farms and hiking and biking trails.
Good for couples, groups of friends, and anyone looking to experience the charm of the County. We provide a vehicle pass to Sandbanks Park good from April 1 - October 31.
All bedrooms have Endy mattresses for a very comfortable sleep.
There are 2 yoga mats available and space in the living room, dining room or back deck to stretch out on them.
You have access to the entire house except the basement.
There is a large backyard with a deck that sits in the shade of large nut tree. A canopy tent is put up for spring-fall to ensure shaded seating. There is a gas barbecue and comfortable seating on the back deck.
There are many dining choices, but here are a few reco's in Picton that we really enjoy:
Bocado - They serve incredible Spanish tapas. One of Ontario's best restaurants.
Onesta - Fresh pasta made daily. We love their caesar salad.
The Royal - Picton's restored, historic hotel is worth checking out for the design alone, but they also have a beautiful high end restaurant and coffee bar.
Russ and Co - Picton's newest cocktail bar adjacent to the Regent Theatre
The Regent Theatre is also a short walk away on Main Street. It began as a movie theatre in 1918 and then hosted vaudeville acts in the 1930's. It is now a fitting centre for the arts community in PEC, hosting live theatre, music and movies.
The Glenwood Cemetery two blocks south of Main Street off Ferguson St. has 62 acres of rolling hills, majestic mature forests, and winding roads. Highly recommend this for an early morning walk. This 1873 cemetery was designed by the same architect that designed the Mount Pleasant cemetery in Toronto.
There is a boardwalk from Picton marina that will take you to the new development of Port Picton where you can check out the Claramount Club with it's restaurant the Foundry.
There are a couple of taxi services available if you want to leave the car at home:
Terry's Taxi
The Taxi Guy
And there's also a ride sharing service called Uride
Guest Access:
You will have access to whole house except the basement. Upstairs has 3 bedrooms and a washroom. The main floor consists of the living room, dining room, kitchen and another washroom.
Washer and dryer are located in the kitchen area.
There are sliding glass doors to the back deck and the backyard.
The backyard is gated.
The Neighborhood:
In the charming historical neighbourhood of downtown Picton. A short walk to shops, restaurants, cafes, Picton Harbour, grocery and LCBO. Quiet although close to downtown Picton.
Getting Around:
The house has parking for two vehicles in the driveway next to the house. We are close to the Millennial Trail and PEC is a favourite for cyclists overall. If visiting vineyards or craft breweries there are tour companies or taxi service available - if you can’t secure a DD driver.
Other Things to Note:
We would ask that you be considerate of our neighbours. They are lovely people on both sides. Please be respectful of the noise.
