About the host

Hello! My name is Joe and I am from Morrison, CO. I love to travel, mountain bike, ski, hike, and explore the outdoors. I also have lots of memories of listening to Red Rocks concerts from my parent's rooftop deck in Morrison. With these experiences, I hope to offer others the same opportunities and a fun and comfortable place to stay while exploring or relaxing as well as providing input on places to go and things to do.

In my spare time, I am also a volunteer firefighter and EMT, so if I pull out of the driveway fast and speed off- I'm just responding to a 911 call.

Why they chose this property

I grew up biking and hiking in Indian Hills at Mt Falcon, Lair O' the Bear, and other trails in the area as well as fishing in Bear Creek. I knew from a young age that I wanted to live here as it is close to my home town, but a little further into the mountains. It allows me to live in a small, quiet mountain town, but work in downtown Denver. It truly is the best of both worlds.

What makes this property unique

A few years back my wife and I sold our house in Morrison and bought our lot in Indian Hills. I have always had an interest in architecture, so my wife and I designed our dream home- something totally unique with a space to share with others. What was supposed to take a year and a half- only took 4! Who knew building a house ourselves would be that hard?! (Everyone but us.) But we did it, and we are thrilled to welcome guests to sit on the deck and stargaze or enjoy the view of the trees, mountains, deer, turkeys, birds, and occasional elk that bring us joy. (As I am writing this, there is a deer laying down 10' from me enjoying the shade under the deck.)

Our property is in the middle of hiking and biking trails, totally removed from the noise and congestion of the city, but close enough to pop in for all that Denver has to offer. We have several parks within a 2-7 minute drive, as well as a parkour gym and playground that you can walk to from the cottage.

The cottage itself is also unique. It is an octagon, which was a compromise between myself and my wife who loves circles. Though it is next door to the main house, we have it set up for privacy and we are committed to making you feel like you've got the place to yourself. The benefit is we are close by and ready to help if you need anything at all. Need to borrow something? Want to chat about fun things to do in the area? Just come on over! We are always available, but will not interrupt your stay. You won't hear from us unless you reach out first.
