Great rustic property, close to several outdoor experiences
The loft in the barn was very comfortable, well appointed, and perfect for those wanting to get away. Located right on a stream, the sound was very relaxing. The location was convenient to great hiking, biking, and the Boone and Blowing Rock area. The kitchen had everything one would need to prepare great meals. Looking forward to coming back in the summer! The host was very accommodating and checkin/out could not have been easier.
Wonderful place for couple
Quiet and peaceful and really nice furnishings etc with trails to nearby water falls.
So Much More than an "1800's Custom Crafted Barn"
There is so much to see on and around this property, which is very close to both state lines of VA (7 miles from Damascus) and NC (30 miles from Boone). Additionally, there are also some great restaurants (and grocery stores) in Mountain City, TN, which is only 7 miles away. This "barn" is equivalent to the "penthouse" at a luxurious hotel! The kitchen is fully furnished with many extras that Marilyn has generously provided. The furniture in the main "family room" is exquisite, and there is plenty of wood throughout for that "rustic cabin feeling." that I love. The bathroom is fully stocked with plenty of towels and nice "extras," like "make-up remover towelettes" for us women. The large flat-screen TV is located in the bedroom, and the queen-sized bed has plenty of comfy blankets. If you have back problems and would prefer a firm bed, you may not like the "foam mattress." My husband and I (and our dog) thoroughly enjoyed staying there for three nights during our Christmas vacation, and everything in and around the "barn" is decorated so nicely for the holidays! It was difficult for us to return back home to the "hustle and bustle" of our "city lives."
Hope to see them again soon!
Thank-you Marilyn for creating such a warm, cozy get away on your beautiful horse farm.
This place had everything I needed. I needed a tissue, there was two boxes, I needed olive oil there was a tiny bottle, I needed a warm cozy place to get away and relax there was a gas fire place, king size bed and Netflix. Everything was buttery soft, the sheets, the bed, the rugs the sofa, the throw blanket! The only negative thing was I did not want to leave and I was so sad when that time came. I will return, to my happy place again, soon!
So glad you enjoyed your stay and I DO hope you’ll return soon!
Had an amazing time. Was spotless. Check in and out process was so easy . Little details about the loft were written on notes and placed throughout the loft to make your stay more comfortable. Great experience! Will definitely return!
Wonderful stay. Peaceful quiet surroundings..beautiful cabin. Could not have been more perfect!

Inducted into the Rails to Trails Hall of Fame in 2015, the Virginia Creeper Trail is one of the country’s most famous biking trails. The Creeper stretches 34 miles from Whitetop Mountain down to Abingdon, VA, passing straight through downtown Damascus along the way. The portion of the trail going from Whitetop to Damascus is almost all downhill for 17 beautiful miles, making it the most popular bike route in the region.
Several bike rental companies in town offer shuttle services from Damascus to Whitetop, so the trail is highly accessible; and there are plenty of opportunities to stop along the way, for food, scenery or historical information.
For more info about the Creeper, check out the VA Creeper Trail website and the VA Creeper Trail Club website.
