Such a cozy cabin, we really enjoyed how quiet and peaceful it was. The hot tub was great, and private so you could enjoy a relaxing moment. I also enjoyed getting to see the next door neighbors ducks! Our host was also excellent and made sure our stay was perfect.
This cabin is amazing! We found everything just as the listing noted. We particularly enjoyed the hot tub in the private and secluded courtyard. The cabin was very clean and well stocked. The host thought of everything. The property is centrally located to many high country attractions. We hiked several trails and waterfalls in the area, and returning to relax in the hot tub was phenomenal. The neighbors are closer than they appear in the photo, but we never knew they were there. We are already looking forward to a return visit to Fernwood cabin!
This cabin was great for my wife and I! It was private and a good location to Boone. We would highly recommend to everyone! The host was great and they stayed in contact with us the entire time to make sure that everything was good throughout our stay.
We had a wonderful stay. Beautiful cozy cabin! Diane was wonderful and communicated quickly! One of the few cabins we have stayed that had many little “extras” for your convenience. Thank you!
This is the most precious and well appointed cabin we have ever stayed in. It had everything! You could stay one night or a month. The craftsmanship of the cabin alone is outstanding. The area is beautiful. It is so close to so many amazing little towns and beautiful views. We will definitely stay again!!!
This is an amazing property! Every amenity you could need, all plainly laid out. Super clean and completely cozy. My only regret is not booking a longer stay.
Absolutely beautiful property, loved the coziness of the cabin. Everything was provided for you, makes it so easy to just pack a bag and go. Diane is very easy to communicate and work with. Location is perfect to explore the blue ridge parkway, downtown West Jefferson/Jefferson area, and Boone. Max drive to anywhere is 20-30 minutes. Would 100% stay here again.

About the host
Hosted by Diane Kradel
We are a woman owned, family run business, Kradel's Kabins LLC, located in Mooresville, NC just north of Charlotte. My son William, and my daughter Heather, work along with me to provide cozy vacation rentals in Boone, NC. Moving to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2009 from Pennsylvania it didn't take long to realize how close we were to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. We purchased our first cabin, Laurelwood, in Boone in the fall of 2016 and we enjoyed hosting so much that we have since purchased two additional cabins, Fernwood in the summer of 2017, and Tanglewood in the fall of 2017. Currently we have a tiny home under construction that we anticipate will be ready for guests by fall of 2024! We hope to enrich the vacation experience of anyone visiting Boone by making their stay in Laurelwood, Fernwood, or Tanglewood (and soon Wildwood) a memorable one.
Why they chose this property
Our first cabin property, Laurelwood, was such a hit, first with ourselves, then our friends and family, and finally with our guests, that we searched for a second property. We found Fernwood in nearby Deep Gap and became intrigued with the history and musical story behind Doc Watson and Merlefest as well as the close proximity and easy access to both Boone and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We figured we found yet another property worth sharing with our guests.
What makes this property unique
Fernwood is a simple log cabin yet the quality features stand out. The fireplace, curved staircase and window seat in the loft give a cozy feel. The private back courtyard is perfect for a glass of wine in the evening, relaxing in the hot tub, or a cup of coffee in the morning warmed by the fire pit.
