About this property
The Frankenmuth Dawdy Haus - festival option
Coming to a major festival in Frankenmuth? This listing is just for you. If you see another Dawdy Haus listing, then you didn't enter specific dates. This listing is only for major festival weeks and has a more restrictive cancellation policy. The calendar will open for upcoming festivals as dates are announced.
If cancellation is a concern, we can refer you to a trip interruption insurance provider. We recommend having that!
We just can't be stuck with empty rooms on the most important weekends in Frankenmuth, with our otherwise very flexible policy.
Want to experience Frankenmuth in the best way? How about 3 bedrooms near the heart of Frankenmuth. Walking distance from almost anything.
"Dawdy Haus" is Pennsylvania Dutch (Amish) for "Grandpa's House". When the kids have grown up and the house becomes too big, it becomes time to turn it over to a child that has their own growing family. The Amish often build a new house for the grandparents - with a guest room or two. This is known as the "dawdy haus".
This is our dawdy haus! Let us share it with you!
PLEASE NOTE. You are booking the entire main floor of the house. The owners live in the basement. This home is a Bed and Breakfast, and breakfast is available at no extra cost. When choosing to book this 'whole house' option, many do so because they prefer a little more privacy over breakfast. Let us know if you do want breakfast, and then we can talk about the menu!

Inspired by the Amish, we've decorated in a simple farmhouse style that will make you feel comfortable and relaxed. Our home is all about having a place for family and friends to visit and share time together. Whether it's early morning coffee on a glider rocker on the sun porch, grilling on the patio, or competing with the kids on the full size air hockey table, we hope you just feel at home.
Like most Amish dawdy hauses, it is a ranch style home so you don't have to deal with stairs. So even if it is smaller than the home we just moved out of, there is plenty of room for sleeping, visiting, and playing. The outdoor patio is private and perfect for gathering most of the year! Even in the winter because of our very popular hot tub! And the rest of the yard is completely fenced with an extra high chain-link fence which you and your pets will appreciate.
And in case you wondered, we have plenty of electricity. I said 'inspired' by the Amish.
When it comes to accessing the wonders of Frankenmuth, we can't say enough how perfect the location is. Leave your car in the driveway and walk two blocks to where the traditional Frankenmuth attractions begin. If you know Frankenmuth, you know that everything is centered on Main Street and there is a slight incline from the river up to Genesee Street. We're at the top of the 'hill', so you get to start with the downhill walk. If you don't want to walk back, we’ll come and bring you back!
Regarding accessing our home. Your door code will get you into the front door and you’ll have the whole main level to yourselves with your private bedrooms and bath. All the living areas on that level are available for your private use - including the Hot Tub on the back patio.
As far as accessing other places? The Birch Run outlet mall is 8.6 miles from our home. Take the back way down Dehmel Rd to avoid the crowds on Main St. Bronner's Christmas Wonderland is also a little far to walk, but how can you not go to a place that has billboards all the way down in Florida.
We split time between Michigan and Florida, and like to camp, so you may meet a couple of our adult kids who help if we are gone.
We can get you started with a wine tasting (ask for details), maybe a guided tour, or maybe all you need are a few recommendations!
We want you to have only the amount of interaction with us that YOU want to make your visit to Frankenmuth perfect!
Regardless, we are never more than a phone call or IM away throughout the day and evening .
We wanted to be within walking distance of the heartbeat of Frankenmuth. Nestled in a quiet neighborhood two blocks from Main Street, its the perfect location for us - and probably for you!
Frankenmuth is made for walking. And from our home you're a couple blocks from shops, restaurants and all the attractions
If you are looking for a place to hold a party because your guests might make a mess of your home, just keep scrolling. We're not interested.
We have a Mini Golden Doodle puppy and we allow dogs. Up to two dogs only. And a maximum of 40 lbs each. All pets must be crated if left alone in the house. A security deposit may be required. And sorry, no cats period. My husband is deathly allergic.
We may consider an exception upon request with full disclosure of size, breed and age of dogs. Any exception would require an additional fee and a security deposit.
When you book, you will receive a link to our Guest Portal, where we provide additional services offline. We call these "Extras".
"Extras" include both certain free amenities and items available for a fee. All can be easily arranged through our Guest Portal. We will send you a link after you book. You will be able to: 1) request optional free amenities like setting up a port-a-crib, etc. and 2) select and pay for things like: an early check-in, etc. If you have questions or can't find these on the guest portal, reach out and ask about any of these items of interest.
The guest portal is where you will need to provide photo ID.
If you're like us and like to go south when Michigan is cold, check out our other home down on the Florida Gulf coast. You can find our other properties on our profile.
